Well, it looks like Newcastle are so desperate to appoint a new manager (any manager) and not be embarrassed in China by having two U23 coaches lead the team – that they are willing to pay £5M compensation for Steve Bruce to bring him to Newcastle from the Owls.
How’s that for a poor business deal by Mike Ashley.
What a waste of £5M.
And we warned fans that Lee Charnley likes to appoint a manager he can get along with and doesn’t care much about whether they are good, bad or indifferent.
Steve probably fits the indifferent model.
He’s been fired by lots of clubs including Aston Villa who fired him last October after he had only one win in 9 games – and that was in the Championship.
So he fits the requirements of Mike Ashley – but we’re surprised Ashley is willing to pay out £5M for a below average manager.
It’s four weeks today to the end of the transfer window and unclear whether Ashley wants to buy any players.
It will have been a good window for him if he doesn’t and another one where the club makes a sizable profit.
The only problem with that is that Newcastle are likely to be one of the hot favorites for relegation this season.
Another season fighting relegation?
Where’s the joy in supporting Newcastle under miser Mike Ashley?
The owner must be forced to sell the club and the Premier League and FA should be witness to how Ashley is killing the Newcastle United club.
But they do absolutely nothing!
Who can save us now?

Comment #2I’d say it’s logical to suggest that the takeover has fallen through. Likely due to the Ashley side of things. Hard to pinpoint when exactly but now that we’re moving for a new manager all bets are off. Still stuck with Ashley. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Just look at other clubs that have been seamlessly taken over. We’re absolutely unique in the fact that the talks always break down. It’s obvious who the problem is.

No ones sticking the knife in rafa, I’d rather have him here than not. I also dont think he’s helped us much though by telling the likes of arteta and Vieira to stay away from the job, especially if bruce comes in. I’d rather have any of those 2 over bruce and would have been excited to see a young manager tbf.
On a side note, I messaged that lad on twitter regarding 2 tops, he hasn’t come back. You had any luck in getting an order in?

Everybody just calm down FFS, so Steve Bruce is one of the people #nufc are considering. So what? We already knew that. If he gets it, he’s a better manager than many seem to think on here but it is not a done deal yet. He’s just on the shortlist and has been for two weeks.

Comment #16He has to sell at some point, more chance of him selling whilst we are in PL, so yes if Bruce keeps us up we can still hope for a sale next season…… unlikely as it may seem. The vitriol is getting worse and he wont keep us much longer as the tide is completely changing and hopefully if the arsenal game is boycotted in big numbers
If we go down it’s a guarantee he wont sell!!

To the lads saying they’ll support Bruce; how will this help? IMO thats supporting the regime as it is.
Would there still be boycotts if there was no takeover but Rafa had stayed?
The media reporting has no clarity, but I’m starting to think there’s not much among the fans either :/

Please explain to me your thinking behind the statement “he is more likely to sell us in the pl”. The PL where Ashley can enjoy some of the highest television payments of any league in the world. Where it has become so lucrative clubs can buy players for the price of a championship club, where he can have his shop advertised to hundreds of millions for free every week?
That just makes no sense

Comment #39Avoided like the plague by promising managers, turned down by strugging-club specialist Big-Head Sam, and with the prospect of Steve Bruce now , to say this summer at Newcastle is depressingly shambolic and awful so far doesn’t even come close.
Barring an increasingly mirage-like takeover in the next couple of weeks this summer must surely mark a turning point. Even the most loyal/selfish/or indifferent fans must surely say enough is enough.
If this doesn’t light a fire under the fanbase I can’t imagine anything that ever will. And without that there’ll be 12 more years of Ashley chaos and misery with only the odd relegation thrown in to shake things up. It will be, as it has been, everything a football club should not be.
Nobody can rationally expect anything else on the basis of the last 12 years of Ashley misrule. He will never change. Things will not get any better. Premiere league survival at the lowest possible cost will be the only club goal.
Nothing will change unless we make it change. Obviously there is no guarantee of success but doing nothing certainly will guarantee more of the same. What a prospect.
