Newcastle Hope To Get Transfer Business Moving Today

Thursday, July 30th, 2015 · 24 Comments

Steve McClaren is hoping that Chancel Mbemba’s delayed signing will finally be completed today, when the three man committee of the FA will finally get around to meeting to give the player their approval, so that he can then get a visa.

With Newcastle waiting almost a week for that to happen, hopefully everything else is in place to get the deal sealed as soon as today.

McClaren On Aleksandar Mitrovic – He’s A Bit Of A Devil

Thursday, July 30th, 2015 · 14 Comments

Steve McClaren stressed after the game, that Aleksandar Mitrovic had only one day training ahead of last night’s game at York, and the plan was to play him only for the first half,  but the 20 year-old wanted to play on, and so McClaren gave him another 25 minutes until he was taken off after 70 minutes.

Newcastle Trying To Close Deals For Four Players

Wednesday, July 29th, 2015 · 153 Comments

Newcastle United are reported to be still interested in signing Florian Thauvin, even though a £12M bid by the Magpies was turned down by Marseilles,  who are said to value their winger at £15M.

That’s not a huge gap to close, so maybe a slightly higher bid by Newcastle could still clinch the deal, although Tottenham are now said to also be interested.

Newcastle Surprisingly Lose 2-1 To York

Newcastle went down 2-1 to York City tonight in what was a surprising result, after Newcastle started the game as though they were going to win the match in a canter.

But with two goals in four minutes after 16 minutes from the home side – those goals changed the game – and Newcastle after 20 minutes were stunned to find themselves 2-0 down to the League Two side, after having it all their way in the first 16 minutes.

The Newcastle defense was again porous and Newcastle have to strengthen central defense soon and bring in another top center-back in addition to Mbemba.

Perez pulled one back for the visitors after 75 minutes, but Newcastle couldn’t get that second goal to at least save face, and that was York”s first win in pre-season.

It’s been a hectic pre-season for Newcastle (too many games) and after playing at Sheffield United on Sunday, Newcastle will play York City tonight at Bootham Crescent on what will be a rain-sodden pitch.

Steve McClaren has just announced his team and there will be chances given to a number of fringe players – Bigirimana, Ferguson, Satka and Abeid all start – and new signing Aleksandar Mitrovic gets his first start and first appearance for the Magpies tonight.

The senior players are being held back for the final game of pre-season against Borussia Monchengladbach at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon – 3:00pm kick-off – and then there will be 8 days before we host Southampton in our Premier league kick-off.
