Newcastle have every right to feel aggrieved about the result of this game,  as a controversial 90th minute goal was allowed by referee Mark Halsey even though it was clear that Maynor Figueroa had handled the ball in the build up to the goal.

Massadio Haidara Suffers Serious Injury In Wigan Loss

After 22 minutes of today’s game at the DW Stadium saw Massadio Haidara, who had just come on for Debuchy, who suffered a hamstrung pull, badly fouled and injured by McManaman who flew in with a knee high tackle, and amazingly referee Mark Halsey didn’t even give the Wigan man a warning when he really should have seen a straight red card.

Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player In 2-1 Loss To Wigan?

A 90th minute winner by Arouna Koné keeps Newcastle in relegation trouble as we are now just 6 points above Wigan, and Wigan has never been a happy hunting ground for Mewcastle in recent years and it wasn’t today as Wigan got only their third win at home this seasomn in the league.

A terrible result for Newcastle this afternoon, and yet another away defeat.
