Report – Sam Allardyce Rejected Newcastle Job Offer Due To Club’s Policies

In what has to be absolutely shocking news if true, the Daily Mail is reporting that Sam Allardyce was offered the Newcastle United manager’s job last week.

This is what Matt Lawton is reporting as an exclusive in the Daily Mail:

Newcastle United offered Sam Allardyce a surprise return as manager last week, Sportsmail can reveal, but the former England boss has rejected the opportunity.

Owner Mike Ashley is understood to have identified the 64-year-old as a replacement for Rafa Benitez, not just because of his track record as a Premier League manager but because he would not cost any money in compensation.

Sources close to the club say Allardyce, who has been out of work since leaving Everton in May last year, was presented with an offer after talks between senior figures at St James’ Park and his representatives last weekend.

But there was an issue over the club’s recruitment policy and a concern that Allardyce would have little if any say over signings. As a consequence talks collapsed and Newcastle now appear focused on recruiting Steve Bruce from Sheffield Wednesday.

We are absolutely astounded at the depths this club has plummeted.

With all due respect to Sam Allardyce, but to fail to secure Rafa Benitez and then go after Sam Allardyce is just beyond belief. To top it off, Ashley couldn’t even get Allardyce to make a return to Newcastle due to his ridiculous conditions.

Sam Allardyce– Wait here. We’re up by one, you’re no longer needed

It is the same old story. What manager would work under these conditions? Rafa Benitez must have really loved the fans to have endured three years of tribulation under this lot.

It’s as if Mike Ashley asked himself who can I hire that would most upset the fans. Next, we’ll be hearing that Alan Pardew was offered a shock return to St James Park. It’s as if he does this on purpose and that is what is most infuriating.

You could also take into consideration the contentious relationship between Rafa and Sam and just imagine Ashley conjuring up a way to get two retributions for the price of one.

Not even Sam Allardyce, who only lasted for just half a season under Ashley in 2007-08, thought he would be a candidate for this position again.

This is what Big Sam had to say to talkSPORT the day after the club announced Rafa’s departure:

“I think we all know the pitfalls of the Newcastle job but you don’t turn it down if it’s offered, if you have any ambition.

“I left Bolton to go to the next level. There has been a lack of real success for many, many years.

“The fans have turned to be more patient – they realise what the club has become.

“It was all about winning a cup competition or Europe when I was there.”

When asked if he thought he would be offered the position, Sam said this:

“I don’t think so. In my time, I was between Freddy Shepherd and Mike taking it. Alan Shearer and Kevin Keegan have gone back and not done as well as expected. It’s all hypothetical – I won’t be offered it.”

Not only did Allardyce not think he would be offered it but he said “you don’t turn it down if it’s offered, if you have any ambition.”

Sam Allardyce, who worked for Ashley, couldn’t even fathom how terrible of a job this has become under this owner. Not until he was face to face with him again.

So BZG sent cryptic shit message saying they and ashley had done everything in their power to get the deal done and that if it didnt get done it would be no fault of either party. What does that mean?
It must be that some other party is stopping it. Maybe its the premier league.
Midhat said prior to that, the deal is still going ahead but in a different way. What does that mean?
All I can think is that Premier League have blocked them and they are trying to find a solution. If thats the case it is going to take longer and therefore we have the manager problem and not long left of transfer window. This is a massive problem as no time means being forced to get in a person BZG wont want long term and make singings that we may not want either. That will once again reflect on the price and the whole thing will need negotiating again. But once again with the threat of relegation. Which once again means no deal until next Summer on the lucky chance we stay up.

This next week or two is the most crucial we have ever known. It is the only chance we can escape this.

We will be trapped in Groundhog Season.

During every transfer window you realise its the same season being played out again.

I added to it ..Steve, stick with Sheff Wed they are a great Club and we wish you all the best.

Strangely enough Jimmy Mullen a mate of mine ..captained them and Managed the Owls for a short time in the 70s.

He played against Pele and Pele give him his tracksuit and his shirt (Santos) Brazil.

Jimmy ran out in front of his Grandfather at Roker park when he first broke into the Sheff Wed team ..Grandfather cried buckets. Jimmy was like a hound around your ankles.
Anyone that knows Jimmy might remember playing snooker at the tute ?

It’s criminal just how much contempt Ashley has for the fans and he has no interest in selling us. Hes a gambler and he’s gambling our epl status with the Bruce appointment. 17th place is a success.

Rafa said he will leave at May. And here we are, with Sam f*King allardyce turning us down and Bruce having the job.

Dear me. What an absolute shi* show nufc is.

Ashley wrongly thinks that wages are the key to finding and keeping a manager. It very obviously isn’t just that. I think he’ll ultimately have to offer a really big wedge, to get anyone sufficiently able and acceptable to the fanbase to come in and aid him in kicking this can down the road sufficiently long enough to sell the club on terms agreeable enough to him, and it may already be too late, and if so we’ll end up with whatever we can get and of course there’ll be hell to pay and probable relegation. It is increasingly looks like the wheels are set to totally fall off.

Accepting that no one really knows what’s going on at NUFC, is anyone surprised with links to FSA or agent Bruce? Cant say Iam!!

Just embarrassing that level of manager knocking us back. It’s like the last desperate throw of the dice with an ugly bird at closing time!! ( no offence to ugly birds intended)

If?? we do spend the stated £61m (plus sales so 91m currently!!) they are probably (FSA most likely) capable of finishing 17th

The spending, if any, will have to be done b4 Arsenal, so if we spend that on (exciting young) players and Mikey is still in charge what do we do re boycott?

If we also sell Longstaff, Schar, Hayden and any one of Lascelles, Almiron, Ritchie, Shelvey generating another £80m what then?

Can anyone truly see us spending £171m in 4 weeks????

Still not convinced by the boycott argument but can see why it would gather serious momentum.

In fact you know what. I really dont care who the manager is. If it was Bruce I would complain, if it was Flores same. If it was Zidane same. It makes no difference at all. It makes no difference who we sign. If we sign a striker for 40m I dont care. Doesnt matter.

Ive got 2 season tickets but Im not going anymore. Paid for in March. Dont care about the money, its gone. Maybe I’ll try and get it back just to be part of the overall initiative.

And I’ll tell you another thing. This Charnley character I see as even more to blame. The owners generally dont have much to do with clubs. So this c*** is the clubs figurehead and he is absolutely determined that he will NOT update the very life force of the club. Year in year out there is a determination that nothing will be said to the very people who are ones that keep the club going. He is a despicable character who sits in his posh seat and is seen shaking his head everytime there are anti ashley songs. Scum of the earth that bloke is. Hes worse than Ashley.

    Get the torches oot

The different NUFC groups should use this fruitless search for a manager to their advantage.

They now have an opportunity to highlight the way the club is being run, and alert any potential manager identified by Ashley, Charley and Wise of the pitfalls involved in accepting the job. This should also include receiving zero support from the fans of this club, as the manager would be seen as supporting the regime.

We do need a capable manager though. It’s no good to us if we get someone who isn’t, leading to inevitable relegation, with the crowd baying for Ashley’s blood. That’s when a sale becomes very remote and the real asset stripping begins in earnest.

When the club answers “no comment ” every time a valid question is asked, I think its the most disrespectful lowest of the low way to treat the supporters who actually line Ashleys pockets with money and feed his terrible avidity for it .

Sam Allardyce turning down the Job ! ..this is the biggest mess and a running Joke of a club and worse than any soap opera Iv ever looked upon, and there’s been a few at this Club!

Ashley by way of arrogance and control gets rid of a world class manager and every manager he approaches is saying , in effect ” UP YOURS ASHLEY! ”

Rafa also advising would be managers against taking the poisoned Chalice up is helping the supporters in the good fight.

Ashley ..is now reaping what he has sown .

Pathetic , really Pathetic ..if ever a word was apt .

Lee Charnley your not fit for purpose You could not organise a piss up in the proverbial.

Ashley had the best Manager we could ever hope for and he made no effort to show him respect or keep him at Newcastle United .

    Big mess now Ashley .

What’s next ? Offering Keegan the Job ?

    Calamity !

OG its beyond belief. What must be said between them at meeting etc?

Even the managers are treat like shit. They must say to each other under no circumstances tell anybody what is going on even the manager. And dont have proper meeting in case they find out what we’re doing.

There are so many examples of petty stupidity throughout these 12 years.

You wouldnt believe how horrible we can be.
Laughing at Keegan behind his back and saying ‘the madness of king kev’.
Discussing Shearers plans for championship season and saying ok we’ll be in touch then not contacting him even 10 years later.
V sign outside the pizza place.
Speaking to a fan who was being polite like a piece of shit outside London pub when surrounded by security.
Asking Hughton if he thought they would stay up and when he gave an honest answer they sacked him the next day.
Giving McClaren and extra 3months when we were 100% going down and everybody knew it. Incredible that one.

The list goes on and on. These are not petty things.

It just seems virtually impossible that a club would bring a new manager in if there was a takeover happening.

I fully agree, with Ashley committed to getting one of these three bids up between now and this time next year.

The great likelihood is he’ll of course go about it much more cheaply and shabbily than it needs to be done, because he can’t help himself, and it’ll become entirely toxic and irredeemable.

Its come to a point where its too late for transfers. Its a shambolic way out club is ran considering a huge win over Fulham on the last day. We all thought things were going up.

No signings. No manager. We lost 52% of our goalscorers. And window closes in 28 days.

Sorry. But its too late to save us now. Just roll on relegation.

A plea to Bruce, please don’t take the Newcastle job, you were not even first choice, you are only asked when big Sam turned it down because of having no control of transfers.

Remember this is why Rafa Did not renew his contract.

Remember McClaren said if he had his time again he would have insisted he had a say in what players came in.

    Pardew ditto.

All the above had no control of transfers. Even you must realise Ashley cannot be trusted. Make a stand and stay where you are with a club and a chairman that appreciates you.

This club is a poisoned chalice for all managers.

Stand up and be a man and say NO to Ashley. Wish you luck at Sheffield Wednesday football club.

Toon groups should use a bit of what Tubbs does to get the headlines. PR /Bogus PR

This theme of not welcoming the next manager just needs tweaking a bit – Toon groups to publicise what a new managers welcome would be – lay it on -even if is not true.

That would get the headlines and Tubbs treatment of the club/fans exposed. Make him the football bogeyman and by association the retail bogeyman.
