Steve Bruce has commented on the vacant Newcastle United manager’s position and asserts that he has not been approached.
The Sheffield Star has the following attributed to Bruce:
“God only knows what happened on Tuesday afternoon. There seemed to be an upsurge (in the betting) from somewhere.
“John Terry was favourite (for the job) yesterday. It was Mikel Arteta the day before so who knows.
“As far as I am concerned, I am here, I am going home tomorrow and looking forward to walking the dog!”
Sheffield Wednesday are finishing up a ten-day preseason camp in Portugal and are due to fly back to England today.
It is interesting that Steve mentions the betting odds as being the catalyst for all the talk of “favourites”.
Yesterday the story originally was about his odds shortening, before Sky Sports reported of genuine interest in Bruce by Newcastle.
Luke Edwards of the Telegraph had the following tweet suggesting that Bruce has always been a strong candidate.
You may remember that I told you Steve Bruce was a prominent name in #nufc discussions on the day Rafa left two weeks ago. Nice to see others – including bookmakers – catching up ??
— Luke Edwards (@LukeEdwardsTele) July 9, 2019
We did scour through the past few weeks worth of tweets from Luke and found the following retweet from the Telegraph.
Jose Mourinho, Steve Bruce, David Moyes…
All names being linked to Newcastle United as the club starts their search for a replacement for Rafa Benitez | @LukeEdwardsTelehttps://t.co/M5LWcQDpkI
— Telegraph Football (@TeleFootball) June 24, 2019
Bruce does seem to be unaware of any interest, though you can never really tell.
However, he doesn’t explicitly say he would not be interested if he was approached. Though it doesn’t look like he was asked that question specifically.

We’re all clutching at straws and your conjecture that that Radcliffe might somehow be involved with BZG brings to mind something attributed to Midhat via WhatsApp a couple of weeks ago.
When asked whether the takeover still on, he replied along the lines of ‘Yes but in a different way’
As I said, desperately clutching at anything that brings hope of seeing the back.of Ashley.

Comment #6BZG ain’t buying us. I’ve said for a long time they might not be the wealthy people they are making themselves out to be and they can lie just as easy as anyone.
If Sir John Hall says BZG dont have the funds I completely believe him, he has never been anything except dedicated to Newcastle and he has zero reason to lie at 86 years of age. I also have no doubt Mike Ashley would allow him to view particulars of this takeover so I believe hes telling the truth.
People need to realise just because they are members of the royal family doesn’t mean they have billions to waste, it’s very possible that they just want to be seen to have billions for other business ventures.

Comment #8No matter what happens surely it has to happen this week. We can’t be going into next week being in the exact same position and I don’t believe we will even Ashley is not that daft. This feels like we are at the final hurdle whatever way it breaks it will happen this week I’m sure of it whether the news we want to hear or the news what we all dread and expect. I don’t think a potential buyer or Ashley wants this to drag on longer for all the reasons we know as it gets closer to the start of the season not even Ashley wants that and all that say he doesn’t and he is wasting time to not make any signings etc etc is BS this is his golden goose and he isn’t going to risk it no matter what you say.
We have lost Rafa, Perez and Rondon massive massive losses and just them 3 alone Ashley will struggle to replace anyone of them in such a short space of time. I honestly believe he wants out now it is a burden he can’t live with anymore he is a successful businessman hates me to admit that but he is and right now Newcastle United is not a good business it’s a sinking ship and he will go down with it unless he sells this week.

Comment #9Its very simple no self respecting manager will ever come anywhere near Newcastle and work under Ashley because of his terrible reputation, just as no quality player with any ambition will even think about joining Newcastle and working under an owner like Ashley, he is distroying our great club, he has no interest in Newcastle United apart from milking the club for every penny he can get his dirty hands on, he has no love for Newcastle or thier amazing and loyal fans, he has no respect for our club,he has no respect for any human being, its all about money money money, this parasite is a grotesque and horrible excuse for a human being, he needs to be forced out on our club, please understand we are the club, no club can exist without the fans, and Ashley can not exist without the fans, we have the power to force this scumbag con man out, we all need to be united my fellow fans you know what needs to be done to finally get our once proud club back. Comment #10Bruce is an ok guy but this could be wrong place, wrong time scenario.
Getting Sheffield Wednesday promoted looks like a good task to focus on.
I think he was living in the Pont area when with the mackems but was still good enough to give one of our lads who is a STH at SJP a decent tip when serving him supper at a local hostelry and had some craich about the Toon – clearly his first love. After the dog, the kids and his missus.

Comment #13Now here’s an opportunity that Ashley might have his eyes on. Good fit for his business portfolio. They might need some investment or be up for sale before not too long. Big brand identity, big in China ?
Superdry founder Julian Dunkerton says he is trying to “steady the ship” after the fashion retailer reported an £85m annual loss.
Mr Dunkerton returned to the firm in April, after a lengthy campaign against the previous management, who he said had a “misguided” strategy.
As well as reporting a steep loss for last year, Superdry warned that sales could fall in the current financial year.
In 2018 it reported profits of £65.3m.

Comment #15If BZG don’t have the funds, when was this found out? This fiasco could not have gone on this long without proof that they were ready and willing to buy the club. With statements such as ‘yes, but in a different way’ when talking of purchasing NUFC, I’m STILL of the opinion that somehow, we will have new owners soon. I hope it doesn’t mean that AshLIE still has his grubby fat fingers on ANYTHING to do with the club.
All of us have their favorite for new manager/coach whether we are bought or not (mine was, and is, Flores) but it has to be done soon or we are stuck with the two we have conducting training at the moment.

Comment #16On the boycott. Some are suggesting we need to get 10 thousand to stay away.
Wrong. It has to be total to have any affect at all.
Plenty of time to decide. A lot can happen between now and the Arsenal game.

It’s a have you got plenty money test.
The Chelsea owner. For 15 years Sky and all were blowing smoke up his back end. 6 times each game the camera would focus in on him for some reason.
Then things change. The Salisbury incident. Then the Yanks decide he is a threat to national security as a close associate of the Russian state.
He’s not even allowed in the country now. Is he ?

Comment #22I don’t believe that midhat rubbish, more likely to be somebody taking the proverbial..
If someone wants to buy a major corporate for 350 million they must surely provide proof of funds upfront before they are even allowed to look at books – if not I may put a bid in myself just so I can have a nosey and see what fatmans buying conditions are … Continued free advertising forever, ground not included etc

It’s a massive red herring, pure bollix as to me there’s clearly no takeover happening and some posters reek of desperation.

Another coincidence: a private jet left Teterboro for Nice this morning. Ashley is in Nice.
Remember N9895? That flies from Bedford (Boston) to Teterboro later.
Does BZG have business in Teterboro? might someone from the group be meeting Ashley in Monaco?
