Transfer Move By Italian Giants Could Have Serious Implications For Newcastle

Martin Dubravka has been a revelation. He has transformed the Newcastle side since joining last January, initially on loan and then permanently this past summer.

His performances have garnered well deserved praise as well as interest from other clubs.

Earlier this year, there were reports that some top clubs were after Dubravka.

One of those clubs reported to be interested was Juventus. Today, Martin Dubravka has made some encouraging comments in conjunction with renewed interest from the Italian giants.

Are Juventus preparing to bid for Martin Dubravka?

Dubravka has expressed his happiness at Newcastle in spite of the interest shown in him.

One of the main reasons cited for his contentment is him playing regularly for the Magpies.

There is news from Italy that may give credence to the reported interest of the Turin based club.

According to Football Italia, Juventus have offered Roma the opportunity to sign Italian international goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

Roma have been offered the chance to sign Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin, according to La Repubblica. Perin could fill the bill for Roma,

Mattia Perin joined Juventus in July for €12.3M from Genoa, the club he had been with since he was sixteen.

Perin was brought in as longtime veteran and Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon departed on a free to join PSG.

Perin was expected to battle ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny for the number one spot.

Szczesny had spent the prior season as Buffon’s back up and was looking to fill the absence left by Buffon.

And Szczesny did just that, having a phenomenal campaign for the title winners.

His form left few opportunities for Perin, who managed only 9 starts before his season ended in April with a shoulder injury.

The news of Perin possibly going to Roma could mean that Juventus will focus on Martin Dubravka as a replacement.

The pull of a club like Juventus will be strong if they do indeed make a move for our Slovakian international.

Dubravka seems very content at the moment, and he is the obvious number one going into next season.

The plight of Perin may also serve as a reminder to Martin that pastures new are not always greener.

We hope and expect that Dubravka will stay at Newcastle, especially if Rafa Benitez signs a new deal.

But a club like Juventus showing interest in Martin is always concerning.

If there is any position on the pitch we have always been relatively comfortable with replacing it’s been GK. I’m not sure Dubravka would be missed that much. I love him, don’t get me wrong.

Tom, we’ll as that’s probably the highlight of the episode – cheers mate!!

I know we’re all desperate for Rafa to sign, but I doubt anybody is giving much credence to an Italian report on Rafa are they? About as reliable as the links to players that are already piling up.

The only hope I have that Rafa is going to sign is the fact Rondon hasn’t spoken to another PL team. (As far as I am aware or the press)

In this day, a player who will probably be looking at his last real payday contract (4 or 5 year) to be happy to wait until a manager sorts his contract out, other PL teams wanting him !

    Rondon knows…..

He would not risk said PL teams moving to other targets and he missing out.

    In my opinion

It seems to be Italian Day on here. I’m happy with that but not getting too excited about it. Tomorrow’s news will probably be “Nobody knows how Rafa/Ashley talks are going” and “Dubravka knows nothing of supposed interest in him by Juventus.”

There’s also this little tidbit in the Kazakhstan Daily News: “However nobody here knows what happened to Rafa Benitez after his stint with Real Madrid. Some hints he retired from football and is now living in the North-East of England.”

My gut feeling is that if Rafa stays we can do the domestic triple next season but with a better goal difference than Man City.

So milkshakes are OK to throw at people whose policies you don’t like eh? What about eggs? Are they OK too? Then let’s try vinegar (hurts the eyes), that’s fine as well, so let’s go for battery acid, wait, how about a brick and then a bullet? It’s all the same really, just different levels of assault.

Anyone who backs violence against others are sad little children that should go back to their nurseries and learn how to grow up and have a rational debate.

Back on to Rafa, now here’s a thought, how about Rafa has persuaded ashLIE that we can compete for Europe next year if the building blocks (finances) were in place? By doing this they need a different contract and that will take time.

Maybe the fact that nothing has been announced yet could be a good sign?

AshLIE has listened to reason? Probably not, but if Rafa can get us into Europe the publicity for his tat shops will increase massively, as will our value.

    Just a thought.

    Milkshake = violence.

    Duly noted.

I’m guessing if Ashley was in Newcastle and got milkshake thrown on him, there wouldn’t be too many unhappy people on here.

If dubravka was there though, you know he’d come out and save that. Star that he is.

If he goes to Juventus though, I fear for others who have no protection from beverages.

With all due respect mate, I tried to catch up on the threads since finishing work.

Most bloggers are on the current ‘live’ thread and I merely added my opinion about the general concern that most of us fans have at the minute – Rafa and his contract, which may in turn keep Dubravka at our club..

Got it in fella, linked to this thread.

But yes I do see your point, hopefully you can see mine.

    Cheers fella

Please, read all the comments, I’ve asked Jib too I assumed you didn’t need telling.

I didn’t comment on the link, simply expanded on the idea that we lose Dubravka.

I’m genuinely interested in hearing fans opinions…

    Do you have one?
