Arsene Wenger Compares Coach To Sir Bobby Robson

Thursday, August 27th, 2015 · 17 Comments

Sir Bobby Robson was one of the best English football managers ever, and he had great success initially at Ipswich before becoming the England manager in 1982, after managing Ipswich Town for 13 years.

Bobby went on to take England to the quarter finals of the World Cup in 1986, when we were beaten by the hand of God (translation – cheating by Maradona when he punched the ball home), and then to the semi-finals in 1990, when we were beaten on penalties by West Germany.

Thursday, August 27th, 2015 · 109 Comments

Daryl Janmaat  was our Player of the Season, and he got 53% of the vote followed by Ayoze Perez with 18% and Jack Colback with 16%.

Daryl has been speaking to the Dutch press today, and for the second time in a year he has been left out of the Dutch squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Newcastle Star – It’s Been Difficult – I Need The Games

Thursday, August 27th, 2015 · 8 Comments

Siem de Jong is one of the class players Newcastle have signed over the last year, but last season was a nightmare for the Dutchman,  in terms of injuries and he played only 5 times for the first team.

But he is now fit again and played the full 90 minutes against Northampton Town on Tuesday night,  and scored the second goal – set up by new boy Florian Thauvin –  to show he’s lost none of his class.

It’s Still A Dream For Me To Be Playing For Newcastle

Thursday, August 27th, 2015 · 11 Comments

Rolando Aarons hasn’t been able to become a starter for Newcastle – not yet anyway – and he still has only one year left on his contract at Newcastle, so we are hoping that before too long he will sign a new long term deal at the club.

But he’s been interviewed today in the Shields Gazette and he comes across in a very positive way.

Poll – Can Magpies Beat Arsenal To Make It Two Wins In A Row?

Thursday, August 27th, 2015 · 21 Comments

Newcastle have drawn, lost, drawn and won in their four games played this season, with the only poor performance being against Swansea, when we were reduced to 10 men just before the break at the Liberty Stadium.

Newcastle had a good 4-1 win at home to Northampton on Tuesday night in the League Cup, with essentially a second team playing, but there were some good performances in that game.

Uruguayan International Overpriced – Newcastle Balk

Wednesday, August 26th, 2015 · 45 Comments

We have said recently that now we have Aleksandar Mitrovic on the books,  and Ayoze Perez looks as good as ever, then as long as we keep Papiss Cisse at Newcastle we don’t really need to bring in another striker – and certainly don’t need to spend big money for one.

And there’s report in Le10 Sport that Newcastle may not bother with another bid for 22 year-old Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan, because he’s been priced too high at €20M – which is around £14.6M at today’s exchange rates.
