It’s always good to check on what Newcastle are saying and thinking at any one time.
After the great win yesterday our fans are obviously upbeat but still a bit wary of owner Mike Ashley and whether he’s going to screw everything up.
What, again?
Fans are also upset with the sacking of Chris Hughton by Brighton after all he ‘s done for them since he took over the reins at the end of 2014 with Brighton desperately fighting against relegation from the Championship.
The Brighton hierarchy doesn’t come out of this looking very good – but greed for money has taken over the Premier League clubs – unfortunately.
Make sure you let Chris know we still love him and that he’s a great manager.
There’s just no justice for Chris – who is a class person – always has been – always will be.
Chris Hughton – while performing wonders for Brighton & Hove Albion
But some big Championship clubs will be after him this summer – he can them promoted.
Personal note to Chris – make sure you get that 1M bonus clause in your contract for when you get your next club promoted from the Championship.
Here are some of the comments from our fans – who are upbeat today.
When the football season ends all attention turns towards the next season. The anticipation of the new fixtures.
I just want to read the headline RAFA signs a new contract. #nufc

#nufc why do i have a feeling that ashley is going to back rafa this summer. Did just bang my head mind.

Not in Ashley’s interests for talks to break down before the season ended. String it out, then refuse to meet Rafa’s demands and let his contract run down. Hope not, but explains why it hasn’t been sorted yet? #nufc

Rafa signing a new contract & being given the green light to compete with other clubs this summer would have the same buzz about it as when we signed Shearer all them years ago !! #nufc #rafa

I love how so many of our players are coming out and expressing their appreciation for the fans. HWTL? #NUFC

Guess in the next couple of week we’ll establish what #NUFC we’ll be following for the foreseeable – a club that aspires for more and pushes boundaries, or a profit making advertising unit for undesirable shops.

I Hope Brighton “do a Sunderland “ now.
Hughton got them & kept them in the premier league and had decent cup runs.
Owners obviously have bigger ideas
Good luck Chris #NUFC— David Foster (@Dfozzy1970) May 13, 2019

BBC Reporter to Rafa Benitez:
“They were singing, they want you to stay, are you going to stay here?”Rafa:
“No, I’m not going to stay here, I’m going back to Newcastle right now” ??#NUFC pic.twitter.com/pPsSrPetJi— NUFC Gallowgate (@NUFCgallowgate) May 13, 2019
A great day out, I wish @fulhamfc a return to the premiership soon. Love this football ground #nufc #fulhamfc #football #soccer @ Craven Cottage https://t.co/dbIRAlx03c

Watch Rafa Benitez almost board the wrong bus home as he’s too immersed chatting with fans https://t.co/XBUDVtfJ5a #nufc #toonarmy

Shocked and actually quite saddened to hear Chris Houghton has been sacked. Any club should feel lucky to have him. He’ll always have a place in our hearts that’s for sure. I’ll never forgive Ashley for the way he just got rid of him from us either. #NUFC

Genuinely don’t think I’ve ever wanted a team relegated more than I want to see Brighton relegated next season, absolutely ridiculous decision after what Chris achieved there, if Rafa did walk I’d happily have him back at #NUFC

Comment #2don’t get get this love in with Hoots nice guy but mediocre championship manager at best,
never read such drivel as “if Rafa did walk I’d happily have him back” no chance of the improvement we’re all looking for with Hoots at the helm.

Comment #5Hardly a knee jerk reaction to shift Hoots on, the Brighton owner stuck by him to the perilous end (I thought he might have got himself gazumped by Cardiff at one point) and he’s making the change at the right time for the club. Nothing shocking about it. Hoots is a nice guy and didn’t deserve to get sacked here but his position at Brighton was really untenable, they faced the real possibility of starting next season at the bottom for a few months.

Comment #6I agree with Hibbit. I don’t get this St Hoots thing. It’s no big deal. He’s a wealthy man. He’ll get a pay out and another job if he wants one.

Comment #7Didn’t like what happened to Chris at Newcastle United when he was sacked.
But honestly, firing the man for keeping you in the Premiership is beyond disbelief.

All the very best to Ed and Neil, love the blog, I’m sure standards will be maintained. I know from personal experience that health issues can get in the way of everything else, so what Ed’s managed over the Years has been amazing.
I’m not a regular contributor, just the occasional comment, but always read (daily fix)!
