Can Newcastle Extend Unbeaten Run To 5 Wins In 7 Games?

Saturday, February 18th, 2017 · 45 Comments

The last time we were beaten in the league was that shock 1-0 loss at Blackburn Rovers on Monday January 2nd, when we missed so many chances in  the first half, it was almost criminal.

We lost pitifully since that game at Oxford United 3-0, in what was an embarrassing defeat and very poor second half display, essentially from a second eleven.

But since the Blackburn defeat we have four wins and two draws for 14 points  in our last six league games – a decent 14 points.

Newcastle Must Guard Against Any Surprises Against Villa

Saturday, February 18th, 2017 · 3 Comments

Aston Villa are not doing well at the moment and have lost their last four games, so when you take a cursory looks at the Newcastle vs Aston Villa game on Monday night you would expect us to win the game.

But these are sometimes the games when big shocks occur and certainly over the last 15 games of the season we must get as many wins as possible and a draw or a defeat are simply points lost – if we want to get promoted in an automatic position.

The more wins we can get the sooner we can be promoted, so it’s always important to win games.

Rafa Laments Loss Of Midfielder But Praises Returning Star

Saturday, February 18th, 2017 · 1 Comment

It was bad news for Newcastle fans when they heard yesterday that Isaac Hayden was undergoing surgery  on his injured ankle and when asked how long he would be out Rafa Benitez said about four weeks.

And at the same time he said Vurnon Anita had participated in the training session and it is exactly five weeks today that the Dutchman was injured at Brentford.

Of course Anita has spent a career playing defensive midfield, but Rafa has turned him into a top class right back over the last eleven months.

At their press conferences the experienced managers such as Rafa Benitez and Antonio Conte are often asked about certain news stories going on in the media and what they think about them.

Yesterday in Rafa’s press conference for the game at home to Aston Villa on Monday night, he was asked about Arsene Wenger’s situation at Arsenal, after they were taken apart 5-1 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League last Wednesday.
