Newcastle Forward – It’s All A Learning Experience

Thursday, July 21st, 2016 · 10 Comments

Most Newcastle fans expected Newcastle to win against League Two side Doncaster Rovers last night at the Keepmoat Stadium, but the way it ended up we were a little lucky not to lose the game.

Newcastle were 2-0 down at half time after a poor first half performance, but things were much improved in the second half and 21 year-old newcomer Isaac Hayden scored his first goal for the club.

But it still took a 90th minute equalizer from our young Spanish U21 striker Ayoze Perez to prevent a defeat.

Newcastle’s Achilles Heel Unchanged From Last Four Seasons

Thursday, July 21st, 2016 · 20 Comments

Watching that first half performance last night from Newcastle at Doncaster was like “deja vu – all over again”  to quote a yogism from the former great Yankees catcher Yogi Berra.

It was like watching the last four years of Newcastle when the opposing team could score at any time and sometimes we simply would gift the opposition a goal.

The first goal after 19 minutes was exactly that – a gift – and an embarrassment for new goalkeeper Matz Sels.

In France, L’Equipe are reporting today that a meeting was held yesterday with representatives of both clubs  and  Juventus agreed in principle that they would be willing to sell Paul Pogba and it looks like some agreement has also been reached over the fee.

Newcastle Fans Twitter Reaction To Fee Agreed For Wijnaldum

Thursday, July 21st, 2016 · 30 Comments

Here is some of the reaction to the news this morning that Liverpool have agreed a £25M fee for Gini Wijnaldum with Newcastle.

The fans think it’s very good business, but we need a replacement brought in.

This is some of the collateral damage you get when the club is incompetent and gets relegated – Gini’s the type of player we will need next May if we get promoted.

Sky Sports – Newcastle Agree £25M Fee For Wijnaldum

Thursday, July 21st, 2016 · 14 Comments

The latest news this morning is that Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle have agreed a fee of around £25M with Liverpool for Wijnaldum, after talks are said to have gone on into the small hours of today between the clubs.

Newcastle played Wijnaldum last night for 11 minutes in the 2-2 draw at Doncaster and that could be the last time Gini plays for Newcastle, if the news this morning is accurate, which it appears to be.

It looks like it’s a straight cash deal and the structure of the payment – Newcastle want all £25M up front – is also worked out, with Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reporting Gini will travel to Liverpool today for his medical.
