Newcastle United’s official Twitter account has given a bit of a subtle poke to our local rivals today. They, of course, have done so with a bit of class as well.
Lee Bowyer– when playing for Newcastle United
Newcastle United have tweeted out congratulations to our former midfielder Lee Bowyer after he has guided Charlton to the Championship with a thrilling win today at Wembley over Sunderland.
Congratulations to former Magpies midfielder Lee Bowyer on steering @CAFCofficial to the @SkyBetChamp! ?? pic.twitter.com/cG2SybTwLi

This is a tremendous accomplishment for Lee who only became the permanent manager in September and is actually out of contract with the club this summer.
We’re pretty certain Charlton Athletic will be eager to sign Lee to another contract after this great success.
Bowyer played for the Magpies from 2003 to 2006 and made 107 appearances for the club. While he may mostly be remembered for that unfortunate incident, we remember him as a player of determination and passion who was a quality midfielder on his day.
Lee seems to have been able to channel his fire and use it to inspire his players. We hope to see him do well in what looks to be a bright future as a manager.
Well done to Lee and Charlton Athletic.

Comment #68From April 9…..TalkSPORT pundit Dave Kitson has made the sensational claim that Newcastle United will be sold before the end of the season. Host Rennie asked him what the value of the purchase would be and Kitson replied: “It’s going to be between £300million and £400million. But it is going.”

Comment #77The Mirror is reporting or copying The Sun story now.
The buyer it is claimed is the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour, Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan.
According to The Sun, contracts have already been signed and submitted to the Premier League between the two parties with Ashley ready to stand down after 12 years in charge on Tyneside.
Sheikh Khaled is a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family and one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the Gulf states.
He is also the man who attempted a £2billion takeover of Liverpool last year, but failed in his mission to do so.
Has Amanda Staveley anything to do with this ?
She was the go between in the Man City takeover all those years ago ?
The Kenyon deal stalled at £300m so maybe just maybe £350 million is the magic number.
All for some more fun so let’s see where this story goes .

Comment #78Jib – not being nice again using the word mong. It has been discussed on here loads of times -it is a derogatory term which is insulting to persons who suffer from Downs Syndrome.
Any more voices of dissent want to comment?
