The word we used for today’s performance by Newcastle – when they booed off the field after being completely dominated by Leicester City 3-0 was pitiful.
Alan Shearer decided to stick with woeful.
Alan Shearer – woeful
In any case, it was yet another utterly dreadful performance by Newcastle.
Other words Alan can use in the future in place of woeful include – pathetic, depressing, atrocious, disgraceful, deplorable and shameful.
They are all good descriptions of Newcastle’s shocking performance today.
It simply wasn’t good enough.

Here’s some video from NBCSN on today’s game when Leicester City easily beat Newcastle 3-0 and our defense again looked poor – but our whole team looked poor today.
We were as bad as we were two weeks ago, but unlike at Bournemouth Leicester City took some of the chances we gave them starting with a beautiful individual goal from Jamie Vardy just before half time to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in ten consecutive Premier League games.
It looks like Newcastle are in for a hard slog against relegation yet again this season and Steve McCalren will again come under pressure with only 10 points from our first 13 games.
That’s the worst start since 1898 when we also had 10 points from the first 13 league games.

It was a dreadful performance by Newcastle this afternoon at St. James’ Park when the Magpies were far too easily beaten by a sprightly Leicester City side who Newcastle simply couldn’t match for their speed and threat in the final third of the field.
You cannot accuse the Newcastle players of not trying, but we simply were not good enough and that’s three goals conceded at home which makes it a massive 25 goals conceded in the first 13 league games.
If we continue that average we’ll concede 73 goals this season – which would be our worst ever – and yet our defense has been known to be our Achilles heel for three years.
So who’s watching the shop at Newcastle?

The Newcastle team has just been announced the team for the important game today and as expected it’s unchanged from the side that won 1-0 at Bournemouth last time out.
Jamie Vardy has presumably passed his fitness test and he will start the game against Newcastle today and try to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in ten successive PL games.
It’s up to our defense to keep him from scoring and maybe get our third clean sheet on the trot.

We dare say there´s been a few long faces of Newcastle fans this year which has to be one of the worst years ever for Newcastle United – at least as far as the results go.
We had a poor end to last season when we lost nine of the last eleven games and we haven´t done very well this season with just two wins and six defeats in the first twelve games which have earned us just 10 points.
Steve McClaren – looks like he spotted a few long faces
