Joey Barton Willing To Fight For Newcastle Place

Thursday, September 27th, 2007 · 13 Comments

Creative midfielder Joey Barton is hoping to make his comeback against Everton in the game after next – so he’s not too far away from playing in the first team again – which has to be some good news for us – for a change – on the injury front.

The 25-year-old will begin full contact training at Newcastle’s Benton training ground next week and it looks like after that it’s just Joey needing some match practice before he’s available again for selection.

Rogg Complains About Newcastle – Again

Thursday, September 27th, 2007 · 8 Comments

Newcastle United have again been given some heat for their handling of Michael Owen’s latest injury by Dudley Rogg, clinic director of the British Hernia Center, which he founded.

This was the guy who last week said Michael should be operated on immediately so he could be fit for England’s European qualifying games so we now take whatever he says with a large pinch of salt.

Let’s take a look at his gripe with us today.

Sam – Owen Does Not Have a Hernia

Thursday, September 27th, 2007 · 7 Comments

Sam Allardyce has again talked about Michael Owen’s injury situation and Sam says Michael has not got a hernia and does not need an operation on it.

We’re going to have to be very careful reporting this because there are so many stories flying around and we’re not sure which is the truth.

These quotes are directly from Sam at the training ground yesterday afternoon – so we’ll take a look at what he said.

Martins Ready to Produce on Saturday

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 · 20 Comments

Oba Martins talked today about the game last night and he is very disappointed for the Newcastle fans.

Oba believes it’s a game Newcastle could have still won and admits he did miss a few chances. But he comes across with great honesty and he is now concentrating on the next game at Manchester on Saturday.

We need Oba operating at his very best – because we know he can get the job done in Owen’s absence.

Joey Barton Almost Ready for Newcastle Comeback

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 · 13 Comments

Joey Barton was at the Emirates Stadium last night and asked to be part of the official Newcastle squad just to warm up with the first team, as they prepared for the game against Arsenal.

The former Manchester City player is so keen to be part of the action again that he did the same thing at Derby County on Monday night and attended the reserves’ 2-0 defeat against Middlesbrough.

Final Reflections on the Arsenal Newcastle Game

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 · 23 Comments

So it seems that it’s all back to doom and gloom in Newcastle now that we are out of the Carling Cup.

But hey, let’s not get too disheartended and remember the defense played very well in the first half and were even a tough nut to crack in the second.  We’ll not be playing too many teams as good as Arsenal this season – thank goodness.

Here are our final reflections on the game last night – but a win at Manchester on Saturday will do wonders to restore our spirits.

We’ve decided to make a little change on the Newcastle United Blog and we’re not going to produce the Major Newcastle News Stories each day. Some of the feedback we got was that it was a little repetitious. However, we will continue every day to produce our funny football quotes. That’s so we can all have a laugh at some of the managers’ and players’ quotes :D

“Rome wasn’t built in a day – but I wasn’t on that particular job” – Brian Clough

“I never comment on referees and I’m not going to break the rule for that twat”  -  Ron Atkinson

“Hoddle hasn’t been the Hoddle we know. Neither has Robson.”  -  Ron Greenwood

“I once told Gazza his IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: “What’s an IQ?”  -  George Best

Newcastle Was Near a MeltDown With Debts

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 · 14 Comments

Chris Mort has revealed the ways in which the club were run under Freddy Shepherd and the old board but our new chairman was quick to point out his comments were not meant to be a criticism of the old board.

I’m sure that’s what Chris meant but he’ll learn fairly quickly that negative criticism and negative stuff in general is what the local papers want in order to sell their stuff. And the comment was to the Sun newspaper   :(

Let’s see what Chris really said and what we can glean from this.
