Rennes Has “Agreement” For Ismaila Sarr To Leave

We first reported on Newcastle’s interest in Rennes attacker Ismaila Sarr two years ago when he was just 19 years old.

As recently as last month, there were also reports that Newcastle would bid as much as £26.6m for the now twenty-one-year-old. That however never came to fruition.

While speaking at the unveiling of new €10m signing Flavien Tait yesterday, Rennes President Olivier Létang gave an update on Ismaila Sarr.

“With Ismaila, there is a type of gentlemen’s agreement but we need all the conditions to be right, and they are not at the moment, if at a level (that we like) something is offered to us, we will have the capacity to accept it.”

The right conditions we believe are referencing Rennes valuation of the player which is believed to be as high as £36.6m. The only reported bid that has come in thus far for Sarr is from Watford who had their bid of £26.6m turned down by the French club.

Ismaila Sarr– will cost money but Newcastle are in dire need

Ismaila Sarr is a definite talent. He has has already made 21 appearances for Senegal where he is currently on international duty in the African Cup of Nations.

His record at Rennes is fantastic appearing 77 times for the club with 18 goals and 16 assists.

This past season, he played 50 games in all competitions with 13 goals and 11 assists playing both on the right wing and a bit at striker.

Born in Saint Louis, Senegal, he started his career at Senegalese football academy Generation Foot which also produced former Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse and the player Sarr is most often compared to, Sadio Mane.

This is the type of talent that Newcastle should be going for but never will. His blistering pace on the opposite flank of Miguel Almiron would be a real threat to defenses.

Without Salomon Rondon or Ayoze Perez this season, Newcastle are going to have to bring in three to four attackers as they were already short last season. An injury to Rondon would have left the club with just Joselu last year.

Newcastle are again behind in their recruitment and will soon run out of options as players who are available are snapped up. They then may have to overpay for players who clubs have no intention of parting with especially if it is left real late in the window.

The lack of any planning by Ashley and Charnley have left this club in peril. With no manager and no signings, this summer has delved into the realm of the ridiculous.

Whoever Ashley brings in to manage the club, he will have to back him with class players. Class players cost money but Ismaila Sarr would be a step in the right direction.

Strange that Noam Chomsky views it differently, I presume you read his recent remarks? Perhaps you are more informed than Noam Chomsky. Always a possibility.

Regarding the BBC ‘documentary’ tonight, it would be wise to look into John Ware, the shows producer. Impartiality issues raised in the past with John Ware. In a 2015 piece, John Ware made claims about JC that were later disproven. The BBC has been forced in the past to pay damages and issue an apology over John Ware’s work in the past.

    Enjoy the hatchet piece.

Brucie now long odds on favourite and looks like a tap in. Sickening doesn’t come even close but what can one say? We’re going be the laughing stock in some quarters and told to shut up and get on with it in others.
This is a far bigger backward step than even the most negative amongst us expected and this fat horrible, selfish uncaring parasite must be made fully aware of how we feel.

If Steve Bruce or anyone connected to him reads this as I’m fairly sure they will, then this is nothing personal Steve but the concensus of feeling is that we were not expecting such a downgrade on Rafa and we won’t just roll over and accept this. This job was never going to be easy having to try and follow Rafa Benitez but you just haven’t got the credentials even though I’m sure you’re a canny bloke.

So is it accurate to say that bzg didn’t have the funds? If so, is it any wonder that Ashley won’t sell?

Hibbitt – Tubbs could potentially employ someone useless as manager. A lot would back him – give him time -bla bla bla.

Now then if Tubbs employed a manger that was hated -JFK for example it would have the effect of uniting the majority of fans against Tubbs even the doubters/waverers.

Bruce story, is just that.It has no substance beyond newspaper speculation and betting scams. If Bruce becomes our next manager I’ll eat Harry’s remaining conker, if he hasn’t already gambled it away.
Just manufactured news to distract the fans from watching planes.

    Hi Guys,
I’m not a season ticket holder due to health issues only get to games on very rare occasions. There was the possibility of a disabled ST but I did not wish to go and support that snake even at special rates. But really with my Peripheral Neuropathy pain it’s really hard to be there. I have supported NUFC since 1957 and been to many games home & away before and after the re-development of SJP.
I’d rather cross the street than go past the door of an SD shop. Even his picture, Ashley’s, makes me feel sick!
If I had been a season ticket holder I would not renew but I respect that is an individual choice for everyone to make. I’m all for embarrassing that horrible individual!

I doubt that there’s many doubters/waverers on the blog despite what many say to the contrary!

Even if Ashlie was to get Pep or Pochettino in I reckon his popularity (stupid word for him) wouldn’t rise above Zero.

We had Benitez loving the job! We were 2 or 3 players away from a good solid squad and in a matter of weeks, this buffoon of an owner has blown it!
It’s no wonder Rafa’s bitter; he worked long hours on the project only to be thrown under the bus!
Ashley is a bad joke and we are again a laughing stock!

Why the mass panic. Until we approach Bruce I believe it’s on. I’m sure BZG will get it done. Probably KBA tactics to get Mike some more millions.

Correct Shola!! Takeover is very close to conclusion, more plane activity today and flight N9895 (the one that came from Dubai to Newcastle to Luton to Boston, most likely with Khaled and or Midhat on it) is landing in Luton at 6am tomorrow morning, hopefully to finalise everything.

The bookies latched on to Alex Bruce following NUFC on Twitter, slashed the odds caused a betting frenzy then the media jumped on board. Bookies manipulating fans to make money, shock horror!!

The only safe bet here is that both Conker Brothers will have all their remaining bollicks in their underpants while drinking #cans at the weekend!

Well said Supershola, Fans are too quick to pick up on any negative stories. It seemed like Brucie was pictured holding up the shirt, judging by all the social media reaction today. The reason we all know about the BZG liverpool story is because of Ashley PR to discredit Stavely who was working on that deal. The most likely explanation for that story being the Liverpool owners doing an ‘Ashley’ on them.

I never believed any WhatsApp messages of Midhat positive or negative. What is interesting is that Greg lake who has alot of followers to lose jumped in on it. And that barber who could face backlash against his business. My gut feeling is it will be done. I wont give up hope otherwise I may as well be a mackem. Mark Douglas’ article has no basis of any fact whatsoever ever. It is filled with guess work and supposition. Until he gets a quote from anyone then I refuse to read any of the speil from him or other UK journos.
