Report – Steve Bruce Would Cost Newcastle £5m

The Chronicle has just put out a report on information found in the Times that claim Sheffield Wednesday would require £5m in compensation if he were to leave.

This is part of what is being reported:

Bruce is now Newcastle’s choice to succeed Rafa Benítez. The 58-year-old returned to management in February when he took over at Wednesday and it is understood that a compensation clause of more than £5 million was included in his contract.

The report also confirms the news earlier that Steve Bruce has requested permission to speak to Newcastle.

The Times is reporting that Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is reluctant to let Steve Bruce leave for talks with Newcastle.

If this report is true, you would have to believe that Steve Bruce would be unlikely to get the job. We can’t see Mike Ashley spending £5m on a manager when so many are available for nothing.

There were reports yesterday that the fee was only £1m which would have been a bit more palatable for Ashley.

Steve Bruce– stupid compensation fee

With the squad about to leave for China to begin their preseason tour in a couple of days, the club appear to be no closer to finding a successor to Rafa Benitez.

They have had since May 16th to at least get exploratory irons in the fire as Rafa Benitez indicated he would not return back then.

They have failed to do so and we would not be surprised if they are completely taken aback by the amount of Bruce’s compensation fee.

If Steve Bruce does not become the next manager, who will it be?

Taking into account the club’s apparent thought process, it’s looking likely to be someone like David Moyes, Garry Monk, Martin O’Neill, or Tim Sherwood.

Or it could be Neil Redfearn or Ben Dawson who are almost certain to take the team to China on Saturday. There is no way Lee Charnley will accomplish his task of getting a manager in place by then.

How he still has a job after all of his pitfalls is truly scary.

I report on what is happening in Dubai and BZG. There is no update currently. The focus should be on comms from MA and NUFC. But thanks for all of your messages (most of them :))

Ball is firmly in Ashlie’s court as far as i am concerned.

Well at nearly 80 years of age and over 70 years of supporting, (been there done that got the thrill of been passed from the back to the front over heads at the Leazes end, got my 6p bag of peanuts, followed by a season tickets for the centre paddock when they were introduced, and then a season ticket when the East Stand was built – which I still have), I am so unproud to say that NUFC have finally broken my resolve to follow them through thick and thin.

Mike Ashley you are a disgrace to be linked to our proud region, you have manipulated folks for so long now, do you care – not one jot do you. there was a guy just like you around just after I was borne and that is honestly the comparison I make, I hope you are pleased with the atmosphere in our little bit of Britain, that you have created, please note I have removed the ‘Great’ because as long as there is folks like you around it should not be used.

Where the FA and PL are when they should and must observe what is happening at NUFC beggars believe, suppose if you really needed the money you might think differently Mr Ashley, but you are a playboy and you are using us as your ‘chips’, not any more you ain’t – BYE

PS, my young nephew is off to China this weekend to follow NUFC, that’s what you call a supporter – what do you call yourself.?

I am reposting this from earlier this morning firstly to commend the gentleman who wrote this on his fine words and secondly to highlight to all the PR and Ashley apologists who read this blog what an absolutely disgraceful human being our owner is.

Whilst the club is frantically sifting through the barrel scrapings to find a manager who will toe the line and work with Ashley to allow the club to continue its remit of fleecing the fans and lining the owner’s pockets, perhaps a thought could be spared for the feelings of this senior fan who is one of life’s real people as opposed to the predatorial parasite that owns NUFC.

    SHAME ON YOU MIKE ASHLEY.

Surely this helps convince people not to believe every word the media are spouting about the Ashley / Bruce scenario.

If it is as bad as everyone fears and there is no takeover and Ashley is getting a yes man patsy and it’s back to business as usual then surely we can agree the Fat Slug would NEVER pay £5m compensation for Bruce when the likes of Moyes are unemployed.

Come on please it’s all nonsense. Takeover makes sense, Steve Bruce does not.

You don’t know how evil he (MA) can be,..

I think we’re about to find out. He is rich enough to run our club into the ground, with enough potential earnings to more than break even (£300M-£400M) over the next 3 seasons

If he truly wanted to sell it would be done by now.

Reports suggest that they’ve been in discussions since around February.

There’s one thing I can’t wrap my head around though.

If he does want to stay, why is he giving the fans a huge incentive to boycott? Its just not Ashley’s way of running us.

I really wish someone would spill the beans already. If BZG realise that Ashley is playing the waiting game to get at the fans then surely they will sodd him off? This really does need to be resolved ASAP. Our first game is in 6 games ffs.

Another window where we will be playing catchup with the rest of the league.

I knew Ashley would try to get Allardyce; ever since he was quoted by sky as saying he was “naive” when he first came to the club and regretted letting Sam go. I think what he truly meant by that—this was before he knew he was going to turn the knife on Newcastle as a whole… which didn’t take long.

His b.s. story about not knowing how much debt the club had was never going to wash with fans informative about their club.

What a smack in the face for Ashley. I would bet Ashley was thinking all along…stuff Benitez if he doesn’t like it… I will just get Allardyce in who can do the job with less grief for transfer funds.

I wonder if his Ashley feels he has learned anything since his early naivety at the club. Ashley certainly looks naive with Allardyce singing like a bird to the media.

Why hasnt one of the NUFC groups put the onus on the PL to comment on the situation and also investigate MA’s running of our club?

If and its a big IF the takeover is still with the PL, they need to consider what is going to happen if they dont accept a new owner!!

    Allardyce:

“I was very flattered that I was considered but it’s that thing – don’t go back,”

“It never got to the type of talks people are suggesting but it wasn’t for me. I politely said no.”

Laughable that even Allardyce wouldn’t entertain.working for Ashley, so much so, he didn’t even want to listen to what was on offer. You cannot blag a blagger.

Amerimag that only makes sense if he can get an unemployed manager. However we all know that no one wants the job, hence having to overpay for a clown like Bruce, who SEEMS to be reported as one of the very few willing to take it.

There is no takeover, at least not in this transfer window.

I hope when the dust settles (if there is no takeover), that all the reporters that have spun the TO story begin a witch hunt of MA/LC for answers. They’re taking a shed load of flak off the back of so-called inside sources, they should expose the lot of them!!

If the players and staff left in the club refused to work, I wonder what the PL & FA would think to that! Read a good article last night re: the LMA should be standing up for us, MA has disrespected one of the biggest names in the LMA (Rafa)…

@ToonRich – I emailed the PremierLeague; they said that, basically, the owners test is 100% about finances. Nothing else matters or applies, and because Newcastle United is more or less just a balance sheet, it’s 100% compliant. When I pushed back and asked the PL for their thoughts on Newcastle’s ignorance of the fans forum ‘rule’, they went silent.

In short, nobody gives a toss and there’s nothing we can do. I personally think we’ll have to do a Sunderland. Literally have to fall so low there’s no coverage of his tat shop and no way back without significant investment. He’s an utter fcuking moron, as he’d rather gamble and sell for pennies than do something decent and make it marginally better. If it gets much worse, someone will do something to him, physically. He’s not exactly in hiding; he’ll be in the Orange Tree pub in the next few weeks.

More good points, ToonRich; LMA have said NOTHING about Rafa or the Newcastle situation, same as everyone else. Football is disgusting – it’s self-regulating, as the FA have no power over the PL, and the PL don’t give a toss about anyone not in the big 6. Therefore you can be super rich, descend on a club and do what you want. Most owners want success and associated benefits – our fcuking fat moron, for reasons that seem utterly alien to the rest of the world, isn’t interested in success, positive coverage, etc. He believes he’s more powerful than God.

Still, comes to a close for me – as soon as Bruce is announced, that’s any takeover BS dead and I’m out completely. Burning my kit the day it happens, will encourage my son to follow Man City. Absolutely 100% not joking.

Once business as usual is confirmed you’ll see a different Geordie Animal.
