The news today in the Mirror is basically a republication of what they wrote exactly a week ago.
They report that Rafa’s job as Newcastle is not safe if the takeover is successful and that Jose Mourinho is willing to talk to Sheikh Khaled if offered the management job.
But Jose Mourinho has changed over the years, and in his last couple of jobs, he has looked anything but like a confident manager.
He has not looked happy and fought with his players and the press far too much.
And he was fired in both jobs after both Chelsea and Manchester United were both foundering in the Premier League after spending some big money on players.
We simply don’t believe this story and don’t think Sheikh Khaled would make such a colossal mistake so early on in his tenure at Newcastle.

Newspaper quoting something Mourinho said months ago, this is utter garbage, could have came straight from the desk of KBA. Another case of a so called newspaper fishishg for clicks. #nufc #NUFCTakeover #JoseMourinho

I mean, I love Rafa as manager…but I think he needs to speak up and stand up for himself more.. I would love him to stay as he is a great manager…. I also think if we had Mourinho under MA he would be a bit more outspoken towards him..#NUFC
— Muttley (@MuttleyGaming) June 9, 2019
#Mourinho WILL be manager of NUFC at some point. But right now Rafa is the man for the foreseeable future. Jose will want to be loved again and and do what he can for “Mr Robson” – bring a trophy to Newcastle. But Rafa ALL THE WAY, he can win something here (w/ new owners) #nufc

I have it on good authority from my source that:
– #NUFC sale will be completed tomorrow
– Mike Ashley will be drop kicked into the Tyne by Monty The Magpie
– Mbappe will be playing up top with Andy Carroll next season
– Mourinho will be joining as the kit manMy sauce you ask: pic.twitter.com/4hkysNvjYb

Comment #2On the plus side though, if were being linked to the likes of the “not so special one” there must be plenty of substance to the takeover and , there must be a lot of money to be spent to make us successful.
Give Rafa the money The special one has had over the last 5 years and we would be top 4 pushing for trophies and leagues.
For all those whining about the style of football, it’s horses for courses, if you have thouroughbreds you use them like thouroughbreds , if you have donkeys……well, you can see what I mean, Rafa has made the best from what he has available, as soon as Miggy came, the football and results came, imAgine what he could do with more than one high quality addition per season…….the mouth waters at the prospect

Comment #3We were discussing the signage last night, why would they bring it down to clean it, they would send a team up to clean it in situ, apart from it’s gawdiness they weren’t in particularly bad nick so didn’t need replacing. We were all hoping it’s for the press conference tomorrow and the new seats will feature in those photos as opposed to the twenty year old ones with the stuffing hanging out the side.

Comment #8The Mirror says Ashley hasn’t yet seen proof of funds.
Unless they are being sent by camel this has to be utter rubbish.
Someone is telling big porkies about this takeover and if it’s BZG their reputation is ruined.
My bet is on the Mirror’s reputation being the one that gets hammered.

Comment #9Tacky journalism at its worst.
Ashley and crew squeezing every last chance of publicity for Sports Direct out of the current circus show.
Mournihio has an inflated ego bigger than a barrage ballon and could you really see him fighting the cause for building a new training ground, developing the academy and spending time with the youngsters yet alone having the respect of our players. He would be a disruptive force.
No thanks.
No chance.
No way.

Nobody deserves a shot at bringing success more than Rafa, it’s out of our hands if new owners did decide to replace him but anyone going on a public forum to say they’d prefer Mourinho to Rafa is a betrayal of what Rafa has done for us.

Comment #11The signage coming down was supposedly to allow more electronic advertising ,which does not sound like a valid excuse ,the club would not spend money on new expensive electronic advertising when it is being sold, and even if they did, they (the club) would not take down the signage which was daubed everywhere (which seems to be what has happened) they would only remove the pitch side tat adverts and leave the rest.
All this smoke ,mirrors and subterfuge is right up the fat mans alley, I just wish he’d foxtrot oscar and leave us in peace not pieces

Ed is right. It is last week’s story rehashed. We need this takeover done to put a stop to this totally made up tripe and move on to totally made up tripe about transfers.

Comment #15In relation to the signage , I have only seen hoardings with SD on, does anyone know if the huge lettering has been taken down from the facia of the East stand ?
The only concern for me is Ash would know once the takeover happens there will be loads of press at SJP, therefore an opportunity to advertise his brand. Strange timing to take it down now.

Rafa, for me, still offers the biggest hope of change and success we’ve seen in years…..takeover or no takeover. (for what it’s worth, I believe the takeover is real and just about done from everything I’ve seen and heard).

Comment #19Not having read the story regarding Jose, my take on it is this, Lazy journo ” Hey mr special one, have you heard about your buddy Khaled supposedly taking over at Newcastle united?”
Jose replies ” yeah, of course , its all yours can find to talk about even though you know nothing which is going on”
Lazy journo ” if the takeover happens, would you like to work in the home of sir Bobby and get the chance to eventually win a game there if Rafa don’t sign up for the new owners?”
Jose replies “As long as that fat barrow boy is nowhere near , and if Rafa decides he does not want to continue doing a fantastic job ,I would like to be given the chance to spend loads of Khaleds money ”
Lazy Journo “thanks Jose”
Not verbatim but probably very close to what the journal dreamed up the night before his Sunday article deadline was due

Comment #22Can’t take this seriously for a moment. This was “reported” over a week ago, albeit worded slightly differently.
Basically a friend of a friend said Mourinho might be interested in a new project that doesn’t involve a team that is ready made to win trophies – as per his tenure at Real, Man U etc. NUFC was never directly mentioned so that rag is rehashing an old fabricated non-story.

Comment #25I have said for years one day Jose will manage the toon, even when he was winning things at Chelsea.

Win a poxy little league cup with the toon and it will surpass anything he has seen in hes career

He one sports journo of the year last year and claims to be a Chester and toon fan. Don’t know how to do Twitter links but he seemed to be in a quite childish spat with toon fans over claims Rafa was off to Sociadad, he claimed it was sources at the club and was accused of those sources being Bishop and Barnes, which he denied.

Comment #27Of course the Mirror wouldn’t be writing this story if Mourinho was in work.
It’s just classic hack work equivalent to saying “when asked Elvis said he would like to return home from the moon “
No substance, just bollocks.
And before they say “got you” all I can say is I just like to play their little game as an act of kindness for those less fortunate.

The used to be special one seems to have lost his way since the influence of Sir Bobby was lost. Could he ever get that back ? Even at Bobby’s house ? Maybe it’s all he would need, However until Rafa decides to go for whatever reason ( and he has put up with MANY from FatLad ) He is FIRST CHOICE !
