A heart warming story in the Evening Chronicle today,  about what happened on Tuesday night, after Cheick Tiote accidentally smashed the ball into the face of a young 7 year-old St. Mirren supporter in the crowd.

7 year-old Fraser Peters was hit by a mis-hit ball from Cheick during the first half of the game on Tuesday night, and the ball hit the schoolboy in the head, and he was left close to tears.

But Cheick came out at half time to apologize to the youngster, and that’s shown in the photograph below, and Cheick also handed over his shirt and a ball – which had been signed by all the Newcastle players.

And both lads also got the chance to meet the Newcastle squad after the game too.

Cheick Tiote apologizing to 7 year-old Frazer Peters at half time

Fraser is an avid young St Mirren supporter and he said this today:

“It was sore when the ball hit me on the face but Cheick came over at half-time and gave me his Newcastle shirt to make up for it.”

“I also got to meet the rest of the Newcastle team at the end of the match and I took my brother Scott with me.” “The players gave me a signed ball and I shook hands with some of them.”

“Cheick’s top is now worth a million pounds to me. I’ll keep it with all my favorite toys.”

It’s quite a toy.

The two schoolboys had gone to the game with their grandfather Graham McGee, and this is what grandpa said:

“It was a great gesture from Tiote and from Newcastle.” “Fraser and eight-year-old Scott are keen footballers.”

This is a great story and shows something we always knew about Cheick Tiote – he has a heart of gold – and we knew that because of the way he supports his brothers and sisters in the Ivory Coast with his Newcastle pay check.

This was a classy action by Newcastle on Tuesday night – and we won the game 2-0 too. 😀

This Could Be Good News On The Gomis Front

Friday, August 2nd, 2013 · 50 Comments

At least one French player in the Newcastle squad, Moussa Sissoko, has mentioned Bafetimbi Gomis on his Twitter account, and we would expect that some of our other French Internationals who know Bafe, could be sending him messages of support and telling him some very good things about Newcastle. We hope that’s happening.
