The Evening Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle are after 22-year-old Paris St Germain left back Boukary Drame – who is regarded as one of the best young defenders in France.
However, both Sochaux and Nice are also in for the Senegalese international so there is competition for the youngster.
Let’s take a look at both the story and Drame the player.
Boukary Drame
United had apparently invited Drame to Newcastle this week, but apparently this alerted Sochaux, and it is now uncertain if Boukary will visit the club.
Drame is reported to be so good that France tried to get him registered to play for them, but they have been turned down by FIFA because Boukary had already played three games for Senegal. One thing in our favor is that Drame is a big pal of David Rozehnal as well as the two having played together at PSG last season – so that’s a positive for us.
We probably need to get David on his cell phone to start persuading young Drame to come to Newcastle.
Drame has been keen to play in England, and his agent Said Rubie said:
“Boukary did very well at PSG last year, but wants to test himself at the highest level possible and believes the Premier League is the place to be.”
“He has fantastic potential and his game is ideally suited to the demands of the Premier League.â€
This sounds to us like it would be a good signing – a young player who can only get better. He will however not have the experience Sam had wanted in the back four. Boukary as we mentioned is a big pal of our future star David Rozehnal while both were at PSG. We trust David knows Drame’s cell phone number and is in phase 3 of his talk to persuade the young Senegalese defender to come to Newcastle 😀
Here is some playing information on the youngster.
Drame was born on 22nd July, 1985 so he has only just turned 22 years old a week ago. He was born in Villepinte, France and joined PSG in 2001 when he was 15 years old. He has played 24 times for PSG with 20 of those appearances coming last season. He has also represented Senegal three times and stands 5’11” tall.
Comments very welcome.

Comment #4how come the only words to come out of BSA’s mouth are that hes looking for experienced prem defenders yet the press contsantly link us to young talaneted non-premier league players?
its a bit like BSA saying yesterday about the possible appointment of King Kev when he said to the press:
‘i know nothing about it, but if its true ill let my opinion be known in private’
and low and behold today, all the papers are saying BSA is dead against the idea of having King Kev meddle with his teams affairs, i wish the press would just start doing some real work for once.

Comment #7Ed – Think Drame would be a good signing – have you got a link to the source that says capaca has joined Al-Rayyan? Any mor on chellini (sorry about spelling)? If we could get these two left backs and a centre back we’d be pretty much there. I just can’t believe that Sam is being backed with the cash

At this moment i don’t care if Sam gets a one-footed midget as long as that one foot is the left one.

Comment #12There doesn’t seem to be any confirmation of Cacapa’s move to Al-Rayyan on any well-known web sites. It doesn’t even say anything on Al-Rayyan’s website, so we’ll wait and see tomorrow when his contract expires!

Comment #13Found this which is funny:
Newcastle United rumours
Squad in september –
GK–Given, Harper, Krul
RB–Carr, Beye (1.5 million)
CB–Taylor, Rozehnal, A faye (500 k), Curtis Davies (8 million), possibly Hangeland (2 million) Allardyce rejects talk he is following the player but is only saying this because he does not want other teams to bid for him
LB–Shorey (6 million + Huntington on loan), Babayaro
RM–Solano, Milner
CM–Barton, Emre, Butt, Nolan (6 million), possibly Deco (clubs are yet to agree a fee)
LM–Duff, N´Zogbia, Zheng Zhi (loan) needed for N´Zogbia back up until Duff returns from injury.
CF–Martins, Owen, Luque, Ameobi, and Viduka.
Carroll will go out on loan to either Hull or Stoke.

Comment #20For one he has all the qualities except from the EPL experience and the Bundesliga is probably the most similar league physically to the EPL. He is tall, strong, good at attacking, even better at defending and now starting to become a regular for the german international team. He may also be a fairly cheap option with potential as he is only 23.

Comment #21alan oliver who writes for the evening chronicle has just spoke on talk sport radio and he says that his understanding is newcastle have no money to spend at the minute and bsa has to sell before he buys which is sad if true but would explain the lack of activity in the market since ashley got the club lock stock comments like no left backs available baines was allowed to talk to scumberland he is a left back and possibly one of the hottest left backs in this country u21 what more could u want so im sorry but things are not gonna get much better for now

Comment #22I agree that Dame should be signed if not for the first XI then as a backup. What does concern me about him is that he has only played 24 times for PSG and 20 were last season – hardly the experience we want, but does seem a good prospect. Chiellini for the first XI then?

Comment #25Does Alan oliver think that we can get Dame on a free then as it was his column that said we were after him, the guy talks total garbage. Although I do not believe Sam is being backed with cash by the board I feel conned, frustrated and drained of a lot of the huge amount of optimisum i had a couple of weeks ago. Get your money out or get out, we’ve been ripped off enough

Comment #29I can’t take this anymore !!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn’t any of u guys know somebody at SJP ? janitor, casier , somebody ? 🙂
Sam needs some players in or someone needs to come forward and explain the situation this is madness.
I simply cannot explain the situation, if Ashley doesn’t have the money why in the blue hell did he buy Newcastle? It’s not like he’s some kid buying a chocolate bar, ” Hey i have 1 pound i’m gonna buy myself some chocolate to spend my money “. A football club has running cost and i cannot belive that Ashley had let’s say 150 000 000 pounds, bought the Toon and now he suddenly noticed he has no money anymore ? That’s insane.
Also i don’t believe the European Football thing. There are 1000000000 players in the world that won’t play in Europe, and Newcastle is a big club in England and should be more than capable to pay huge salaries to attract players. Money comes first.
I simply can’t comprehend what’s going on.

You said Alan Oliver has publicly stated we have no money, for one ive never given anything Alan Oliver says any credence and im not going to now.
I cant imagine a multi-billionaire taking over a club and then not supplying the money to better the current situation… hes made over 2bil in his life, i think he knows the old cliche you have to speculate to accumulate.
and lastly, if this were true i think BSA himself would be out spitting fire that he joined a club with promise of millions and didnt get a penny, it wouldnt just be sad little old Alan Oliver on his todd speaking absolute crap.

Mike Ashley is worth 1.928billion squidlies. Although he may be feeling fruggle this weather as apparently his sports direct stocks fell by 175million pound last week. That and the fact that Chris Mort might well have found glaring gaps in the accounts where FFS and the Halls emptyied the coffers before they left.
I find it easy to believe that there is much less to spend. MA probably budgeted for say 170mill (which would have left 47mill for transfers.) If FFS lied, and lets face it that’s highly probable, and debts were “more complicated” by 37mill then bang goes sams funds. Perhaps we’ll see some affordable youngsters from abroad but we won’t see the Sami Hypia like player we all wanted. Imagine we’d got Tal Ben Hiam. How much better would we feel? I am still optimistic though, even without signings i think sam’s coaching will see us bounce up the table.

I reckon because we have had a Big Takeover the papers REALLY want to know how much we have to spend, but All the board dont want that released as dont want to get mistaken for people who are going to WASTE money.
Sam has been told not to mention anything about money and players, but the right ones have not come up YET, but THEY WILL!!!!
So the SCUM of tabloid papers have made up a rubbish amount, in the HOPE that to ease the fans worries the board will then come out and say how much they are willing to spend.
SO STOP WORRYING EVERYONE!!!
The tabloid papers do it every year. NO ONE would BUY A BIG Club then not invest.
COME ON TELL ME YOU AGREE?????????/

Comment #34Well, the talk with Allardyce and Mort at Shearer’s bar tomorrow should be interseting. I’m going with a few mates and I’m sure Mort will be pressed about the lack of transfer activity and talk of ‘limited funds’. He and Ashley will not take us for fools. Wouldn’t it just be ironic if we were in better hands under Shepherd?

Comment #36Craig;
Get as much info as you can from the talk mate, this is driving me mad with lack of signings. But i do agree with some of the comments tha there is no way a Billionaire would take over the club if he wasnt going to invest in the team. Also we wouldnt have sent officials over to Barca to thrash out talks with Edmilson if we had no money .Just need some one to come out and tell us what is going on.!!!!!

Comment #39Ignore the ‘lack of money’ look who informed us about this, the newspaper ‘the people’ and there were no quotes saying this so dont believe it. The minimum we have to spend is 20 mil with the maximum being 80 mil (20 mil from beginning + 50mil invested by MA + 10 milfrom Fa for Owen’s injury).

Comment #40I’ll bring back as much information on the talk as possible, lads. According to my mate, Mort will be there, but it hasn’t been confirmed. Either way, Allardyce is enough, he’s an honest bloke and will answer most questions put forward. It starts at 6.30pm, so i’d guess it should be on for a good two hours or so.
