Poll: Newcastle Fans Hopeful Of Win Against Arsenal

Friday, August 28th, 2015 · 8 Comments

Newcastle do not have a good record against Arsenal and we have lost the last seven meetings, and we haven beaten Arsenal since November, 2010 when Chris Houghton was manager.

That was at the Emirates, when we took them apart 1-0,  with a headed goal from Andy Carroll just before the half time break.

And it’s ten years since we last beat Arsenal at St James’ Park – so we cannot say that we get 3 points against Arsenal too often can we?

Friday, August 28th, 2015 · 32 Comments

There was a piece during Stave McClaren’s press conference today and one report mentioned that Steve has been more successful than any other Newcastle manager in terms of getting Mike Ashley to open up the check book to buy some good players.

Steve McClaren said the plan was to spend big before he came in and that’s what’s happened.

McClaren On Thauvin – A Great Addition To The Club

Friday, August 28th, 2015 · 9 Comments

Steve McClaren in his press conference today covered a wide range of issues, as the questions came in thick and fast on a number of different topics.

One of the things Steve emphasized was that Newcastle would have to be better than we were last week in those first 20 minutes, and we’d have to be better in holding the ball than we were at Old Trafford, if we are to have any chance of getting a result tomorrow against Arsenal.

At one point in the press conference, Steve said Newcastle were about 50% of where we need to be in last week’s game – if we are to be a really good side.

McClaren Happy With This Part Of Newcastle Team

Friday, August 28th, 2015 · 16 Comments

In his press conference today Steve McClaren has said we are not interested in 22 year-old Wolves striker Benik Afobe, who Newcastle have been linked over the last few weeks.

We have also been linked with Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan, who is also 22, and since Charlie Austin wasn’t mentioned we assume Newcastle are no longer interested in the 26 year-old..

Steve has also said he doesn’t expect to lose any players he wants to keep – before the transfer window slams shut next Tuesday night at 6:00pm.

Steve McClaren To Keep Newcastle Squad Intact

Friday, August 28th, 2015 · 5 Comments

Steve McClaren is giving his press conference at the moment, and he has given out some information on the transfer window which ends on Tuesday night at 6:00pm.

Steve has said he doesn’t expect to lose any players by then (that he wants to keep).

If we can keep players like Cheick Tiote, Mike Williamson, Papiss Cisse and Gabby Obertan at Newcastle, then these players can still do a job for Newcastle this season, and the first three have ample experience in the Premier League and have been starters for Newcastle.

It Feels Like A New Era For Newcastle United

Friday, August 28th, 2015 · 73 Comments

Steven Taylor has a good chance of keeping his place tomorrow when we entertain Arsenal, and we will try to beat the Gunners for the first time in five years.

That last time we did that was in early November of 2010, when an Andy Carroll headed goal did it for us, and Chris Hughton was still the manager.
