This Could Be The Biggest Mess Ashley Has Ever Created at Newcastle

This may well be the biggest mess Mike Ashley has put Newcastle in during his ill-advised tenure of 12 years as the Newcastle owner.

And that saying something because the owner has managed to put Newcastle in a stranglehold in too many transfer windows.

The Rafa Benitez saga on his new contract is still not concluded – where he will stay or fo, and it doesn’t look like he got much out of Mike Ashley with the process for transfers not being changed much at all according to the Chronicle today.

Mike Ashley, Sheikh Khaled, and Rafa Benitez

Communication was never one of Ashley’s greatest strength, but he’s managed to end up with the current situation:

  • We don’t know if we are to be taken over by Sheikh Khaled
  • According to the local Chronicle, Ashley is still waiting for an official offer from the Sheikh
  • We don’t know the results of the almost endless communication on Rafa’s new contract
  • We don’t know if Rafa will stay on as manager and he has only 21 days left on his contract
  • The transfer window has been open for a month now, and we have done nothing in it – absolutely nothing

According to the Chronicle today, Mike Ashley has not budged on the transfer process, and Rafa will still need to go to the owner to get permission to buy a player.

That’s what has made things so agonizingly slow in our recruitment of players when it sometimes takes months to buy a player.

And the Chronicle are also reporting today that Rafa will need to sell before he can buy this summer.

But that seems strange to us given that Rafa is reported to have £61M in cash to spend in this coming season’s two transfer windows.

That’s always assuming this mess can be cleared up before August 8th when the window closes.

I say that only in part jest.

Mike Ashley was reported to have met with Rafa in London on Thursday, May 16th and it’s now 24 days later, and we have heard absolutely nothing about the talks from the club.

It’s now two weeks since the news broke that Sheikh Khaled was reported to be acquiring Newcastle and nothing from the club.

Why did somebody not tell Mike Ashley that when you treat your customers like dirt – in this case, the Newcastle fans – you are very unlikely to be successful?

And the customers will not become exactly warm to you.

That’s something Mike Ashley did not learn in management, and when you also have zero leadership skills to go with a distinct lack of management skills, things become complicated and confusing very quickly.

Nobody knows what’s going on.

And we’ve seen that happen with Mike Ashley again and again over 12 years where he’s proved that he’s simply an atrocious owner.

Comments welcome.

As I have said before the worst thing that happened to theChronicle an Journal was to become part of the Mirror Group
Ever since the falling out with Keegan and trying to dig dirt on him and NUFC and the barring of McNally there has been a stand off

Apparently he wants 350 for the club
It’s not beyond possibility that he could make 150 out of us this summer

    That’s ignoring the global advertising

Have you heard if Khaled’s bid is a consortium of 3 wealthy arabs? The reason I ask is a family member works at SJP (only in the kitchens mind) & he says the rumour among these staff is of the consortium of 3 only 2 have signed the papers & 1 is still holding out for some reason! Personally I don’t think this is correct as I’m sure they would have to be named in the monochrome company? Anyway as of yesterday he did confirm there is still hundreds of sports direct signs still up inside the ground!

Guys Guys.. we are gonna give ourselves a coronary.. I find it funny how the Chronicle says that Ashley had not received an offer and in the next breath state he is not commenting on anything… so how do they know he hasn’t received an offer!! He isn’t saying anything to anybody.. best advice.. give ourselves until the end of June for something to happen, for a FACT Rafas contract it up.. so that would be a sensible date for something to have happened.. people are making themselves ill looking for news that isn’t yet there..
Spend some time with your families and watch some of the Women’s World Cup.. the Newcastle situation will sort itself out.

So how we feeling about wor takeover then will it happen yes or no ? For me I think the sheikh is serious and he will not put up with all the Ashleys games. In the past Amanda tried to put her case forward through caulkin but was pushed to side by ashleys pr and we were all aware kenyon did not have the money. The sheikh will push this through and if the worst happend he wont just go away like the other two did i think we will get to know the full deatails of fat mike dodgy dealings and the shit that will bring dies not bare thinking about

    Whoa! Whoa!

Where is the factual evidence that there is the merest smidgen of truth in any of this mornings topics?

Over the last week, the world and his wife have been complaining about the great Wall of silence around the Ashole camp! Nothing has changed today, and yet poster after poster is complaining that Ashole is ‘deliberatly’ dragging his heals!

He may well be, and no-one would put it past him, but there is no evidence that this is the case. (ps. I’m certainly not a Ashole apologist!)

Mourinio to replace Rafa! Please show me anything that could possibly be construed as water-tight, set in stone fact that this is true!

The mystery of the signage in the skips. ‘they have been taken down for cleaning!’ pull the other one, Ashole and house keeping at SJP, your havin’ a laff…

The only thinks that are indisputably factual are the two statements from The BKG and the response from NUFC supporting the Dubai version of events. The legal activities in London by both parties, the Sheik’s creation of a holding account, in the not too subtle name of Monochrome Acquisitions, coupled with Ashole’s dissolving of numerous NUFC related holding companies. These are real, proper, grown-up, bona-fide facts!

The rest are just pathetic journalistic bull’s squirt…

Is it just possible that the signs taken down are around the directors box – ready for a press conference so they can’t be seen. Just it seemed to me they were all from the Millburn stand

I think Ashley has to sell NUFC this time because someone has actually offered the amount he is looking for. Also, there is no way he could carry on doing what he is doing with the club.

No, we lost because we were clueless.

I think the Aussies have won like 10 in a row before today. Attack looks toothless so far. Hopefully it is not just because of the white ball because it bodes well for later in the summer. Should find out more with that Indian leggy as he really gives it a tweak. Plus, Bumrah of course.

I am not particularly bothered about the Indians either way but some Aussie trouncing is always welcome.

Is there anyone, on this blog, who is familiar with the Director’s box at SJP?

I sat there many years ago, pre-Ashley, but I can’t remember anything about the seats.

Do they have ‘SportsDirect’ branding on them?

Might go some way to explaining their removal…

If the local rag reporters are NUFC fans or even not and they cannot get any info from the club why don’t they just stop writing about it.

On the sports page or even the front page just have a headline reading, We Don’t Know.

Until the club talks to us we ain’t going to mention the club, let’s stop advertising MA and his bullshit.

Do you think Ashley realises that if the club isn’t sold and Rafa leaves, we are 100% getting relegated in season 2019-20 and his asset value drops like a stone? Does he even care?

I’ve checked back and Mourinho shamelessly used the
Mirrorgroup papers to canvas for Louis van Gaal’s job
at Man U in the spring of 2016.
This is encouraging because imo it means his contacts
in the sport have told him the NUFC takeover is real.
The Portuguese coach has no shame.

    JohnJ,
You’d like to think it would but it will carry on as normal, a few less people like me will turn up, nobody on the fixed deal will stop going and the shortfall will be made up by forces, NHS and student freebies, we’ll appear normal from the outside until we’re relegated.

If its a choice between Ashley and Rafa v khaled and Mourinho.
    Its a no brainer.
Give me Ashley and Rafa any day. Rafa deserves our support.
