Newcastle In For Russian International Striker?

This lad played against us in our last  game against Reading – and there’s some surprise news today that Newcastle are linked with Reading’s 29 year-old Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak.  The news is that the player is wanted by both Rubin Kazan and Newcastle, according to Russian daily Izvestia.

Newcastle Bid £12M For Top Ivorian Striker

The Sunday Telegraph is reporting that Newcastle are closing in on the £12M transfer of Vitesse striker Wilfried Bony.   The Ivory Coast International joined the Dutch club in 2011 from Sparta Prague, and he is one of the in-form strikers in Europe this season having scoring 22 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for Vitesse.

Newcastle United Linked With Standard Liege Midfielder

Newcastle have been linked again with French midfielder William Vainqueur, who we were linked with earlier this month.  The player was born in Neuilly-sur-Marne in France (where else? ) and started his career at Nantes, before joining Belgium club Standard Liege in August of  2011 on a five year contract, and he has one cap for the France U21 side, which he picked up back in 2009.

Strange Open Letter From Coloccini Thanking San Lorenzo

The Newcastle captain  Fabricio Coloccini has issued a statement thanking FC San Lorenzo for trying to take him back to Argentina this month, but he says nothing at all about what he put Newcastle United through over the last few weeks – which was linked with him wanting to return to South America because of  some personal situation with his family – who have already returned to Argentina.

Newcastle Bid For Striker Turned Down – Now What?

We had reported earlier today that Newcastle had put in a €10.5M bid (£8.6M) for St. Etiienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and there is news the French club have quickly rejected the bid.   The 23-year-old Gabon international attracted interest from Newcastle some weeks ago, although Loic Remy was our number one target – but it does seem that Mike Ashley is trying to get another striker into the club before the transfer window closes next Thursday.
