Newcastle’s Likely Squad – Who Else Do We Need?

For this article we are going to assume that we have Joey Barton, Mark Viduka, David Rosehnal, Leighton Baines, Derek Boateng and Tal Ben Haim at the club.
Barton and Viduka have arrived and we are fairly confident we can get the remaining four players in – some imminently.
We will now look at the squad we have and ask the question – who else to we need?

Sam Speaks: Pre-Season and Poor Training Facilities at Newcastle

When Sam Allardyce arrived at Newcastle we were in the final stages of negotiating a place in the Amsterdam tournament to compete with Ajax, Lazio and Athletico Madrid – but at the last moment Arsenal were chosen as the fourth team – which did not please Big Sam.
Sam has again talked at length to Luke Edwards of the Journal on this, the training ground and pre-season preparation and we’ll take a look – as always – at the interesting things Sam had to say.

Newcastle Can Capture Freddie Ljungberg from Arsenal

There are reports circulating again that Newcastle may be after Freddie Ljungberg the Arsenal mid-field player. No way to know right now if there is truth to this but Freddie would be a good addition to the squad and provide some experience as an attacking midfielder at Newcastle.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is apparently ready to let his Swedish star leave the club on a free transfer.

Newcastle Transfer News on Viduka, Ben Haim and Rosehnal

Mark Viduka beat Joey Barton to it this afternoon and after passing his medical at St. James’ Park he signed on the dotted line for Newcastle.
The paper work is keeping Barton from being a Newcastle player but we also expect David Rosehnal and Ben Tal Haim to become Newcastle players within the next few days.

Allardyce Speaks at Length about Joey Barton

Sam Allardyce has talked at length about his first acquisition at Newcastle – Joey Barton. While Joey is a good player his past antics have put a big question mark over this signing.
We had so much trouble with players acting stupidly during the Bobby Robson era we certainly don’t want to see any more of that nonsense again.

Well – the really big news – and very good news for Newcastle is that Freddy Shepherd has agreed to sell his shares to Mike Ashley. Newcastle now have the chance to challenge the big four – and Sam Allardyce will have no money problems in the next few years – as he attempts to put Newcastle back on the football map.
