Oba – Early Goal Would Help Beat Everton

Saturday, October 6th, 2007 · 9 Comments

Oba Martins is certainly looking forward to the game against Everton tomorrow and he mentions what Sam has been saying all week.

It will be an opportunity for Newcastle to take advantage of Everton’s tiredness, from their excursions in the Ukraine on Thursday evening.

Oba also points out that Newcastle expect to start fast out of the blocks, and of course an early goal would be great. That would quickly make the game a little bit of a hill to climb for the Everton players.

Sam – Milner Needs More Sleep than Training

Saturday, October 6th, 2007 · 12 Comments

One of our very best young guns, James Milner, has had a tremendous run in the Newcastle side since the beginning of last season.

During the defeat at Manchester City last Saturday James looked particularly sharp again, especially in the first half.

His performances have not gone unnoticed by Big Sam, and while Sam sings the praises of James today, he is also very sage and even a little worried about James’ physical and mental state, because of all the game James has played during that time.

McClaren – Owen will Start against Estonia

Saturday, October 6th, 2007 · 8 Comments

If Michal Owen is fit he will start England’s game against Estonia next Saturday.

That’s what Steve McClaren said today regarding the situation with Michael Owen, who trained yesterday and will train today with the Newcastle squad.

Sam Allardyce yesterday was quite optimistic about Owen being available for the crucial game with Everton at St James’ Park.

Clean Sheet and Oba Goal – Perfect

Friday, October 5th, 2007 · 9 Comments

Sam has talked about Oba Martins and keeping a clean sheet on Sunday.

That could have been the story of the game against Man City last weekend.

Oba put us ahead with a wonderfully taken goal lose on the half hour mark and if we could have held on it was all 3 points in the bag.   But then the defense let us down with giving away 2 poor goals. That just cannot happen on Sunday.

Owen Should Not Be Risked Against Everton

Friday, October 5th, 2007 · 14 Comments

Michael Owen was training today with his colleagues at the Benton training Facility in Newcastle.

Provided there are no ill effects, Sam says he will name the England striker in the Newcastle squad for Sunday’s home game with Everton.

Michael will train again tomorrow and it will be interesting to see if Sam will include him in his final 16 on Sunday.

Sam Banks On Defense and Clean Sheet

Friday, October 5th, 2007 · 8 Comments

Sam Allardyce hopes Newcastle can keep a clean sheet on Sunday because if we can that will almost guarantee that we will take all 3 points from visitors Everton.

Newcastle have a very good record at home this season and have conceded only one goal in their 4 home games so far while scoring 6.

Sam is also hoping to cash in on the possible fatigue among Everton’s players after their UEFA Cup exploits in Ukraine on Thursday.

Viduka Will Prove His Worth To Newcastle

Friday, October 5th, 2007 · 35 Comments

Big Sam has been singing the praises of Big Mark Viduka, and rightly so.

Mark is a massive specimen at 6′ 2” and he is great at holding up the ball and playing it off and provides a very physical presence up front.

If Heskey is good playing with Michael Owen for England we see no reason at all why Viduka cannot be just as good a partner for Michael.
