This Could Be The Biggest Mess Ashley Has Ever Created at Newcastle

This may well be the biggest mess Mike Ashley has put Newcastle in during his ill-advised tenure of 12 years as the Newcastle owner.

And that saying something because the owner has managed to put Newcastle in a stranglehold in too many transfer windows.

The Rafa Benitez saga on his new contract is still not concluded – where he will stay or fo, and it doesn’t look like he got much out of Mike Ashley with the process for transfers not being changed much at all according to the Chronicle today.

Mike Ashley, Sheikh Khaled, and Rafa Benitez

Communication was never one of Ashley’s greatest strength, but he’s managed to end up with the current situation:

  • We don’t know if we are to be taken over by Sheikh Khaled
  • According to the local Chronicle, Ashley is still waiting for an official offer from the Sheikh
  • We don’t know the results of the almost endless communication on Rafa’s new contract
  • We don’t know if Rafa will stay on as manager and he has only 21 days left on his contract
  • The transfer window has been open for a month now, and we have done nothing in it – absolutely nothing

According to the Chronicle today, Mike Ashley has not budged on the transfer process, and Rafa will still need to go to the owner to get permission to buy a player.

That’s what has made things so agonizingly slow in our recruitment of players when it sometimes takes months to buy a player.

And the Chronicle are also reporting today that Rafa will need to sell before he can buy this summer.

But that seems strange to us given that Rafa is reported to have £61M in cash to spend in this coming season’s two transfer windows.

That’s always assuming this mess can be cleared up before August 8th when the window closes.

I say that only in part jest.

Mike Ashley was reported to have met with Rafa in London on Thursday, May 16th and it’s now 24 days later, and we have heard absolutely nothing about the talks from the club.

It’s now two weeks since the news broke that Sheikh Khaled was reported to be acquiring Newcastle and nothing from the club.

Why did somebody not tell Mike Ashley that when you treat your customers like dirt – in this case, the Newcastle fans – you are very unlikely to be successful?

And the customers will not become exactly warm to you.

That’s something Mike Ashley did not learn in management, and when you also have zero leadership skills to go with a distinct lack of management skills, things become complicated and confusing very quickly.

Nobody knows what’s going on.

And we’ve seen that happen with Mike Ashley again and again over 12 years where he’s proved that he’s simply an atrocious owner.

Comments welcome.

Yep, first day back after the holidays here, and the Mourinho rumour is alive and well here too along with ashLIE slowing things down and Pinsent pushing to close the deal (they won’t the larger part of their fees until it’s done), ashLIE’s side dragging their feet.

So my prediction of early this week could be a bit premature. Apologies to all.

So if we end up with no sale and no Rafa, it’ll be business as usual with Ashley.

    Meanwhile at Chronic-al HQ…

“New story in sir, from qlessfreak7, says he’s spoken to an insider who promises him that MA’s lawyers are drawing up a £275m buyout for Beaverbrooke’s AND he says his sauce is legit!”
“Front page it! put the sauce’s name as {an insider from Ashley’s inner circle} then switch the last sentence and put a few spelling and gramme mistakes, so people think we wrote it ourselves! Headline – (Takeover imminent)
Another scoop like this and my desk at the Sun will be nailed-on!

The only reason I can see for fat boy to slow things down is that the club are due some money from somewhere soon that he can syphon off before the sale, maybe loan fee, player payment or premier league payment……..either that or he’s trying it on to get more money by getting Khalid to buy out the Sh!te direct advertising contract that they are now allegedly paying for

Does anyone on here own a drone? It would be interesting to see if the advertising from the East stand (aforementioned) has been removed… watch out, for those low flying planes?!

We may actually be stuck with some SD advertising , when Ashley started paying for it (likely not the going rate), he’ll have had a multi year contract written up with the club (i.e.. Charnley) that protects his right to advertise in case of sale .
Unlikely to be as bad as it is now but will still be very visible

I have a feeling it might be illegal to fly a drone around or inside a stadium but it’s not something I’d worry about if I had a drone, the stadiums too big to spot a drone if it stays high enough. Someone in Newcastle definitely should do this.

Seems like a lot of anxiety on the blog regarding this takeover which I guess can be attributed to the lack of information coming out on the possible take over! I presume the end result will either be a positive or a negative, which of course depends on each persons individual view. Either way, this is the “Newcastle United” which has thrived and survived for a 126 years no matter who the owners were! We will endure!!!
