Alan Pardew talked fondly on Thursday about Gabby Obertan, whose career looked over at Newcastle at the end of last season, but the 25 year-old has stuck in during training and kept his head down, and the former French U21 International (11 caps) has managed to get himself a starting place in the side, after playing very well for Newcastle on the right wing this season – so far.

Nigel Pearson was appointed an assistant coach at Newcastle in October, 2006 by Glenn Roeder to replace the departed Kevin Bond, and Nigel stayed on ntil February of 2008, after Sam Allardyce had been fired and replaced by Kevin Keegan, and Kevin brought in Chris Hughton that month.
