Former Roma And Marseille Boss Could Be A Good Fit At Newcastle

While there have been no reported links, we have to wonder if former Roma and Marseille manager Rudi Garcia would be interested in the Newcastle United manager’s position.

He is available having left Marseille late last month after a dreadful season in which the club failed to qualify for any European competitions. He would also be very comfortable coming into the current chaos on Tyneside after three seasons at the Stade Velodrome where bedlam seems to lurk around every corner.

He may even find it to be a welcome respite compared to the constant madness at Marseille. He incidentally also joined Marseille a few days after a takeover was completed in 2016.

Rudi Garcia– quality manager who is available

Prior to joining Marseille, Garcia was the manager of Roma. He guided Roma to two consective second place finishes behind Juventus. This was hailed at the time as a mini-resurrection for the club who had failed to reach European competition places the previous few seasons.

He also displayed brilliant tactical awareness while at Roma which was widely praised. Outside Of The Boot did an examination of Garcia’s system in 2014 which still makes for interesting reading.

He was subsequently let go the following season after a poor run of one win in ten matches in all competitions. A type of run that has, unfortunately, become far to commonplace at Newcastle over the past few seasons. Though Roma were still well placed enough to finish in the third spot.

He had an excellent spell at Lille from 2008-2013, leading them to their first silverware since 1955 with Ligue 1 and Coupe de France triumphs in 2011. His Lille team was very fun to watch with dynamic players like Eden Hazard, Moussa Sow, and Gervinho.

His time at Lille was also when both Yohan Cabaye and Matthieu Debuchy left to join Newcastle.

With a career point per match average of 1.7 and a win percentage of 47%, the fifty-five-year-old has a good CV and a history of exciting teams.

We think he may be a good option for Newcastle United.

Cant blame rafa for leaving, not surprised the club waited for him to leave before attempting to find a replacement. Same old story with the mugs that run us

Disappointed by Rafa statement though on the day it broke he was leaving, if all this is true then he’s been disingenuous with the fans

Sell the club, don’t sell the bloody club, just do something, as fans we would love to see the back of you, but as people we would like to know what’s the end result of all this takeover.

Just man up Ashley, we don’t have time to fcuk around with the season not far away.

    disingenuous

not candid or sincere, typically by pretending that one knows less about something than one really does.
“this journalist was being somewhat disingenuous as well as cynical”
    synonyms: dishonest, deceitful, underhand, underhanded, duplicitous, double-dealing, two-faced, dissembling, insincere, false, lying, untruthful, mendacious;

Our Toon and you think that describes Rafa ?????

The optimism is mainly based on the hope that Ashley might actually sell, I don’t see how he can use it for his benefit.

I can’t see him getting any edification from what we post on the blog.

Nor even from his PR plants.

The chopper stuff is true. Hovered over the ground then straight to benton. Landed for few mins and now heading down south. Very weird stuff.
Off out arnt to ground then surely it is showing somebody it from the sky. Then if its left it looks like must have dropped people off

Yeah, I’m no gambler but I know 8-1 is not a knocking bet.

Someone surely has to say something soon! This was leaked late May and we are no further forward. In fact we’ve gone backwards.

If I was a betting man though I’d have to say the frog is going to be right again – too much history of shady shenanigans to be convinced otherwise.

    But the tantalising hope…
