Newcastle Need Some Heroes Against Arsenal

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 · 67 Comments

Sam talks to the press every day now and inevitably he is forced to defend his position at the club, and not surprisingly he’s been doing that today too.

Sam’s right to point out that until the Reading game we were doing well and had our best start in 10 years.

Sam Shook Hands with Ashley After Saturday’s Game

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 · 17 Comments

There’s been a lot of talk in the popular press about Alan Shearer being lined up for the Newcastle manager job, on a contingency basis, in case Newcastle slide even further into mediocrity.

But after Arsenal we have four games we can win. Two away from home and two at home. We’re sure Sam and the players will be concentrating on that. It also turns out that Mike Ashley and Sam had a good talk after the game on Saturday, and we’re sure Mike was pleased with the performance if not the result.

Beye – We Need Win Against Arsenal

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 · 60 Comments

One of the players we have liked this season, and think has done a reasonable job of adjusting to the Premiership, is Senegal and former Marseilles defender, Habib Beye.

He was one of the few players to play a decent game against Liverpool, and he had another solid game at Blackburn on Saturday, when he again had to fill in for the injured Abdoulaye Faye.

News is leaking out today from both the Newcastle Evening Chronicle and the Shields Gazette, that Sam Allardyce had a meeting with three of his senior players last Tuesday morning.

The new being reported is that Sam told them he was going to sink or swim on the tactics he has used all his managerial life, that brought success to Bolton Wanderers. In other words Sam told them thanks, but no thanks – I’ll do it my way.

Newcastle After Manchester United’s Wes Brown

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 · 22 Comments

Manchester United players Wes Brown and Mikail Silvestre were two of Sam Allardyce’s preferred targets during the summer, but he was unable to get either one of them to leave the Manchester giants.

However, defender Wes Brown has today been linked with a January move to Newcastle United, after it has been revealed that he has just rejected a new four-year deal at the Premier League Champions.

Newcastle Fans Can Make Difference Against Gunners

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 · 22 Comments

Sam Allardyce seems upbeat after the good performance at Blackburn on Saturday but he regrets Newcastle couldn’t put more of the seemingly easy chances away, in the second half.

The upcoming game against Arsenal will be really tough, but the Newcastle faithful can help big time on Wednesday night.

Smith – Newcastle Fans Unreal at Blackburn

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 · 18 Comments

Alan Smith was included in the team on Saturday, but surprisingly replaced Mark Viduka up front.

In retrospect, it was clear why Sam wanted him in the team, because you can rely on Alan to give a committed performance, even when he’s not particularly playing well.

Magpies Need Committed Performance Against Arsenal

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 · 14 Comments

Sam Allardyce talked about the game against Blackburn on Saturday this morning to the Newcastle Journal.

While the first half was a cagey one for both sides at Ewood Park on Saturday, once the second half got under way it was clear that both teams were going for the jugular.

Sam Still Worried About Defensive Lapses

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

It seems like a perennial problem at Newcastle United – the injury problems we always seem to have at the club. Once again Sam is finding it difficult to pick a good defensive unit because of injuries.

Both Abdoulaye Faye and Stephen Carr were introduced again against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, but both of them came off with new injuries, although we don’t think they are too serious in nature.
