Martins to Manchester United – No Way

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007 · 60 Comments

The Sun is reporting that the shock new name on Manchester United’s radar is Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins.

They go on to reveal Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson has made enquiries about Martins as he bids to solve his early-season goalscoring crisis. Manchester United have only two points from their first 3 games and have scored just one goal.

How true is this story? It could be that Ferguson would like Martins but there’s no way at all he’ll get him.

Why is Emre Off to Play for Turkey?

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007 · 13 Comments

Newcastle United midfielder Emre Belozoglu has been missing from Newcastle’s line-up since last April and yet has been named in Turkey’s squad for Wednesday’s friendly with Romania.

We all know that players are most susceptible to injury when they are returning from an injury, so why on earth is Emre willing to play for Turkey as his first game back?

The very last thing we want is for Emre to aggravate his ankle on international duty.

Why Would Ashley Want to Sell Newcastle?

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007 · 15 Comments

The news that broke yesterday that two Icelandic businessmen Jon Asgeir Johannesson and Palmi Haraldsson are trying to buy Newcastle United has been unsettling to Newcastle fans, to say the least.

We have no idea why Ashley, after buying the club at a very reasonable price of ₤133M, would sell after only two months of ownership.

Well, that’s not exactly true because he could sell if a group came along and offered him a lot more than what he paid for Newcastle.

Bid to Buy Newcastle United In The Works?

Monday, August 20th, 2007 · 36 Comments

We have been getting several e-mails over the last 24 hours from one of our news sources in Iceland, about a potential bid for Newcastle United, and that Alan Shearer has recently been asked to participate in that bid.

Since that news has now been broken by Sky News in England we will use some of the information we have received from our source in Iceland, to let you know what we currently have on this situation.

We caution our readers that nothing has yet been officially confirmed, but we do have reason to believe a bid is in the works.

Major Newcastle News Stories – 20th August – 2007

Monday, August 20th, 2007 · 35 Comments

There is new news being reported on some of Newcastle’s transfer targets today.

We are again linked with Deco and Belletti of Barcelona and we think Sam will sign Juliano this week sometime, although news is leaking through that Barcelona rejected our first bid for the player.

It also looks like we’ll finally land Abdoulaye Faye from Bolton in the next day or two, as the player has turned down a new contract offer from Bolton that would have tripled his wages – presumably to join up again with the big man at Newcastle. There are certainly advantages in having a manager at the club that players want to play for.

Newcastle Fan Sibierski Scores Against Sunderland

Monday, August 20th, 2007 · 15 Comments

Antoine Sibierski, who was a real favorite at Newcastle last season when he scored 8 important goals for the club, is doing very well at Wigan Atletic.

Wigan have 6 points from their first 3 games and Antoine has scored 3 times already and is the early leader of the Premier League goalscoring charts, after scoring a penalty in Wigan’s 3-0 win over our arch rivals Sunderland on Saturday.

Big Sam Builds Solid Foundation First

Monday, August 20th, 2007 · 25 Comments

Sam Allardyce talked to the Journal this morning about Saturday’s performance and he insists that the first thing you need to do is build a solid foundation in defense.

Most good (great) teams start by becoming hard to beat by building up their defense and then have strikers who can score the goals and midfielders who can both defend and create the chances for the forwards.

Final Reflections on the Newcastle Villa Game

Monday, August 20th, 2007 · 14 Comments

There was a lot of dissatisfaction on Saturday when Newcastle could only take a point from a good Aston Villa side that we had expected to beat.

But the reaction from some fans we think has been a bit over the top.

This is a game that Sam suggested we would have lost last season – and he’s right.

Newcastle Linked with Barcelona’s Deco and Belletti

Monday, August 20th, 2007 · 29 Comments

There have been newspaper reports over the weekend linking Barcelona players Deco and Belletti to Newcastle.

Certainly after the dour and lack-luster performance from Newcastle on Saturday, against a good looking Aston Villa side, some creativity is needed in midfield and Deco would help in that area.
