To concede goals from set plays is never very good for any side, since the lads practice defending corners and free kicks every week in training,  but the two goals in the first 16 minutes yesterday were both from corners, and Jonny Evans and Patrice Evra were there to head the ball home almost unchallenged.

Newcastle’s Dismal Display Points To Missed Summer Opportunity

We had mentioned in one of our articles leading up to the game yesterday,  that the last time we had heard Alan Pardew so upbeat and positive, and talking about attacking the opposition from the first whistle, was back at Tottenham earlier this year, when we conceded four goals in the first half and lost that game 5-0.

Resistance Mounting To Wonga Shirt Deal

There is a growing concern, and even outrage, that Newcastle will be entering into a sponsorship deal with Wonga, the payday loan lenders, who charge outrageous interest rates to the very people who do not have much money and cannot afford it – and there’s always been a morality question over companies who do these kinds of financial deals.
