Allardyce Clarifies Owen’s Groin Injury

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007 · 3 Comments

Sam Allardyce has been questioned about Michael Owen’s latest pseudo injury to his groin, and the Newcastle manager has tried to clarify the position with Michael’s injury.

While the groin can be managed with exercises at the moment, that doesn’t mean that at some point during the season it doesn’t turn into a hernia problem that will need an operation to fix it.

Sam – Viduka and Owen Ready to Start Sunday

Friday, September 21st, 2007 · 22 Comments

Big Sam spoke today on some of our injuries, and said Sunday would be too early for Jose Enrique, but that he could well be involved at the Emirates stadium on Tuesday evening in the Carling Cup.

But it looks like Mark Viduka and Owen are both ready to go on Sunday – so that’s good.

Some of Sam’s Comments Are Not Helpful

Friday, September 21st, 2007 · 36 Comments

We’ve tried to stay away from the verbal battle between Big Sam and Rafa Benitez over Allardyce’s comments in Zoo Magazine earlier this week, which were not complimentary to Rafa.

Sam has a column in the magazine so we suppose he has to think of something to say for each issue. We wish he wouldn’t say some of the things he does – which seem to have nothing to do with him – but we’re going to take a look today at what Sam did say.

Newcastle vs West Ham PreView – Newcastle Win

Friday, September 21st, 2007 · 25 Comments

It’s an important game against West Ham on early Sunday afternoon at St. James’ Park. The KO is at 1:30 pm.

Important because the team needs to recover from the very disappointing display on Monday night, and get back on track in the league. Since we are not in Europe this season we have to take every league game seriously and get as many points as we can from each one.

That’s the best way to get back into Europe next season, where we belong.

Steve Harper Thinks Top 6 For Newcastle

Friday, September 21st, 2007 · 7 Comments

Newcastle keeper Steve Harper believes Sam Allardyce can guide the team to a European spot in his first season in charge.

But we know that over the years talk is cheap and the real talking has to be done on the field – especially after the debacle we witnessed on Monday night at Derby.

But let’s take a look at what Steve said yesterday, he’s at least positive and upbeat on our chances this season.

Injuries Still Big Problem at Newcastle

Friday, September 21st, 2007 · 11 Comments

Sam talked today about needing to get his full squad available.

At the moment we are again top of the PhysioRoom.Com Injury table with a full 10 injuries. When you see the next teams on this list are Arsenal. Chelsea, Manchester United and Sunderland with just 6 injuries you wonder what is going on at Newcastle still.

Certainly our injury record has not improved much this season so far.

Owen’s First Priority Must Be Newcastle, Not England

Thursday, September 20th, 2007 · 42 Comments

Whoever told Dudley Rogg, Director and Founder of the British Hernia Center, that anybody needed his opinion on if and when Michael Owen should have a hernia operation?

Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce has already made a statement that Michael Owen doesn’t need a hernia operation and  should be ready to play for Newcastle on Sunday against West Ham, in a crucial game for the club.

So what’s going on here?
