Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram will reportedly be made available by manager Chris Wilder after attempts to agree on a new contract with the 26-year-old have proven unsuccessful thus far.
The former-Everton Academy product has just one year remaining on the contract he signed when he joined the Blades from Oxford United in 2017. So rather than risk losing Lundstram for free next summer, they’ll listen to any offers despite him being a key player for them last term.
Sky Sports is reporting that 4 unnamed Premier League clubs have been alerted and are now considering a move for the Liverpool-born Lundstram.
The midfielder had a first-rate inaugural season in the Premier League for the Blades last term. He made 36 appearances with 5 goals and 3 assists. He could be the box-to-box midfielder that Steve Bruce so desperately wants to add to the squad.
Lundstram started out at the Everton Academy but never managed a first-team appearance at Goodison Park. He was sent out on loan six times before linking up with Oxford United as a free agent in 2015. He then joined Sheffield in 2017.
Newcastle could do worse than adding the former England U20 international to the ranks this summer should they be able to negotiate a cut-rate deal for him.
But nevertheless, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Lundstram, who played such a pivotal role in Sheffield’s magical return to the Premier League.
Note – here’s a petition to sign to get an independent review of the EPL Takeover process – please sign it – thanks.

I don`t want to sound like John Mcenroe but you cannot be serious when you name those players as part of a better strength in depth squad.
Lets go through those names shall we? You get my point Kev dont you.?
There are only 2 players you mention can hold their heads up this season and those are Lazaro and Willems, who have only played minor roles over a full season.
The rest You were joking right. Rose by the way is a liability, Bentleg is shite as is Krapp, and Carroll? and he had a squad number for how many games played., what a joke.

No I don’t get your point mate. Are you of the opinion that Willems didn’t improve us at left-back? Or that Lazaro wasn’t better than Atsu? Or that ASM wasn’t sensational all season?
Do you think that we would have picked up the same number of points if we’d finished the season with no natural LB in the side (as would’ve been the case had Rose not arrived) or only one CM (Shelvey) fit for a few games had we not brought Bentaleb in? How would we have fared if we didn’t have Krafth to fill in when everyone else was injured or struggling for fitness?
Aside from ASM and Willems, most of them may not have added much in terms of quality beyond what we already had in the starting XI, but they undoubtedly added depth to the squad and we also undoubtedly needed that extra depth with all the injuries we picked up through the season.

Comment #14It’s simple, if we are to have any chance next season we need two goal scorers, use the 30 to get two, sell a few players to make it a bigger pot and fill in other positions with free transfers, hopefully come January we are owned by Amanda and her group and can go out and get some real talent.
We can only hope things get fixed, we can only hope the Premier league realize there are in a shit storm, we can only hope MA is pushing parliament to get some answers and we can only hope that all the above panes out to save our club.

Willems was superb. Best LB we’ve had in years.
I thought Lazaro looked decent too but Bruce barely used him.
Rose was competent; somewhat underwhelming for a former England international, but he wasn’t terrible. I thought he was at a similar level to Dummett before he got injured. Not worth signing permanently but more useful than Barecca who managed 1 appearance the season before.
Bentaleb never really got a good run of games to show what he can do. Most of his games came in rotated sides or sides where we had key players missing though injury. Admittedly he didn’t show anything special when he did play, but he wasn’t terrible. Just not great.

You said Bruce had a better and more in depth squad of players this season right.
He lost our 2 biggest goal contributors in one go before the season kicked off, and got Joelinton and an almost permanantly injured Carroll in , 25 goals lost immediately.
Willems was an improvement at left back but got injured after less than half a season.
Kraft and Bentaleb have been so poor they can hardly be classed as bench warmers, they only got a game bcos of injuries to much better players.
The only player who has been a real ASSET is ASM, a wonderfully gifted lad who will end up at a top club.
For you to say that the players you mentioned made our squad stronger than last season is way off the mark.
25 goals or more a season is a lot of firepower to lose, especially when you think of who replaced them.

Comment #19The Reason fans are so warm towards Rafa is because he believed in the club and the fans.
He saw the potential and tried to show Ashley the way, as they say you can lead a horse to water.
When there’s a owner who doesn’t give a toss and a manager with a passion for footbal like Rafa the fans will always stand up for the manager
Bruce has pretty much toed the party line since he got here, all the classics are back, waiting for him to dedicate a win to Ashley.
Some may say Rafa didn’t play attracive football but it was organised and there was tactics not the seat of your pants BS Bruce serves up.
Nufc are bottom of every stat and the injury list is huge after Rafa got most out the treatment room, Bruce has them all back in it.
We’ve been abysmal, worse football than under Rafa, worse injuries.
We played decent and deserved to win about 5 times, rest of it we were SHIT.
Slightly better than Carvew would be my take on Bruce.

Comment #22The point is those players didn’t improve the squad quality level, or have anything close to the match day impact of Perez and Rondon. ASM is the exception but even he took a few games to show he was starting material, and after that missed a third of the season to injury. The rest were squad filler of permacrocks.

Comment #26The EPL has form when it comes to sorting “dodgy” owners. Southampton had a buyer who didn’t have the funds and they gave them 6 months to sort it. Does that mean they have a soft centre and will cave in under the pressure? That of course depends whether the PIF are still interested!

Comment #27OP – Bruce believes in the club and the fans.
You might not rate him but it’s a strange accusation to level. Maybe he needs to leave us for China and a 12m per year pay package before you feel a manager really has interests of the club at heart.

Comment #28Mr Lavery added: “The situation at Newcastle United highlights a much broader problem within football.
“And that is, who exactly is running football in this country?
“There’s a lot of executives and a lot of appointees but we are sadly lacking a voice of reason for supporters associations at any level in football.
“Whether that is non-league right up to the top of Premier League.
“That is the big failing.
“These organisations operate in secrecy and the only thing they bear in mind is the finances for their own organisations when there is a lack of voice from communities up and down this country – many of whom pay their hard-earned cash every week to see their favourite football club but still have no say whatsoever in the running of the clubs.
This guy asked what I wanted to know. Who actually controls these organisations? Who EPL needs to answers to? If not they can just play mute and tide this over I’m afraid.

Maybe you should check back to his Norwich days when he said of Nufc
“Id never go to THAT club”
Or how about when he knocked us back years ago?
Bruce has never ever been flattering or positive about NUFC or its fans, until Ashley filled his pockets.
Give your head a wobble Pat, this is his last chance in the big time and NO other PL club would touch him!

It wasn’t a case of Perez and Rondon out, AC and Joelinton in. ASM was Perez’ replacement, and is the best outfield player in the team currently. I wouldn’t swap him back for Perez.
Also, Willems was fit for the first 20+ games of the season. He only missed the final 16 or 17 I think. So definitely more than half a season.
Replacing Rondon with Joelinton weakened us, but there’s nothing to say that he would have replicated their previous season’s form under Bruce. Plenty of our other players (Sean L, Schar, Lejeune, etc) went on the decline this year and we weren’t anywhere near as well drilled in attack under Bruce.
My suspicion is that Rondon would’ve struggled under Bruce too. He only scored 24 on 108 appearances for West Brom before we bought him, and his season under Rafa was a big improvement on previous years.
Bruce would’ve probably got him injured early on anyway as he managed to do with just about everyone barring Joelinton.

The EPL is at the mercy of the clubs. The 20 clubs that make up the PL effectively own the league on a shareholder basis, with the FA only really holding power to veto their decisions in limited circumstances.
