Odds Shorten On Steve Bruce As Next Newcastle United Manager As Newcastle Interest Is Reported

The Shields Gazette have noticed that Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce is now a favorite to become the next Newcastle manager according to some bookies.

This is what they have reported:

The former Sunderland boss is 4/1 on with Sky Bet, 13/8 with Betfair and 15/8 with Paddy Power.

Sky Sports have also just reported that Newcastle are in fact considering Steve Bruce.

The 59-year-old boyhood Toon fan has done the coaching carousel in English Football since he first became manager of Sheffield United in 1998. He has managed 9 different teams in 10 spells having managed Wigan Athletic in 2001 and then again from 2007-2009.

He last coached in the top flight in 2015 when his Hull City side were relegated. He has then had an unsuccessful spell at Aston Villa where he failed to get them promoted prior to joining Sheffield Wednesday.

Bruce was also the manager of Sunderland from 2009-2011 but had his longest term at Birmingham City from 2001 to 2007.

Steve Bruce– with Alan Shearer

In the Premier League, the former Manchester United skipper has quite a poor record. His points per match average is just 1.1 and he has a win percentage of only 28.

We did a report yesterday about how Mike Ashley only hires unattached managers or promotes from within. Bruce joined Sheffield Wednesday just this past February and did quite well. So, hopefully, they will want to keep hold of him.

Here In The City also noticed yesterday that Steve’s son Alex has started to follow Newcastle United on Instagram. So let’s hope that is just a coincidence.

looking that way mate as His agent Mendes has close links with Wolves. Everton were in the mix but Wolves winning the race.
We will end up with a freebie like Carrol,Sturridge or Welbeck and when injured be left with Josepoo

In order to pacify angry fans Immoral and Tardy have lined up a cup of tea from Costa as they use 80% of their budget.

    Our toon

I fully understand your point, which is well made and I hate to throw in a but, but.

I do not believe there is the collective will to accomplish that level of support for a boycott long term.

History tells us we have flash points that flare up then settle down again and the stadium remains s pretty much full.

I would be more likely to agree wholeheartedly with you if I didnt think your vision was a romantic fiction. I get it but it’s never going to work because it will never happen.

It’s fine not to believe in the effectiveness of a boycott Billy. That doesn’t mean you’re right though. And what we have here now just isn’t worth supporting. Because that support goes straight into Ashley’s pocket. If you know of another effective means of protesting please tell us what it is.

I take your point about Moyes but I really don’t know who else could have successfully followed Ferguson….. and look at what Jose Mourinho didn’t achieve there!

I’m looking at how David Moyes did at Everton (on not a lot of transfer money) and also how he managed at West Ham.

Ashley won’t pay compensation so that’s Steve Bruce out of the equation.

If the Fat Shopkeeper won’t pay compensation, and if he won’t, we are looking at a manager who is out of work at this time unless we have a takeover – if that comes about we are in a completely different ball game.

Sadly we do not seem to have a lot to choose from at this time!

It’s like a joke I just don’t get – didn’t get the Kinnear punchline or the Pardew punchline or Maclaren or Carver – maybe somewhere along the line I just lost my sense of humour – embarrassed to be a Newcastle fan and associated with these clowns

Any manager with any modicum of self-respect or self-belief will avoid this job like the proverbial plague until this rancid administration has grabbed its bags of ‘swag’ and has been run out of town. Fatboy Slug, Penfold, and those other faceless, sycophantic hangers-on epitomise everything that I have come to despise about football. The arrogance, divisiveness and sheer greed of these thick ‘chavs’ is extraordinary, but has been since 2007…nothing has changed! I have relented from going to any home game since Chris Hughton was unceremoniously replaced by the ‘more experienced’ Pardew. It hurts, but I have got over it!! S@@t Direct is his only passion, apart from the other mass tat emporiums he owns. The ONLY way we will ever rid ourselves of this vile and odious regime is to remove ourselves individually and collectively from its grasp by NOT turning up, NOT buying any club tat, NOT endorsing ANY other company associated with his regime and to engage in peaceful and lawful protest….Standing on the phone outside S@@t Direct stores is NOT illegal, holding NUFC themed street events near the ground (Leazes Park etc.) is NOT illegal, There are so many ways that we can get under his thick skin and see how his little band of merriment run!! In the inimitable words of our former ‘classy’ MD, Llambias, ‘You don’t know how f&$King nasty we can be’….maybe its time for them to find out what taking on the City of Newcastle and Geordies everywhere is like and how equally unpleasant we can be too!!

Big Sam on Talk Shite this morning singing the praises of Ashley like Uriah Heep Nolan.
And comparing Newcastle with Bolton and Bury for God’s sake. Ignoring smallest squad in Premier, little being spent. Can you imagine these hypopcritical arseholes having the same comment made about Everton or Spurs, similar sized clubs ?
