Comment #1Adam Armstrong just scored from 40 yards, same as Che Adams goal yesterday.
Shame he never made it, would take him over Joe right now tbh.

We won’t see Bobbybee ever again unless Tom Hanks is arrested for conspiracy to distribute and use children’s brains for recreational use. He is frantically typing away on his commodore64 as we speak finding out new information on the fugitives arrest.

I wonder if Blackburn would swap him for Atsu or Murphy. Sounds like we sold the wrong one

Comment #8Armstrong could have been our Aguero but was never going to be strong or quick enough to cut it in the PL, but has good technique and can finish.

Comment #11Just got back from the pub first time since lockdown and catching up with the blog.
What I loved about what I read was how much people come together when needed.
The amount of people giving empathy to tom made me choke up a little 🙂
What I love about some people is when we come together because we feel each other’s pain. Fair play to all 🙂

Embarrassed, not in a million footin years, stubborn and obstinate 100%, embarrassed no way. You’re talking about a man who said his brother was nicked for drink driving and only shifted the car from the back of the house to the front, didn’t mention at all that he went via the A19 to the off licence in Blyth 😮

Sounds similar to Hayden’s red card at Leicester to me. No malice, not much the player could even do necessarily, but could easily do a lot of damage going in like that.

Comment #20It would be an almost injustice if TheTinmen (team) didn’t win the FF league this season—considering how long he has held the lead. There’s no counting out the rest of the top 10/15, though.
I haven’t seen Scythe For Bruce in a while; he’s the one that created Ed’s FF league these past two seasons. I’d like to see the same format kept for next season, so hopefully SFB will show up in time.
It would be interesting to get everybody (or as many as possible) from the blog included next season: especially football blog ‘anorak’ Jib.

Comment #21Mund very well said good post you obviously have a big heart, i think most people on the blog are sound, i think a lot of frustration and anger has resulted in people posting things they are probably regreting now, no excuse, but its never to late for people to change and respect other people view point even if its not what they want to hear as it would be boring if we all agreed all the time Mund, HWTL

Comment #23In respect to the Fantasy Football League
As well as the current league, we should also set up a head to head league, keeps it interesting even if people have lower scores they still could win the league with the format.

That’s nice of you to say I appreciate that.
I am a kind caring person and will stand out for anyone in time of need, not because I want to be seen as that way but on instinct because I believe in any time if needed we should be there for one another. But sadly it’s not always the case but one thing at a time, educate each other and learn from one another and always try to understand.
I know i might of come across as a knob at times but I’m learning and this is my first experience on a social media platform and I’m living and learning every day 🙂

He went from his normally passionate toon related posts in to off the map conspiracy theories. He’s obviously always been a CT-ist but without football to occupy his mind he’s gone in to full “research” (you tube) and there’s no talking these people out of their beliefs, they’ve done so much “research” they’re more clever than everyone else and you won’t understand it???

Comment #26Under Ashley we’ve lost our better players in 3 ways.
One, an irresistibly large offer comes in as in the case with Carroll.
Two, a player gets tapped up by a bigger club, wants to go and digs his heels in, as in the case with Carroll.
Three, we get relegated and sell to balance the books, as in the case with Widjnaldum.
I don’t think that suggests Ashley will look to cash in on St Max or Almiron, but rather indicates a flawed recruitment policy where for every good player we bring in, and there have been quite a few, there’s also a mediocre recruit, and a poor one, meaning lower mid table sides and occasional relegation, and that’s essentially why we lose our better players.

Comment #33Can’t see us going down next year.
Even this group of players would have enough to stay up in a 4231 set up so long as we play Joel as a wide attacker and not up top.
Dubravka
Darlow
Gillespie
Krafth
Manquillo
Yedlin
Dummett
Schar
Lejeune
Lascelles
Fede
Clark
Shelvey
Hayden
Longstaff
Longstaff
Almiron
Joel
St Max
Ritchie
Atsu
Carroll
Gayle
Muto
I can see Ashley saying, ok we are solid enough, but let’s look around, and recruit if we can unearth something like a St Max, and bring in a decent loan or two, if we can.
Sigh!!!!!!
Business as usual, unless the sale goes through, only this time infront of only 30 000 paying customers.

Comment #34Very torn on tomorrow again now after Arsenal drew today. There’s a slim chance of 7th again and although it’s a huge ask, city are only mortal and they’ve lost 9 games this season already. It’s probably too late for us now, but at the same time if we can find a way past city like saints did the other night and take a win at Watford, we could find ourselves right back in the race for Europa.
Do we cut our losses and blood some youngsters? While there’s still a real prize on the line, I can’t say I’m too comfortable with the idea of not going for it here and seeing where we end up. It’s a very long shot, but you never know.

We do seem to be stuck in a loop of selling proven PL quality players approaching their peak and buying average younger ones in bulk to replace them. It’s a real lottery of a strategy and it’s very rarely yielded results for us.
I think it’s clear that our recruitment team needs improving, as well as our coaching set-up, training facilities and medical department. The club appears to be desparately lacking in investment in basic infrastructure and staffing compared to other mid-table sides, so it’s amazing we attract players like ASM in the first place. If we don’t offer them the same opportunities to work under quality staff and have access to proper facilities, many will look elsewhere. Plenty already have.

Comment #40Mmmm, yeah, if the players get disheartened, because of a poor window, then yes, then it could easily go tits up, with a few downing tools and wanting out.
Sigh!!!
Still, it might not happen. 🙂
I’m very much in the camp of if the Saudi’s pass the OTD, the club will be sold, and as Caulkin says, in the EPL, money always wins.
