Championship Fixtures Announced – Geordie Fans Upbeat

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 · 77 Comments

It’s really strange but when the fixtures for the Championship were announced earlier today most Newcastle fans were buzzing and were even looking forward to trips to quaint places like Burton Albion.

It’s the Rafa effect, with fans convinced the Spanish manager will turn things around at Newcastle and get us straight back up next May and not only that, but we will then be able to challenge for a top six position in the Premier League.

One thing we shouldn’t forget is that it gives a chance for Newcastle supporters in England a chance to go and watch the lads play when they live in cities or towns with a Championship club – or close to one.

Rafa Benitez – at Liverpool with Newcastle – he’s the man!

Certainly it’s odd things are so upbeat on Tyneside after a relegation – but that’s the way it is.

Here are some typical tweets sent out following the fixtures, which see us play at Craven Cottage on Friday night – 5th August to kick off what we hope will be a very successful season down below.

Rafa Benitez Will Not Even Know Who I Am

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 · 16 Comments

There’s a really good, light-hearted and maybe even true statement from Bristol City manager Lee Johnson this morning,  after the Championship League fixtures were announced at 9:00 am today.

Newcastle kick off the season on Friday night, 5th August at Craven Cottager in a televised game – the very first game of the Championship season.

Lee Johnson admits he doesn’t think Rafa Benitez will even know who he is when we  travel to Bristol City in late August.

Rolando Aarons Upbeat And Confident About Newcastle

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 · 4 Comments

Over the last two summers 20 year-old Rolando Aarons has worked through the summer on getting fit for the upcoming season, but he’s had a real bad time of it with injuries and over the last two seasons appeared only 17 times with 3 goals for Newcastle.

Well it’s a case if plan A doesn’t work move to plan B and this summer Rolando – after putting in a great sub appearance against Tottenham,  when he scored one and made one in the last few minutes of the game – left immediately for a summer holiday.

Good for him.

Experienced Midfielder Wants To Leave Newcastle In Summer

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 · 15 Comments

We have wondered what Cheick Tiote’s future would be at Newcastle under Rafa Benitez, because Cheick became a starter once Rafa arrived at the club last March and Cheick was finally fit.

The Shields Gazette is reporting this morning that Tiote will leave Newcastle this summer, after his proposed move to the Chinese Premier League and Shanghai Shenhua fell through only last January.

The news is that Cheick wants to leave and find a new challenge and Rafa Benitez seems to be OK with that.
