Too Much Uncertainty With Newcastle’s Squad – Ashey Must Move Quickly This Week

The things that are on the Newcastle fans mind at the moment can be summed up in two words – Rafa Benitez.

Rafa Benitez is still the manager of Newcastle United and certainly having watched his press conference on Friday afternoon, he didn’t seem a man worried about much at all and certainly not about leaving Newcastle United.

We’re sure he made sure that persona was portrayed.

And Rafa is such a master at his press conferences – you can see from his temperament why he’s been such a successful manager for years.

That’s until he came to Newcastle where he has struggled because of limited investment.

Once again Mike Ashley is acting in a bizarre fashion the way he runs the football club and hasn’t been at a game in months.

Rafa assures us there will be a meeting later this coming week when it’s likely Ashley will be in attendance.

Rapid progress must be made in that meeting and Rafa must be signed up for as many years he will commit too under the strange ownership of Mike Ashley.

That period looks like three years.

Rafa has lots of work to do, and players need to know where they stand.

Is Salomon Rondon staying, is Ayoze Perez leaving and will Issac Hayden and Mo Diame both be leaving the club.

And who will be coming in to replace them and to strengthen the squad for next season?

The manager has admitted he cannot talk to some players about such things until he knows if he’s staying at Newcastle mor not.

This could only happen at Newcastle with the owner hesitating about signing a proven world-class manager, who in the last three years has saved Ashley and the club a ton of money.

But we have to remain positive and hope that Ashley can get the job done – and before next weekend.

If that happens we could have the most exciting summer transfer window in the 12 years we have run this blog.

That’s the hope.

It’s pointless trying to predict anything at Newcastle. Wishing, praying, begging and imploring won’t help either. The FCB is God. He’s willing to see untold suffering while he has the power to stop it. He will do whatever he wants. That might be good for us or it might be very, very bad. We have no say or influence. All we can do is wonder at the power a couple of billion pounds gives a person.
