Faye and Beye Will Both Sign For Newcastle Today

Today is the last day of the transfer window and as far as Newcastle United are concerned they would hope to sign both Abdoulaye Faye from Bolton and Habib Beye of Marseilles.

It’s getting quite late now with less than 16 hours to go to the deadline but we already know Faye has passed his medical and was at the Carling Cup game against Barnsley so we would expect Faye to sign.

Things are a little less cut and dried with Beye, but we still expect him to be a Newcastle player by midnight tonight.

Habib Beye – expected to sign today from Marseilles

Sam did talk about Faye after the Barnsley game and said:

“Abdoulaye is in Newcastle for a medical and we expect that deal to go through in the next 24 hours,”

“Once that is done I hope to maybe add one more player before Friday night.”

It’s a little bit more mysterious about Habib Beye, but only because Newcastle refuse to say anything about the player – not a bad strategy in our eyes.

Habib Bye was quoted as saying yesterday:

“There has been contact between the two clubs. I have asked my boss to reply to this offer favorably.

“Discussions are taking place and I expect them to be favorably concluded.

“I expect the two clubs to come to an agreement soon and the transfer to become definitive…I leave with lots of fond memories but I need a new challenge.

“I wish Marseilles good luck. I have respected the jersey… What is important is that everything is concluded with Newcastle.”

“Another stage in my life is beginning. I believe that the offer has been accepted by the club.

“There are no non-football reasons behind the move. It is simply a career choice, a life-style choice.”

And with Marseilles President having already said that Newcastle were in for Habib and the deal was expected to go through.  Beye is thought to have flown in last night from France and reports yesterday that he had already passed a medical are not true. He is here to tie up the deal today and we can only hope that everything has been agreed apart from completing all the paper work. Beye will be another fantastic signing by Big Sam.

But there was almost complete silence yesterday from Newcastle on the transfer front so we’ll just have to wait. It could be that Newcastle want to get both players signed before announcing anything.  One thing that’s certain is that the acquisition of these two players will bring to 9 the number of players Sam has drafted into the club and over half of these are defenders. Our defense should be vastly improved almost immediately and the squad in general is very much better than last year.

We’ll await the official announcements and bring you anything that’s a real update on the situation throughout today.

Comments welcome.

My mate round the back of the pub heard from the guy who sold his brother a dog, that his mum was making tea for Tord Grip and heard them discussing the fact Baptista is going to join from Madrid.
    Actually that’s complete crap!

Morning all. Please note this is not a rumour but a fact that may interest a few. Joe Cole flew ‘north’ late last night leaving from the city airport in the big smoke. weird time of the year to be coming up our way! All my mate would say was that his destination was north of leeds n south of edinburgh. Could be nowt i guess but thought you all may want a heads up.

Whilst I do believe there will be a third signing, I do not believe J Cole will be it considering how many clubs would jump at the chance to get him. However, we should sum up the situation. Sam said he wanted another one or two, BEFORE Ramage got a long term injury. With carr and baba still sidelined, the only rightback we have is a player who doesnt want to be here. Personally lads, I think Solano WILL GO TODAY. And we will sign 2 rightbacks, Glen Johnston and Beye and Faye. This will conclude our activity.

I reckon Barton will be awesome, so much like Gerrard, just more character lol I still think we need some pace and skill, although i suppose Zogs got that and so does Duff when he gets back, I think we are pretty much sorted actuall 😀

Emre is creative but blows too hot and cold, imo, i’d say Barton is more of a box to box player but not really what i would class as creative, cant wait to see him playing tho!!!
One more creative MD would do me, even if it was just to get Emre more consistent….

Apparently Glen Johnson will sign for Portsmouth today for £3m, so thankfully that rules him out.

West Ham are reported to be monitoring the Joe Cole situation after his “disagreement” with The Special One. If he did fly north last night then maybe, just maybe BSA has used his persuasive powers yet again. Who knows? One thing that is for certain, all will be revealed come midnight tonight.

I’d be gobsmacked if we signed anyone other than Faye & Beye. The days of tying up a transfer in hours are long gone. Personally I think if we can get these two in by tonight our squad is looking pretty impressive.

Any one heard the rumours that we have signed Danny Szetela from Columbus Crew(MLS), he will be joining in January? He’s 20, is pretty good in Football Manager 2007 if that counts for any thing. He turned down a 4 year contract offer from Roma to sign for us instead?

Habib Beye and Faye will be quality signings but where are they? Hopefully they will be unvieled at Wigan along with an other big name that Ashley promised.

We are certainly not short for creativity with Duff, Milner, Nzogbia, Emre, Barton. Whilst we could get OTHER creative influences in the side, the only way to IMPROVE on what we have, is to get the likes of Deco, J Cole etc. They are bordering world class players, whom we would find either extremely difficult to get or out of budget. Think the squad we have now, with the latest additions is spot on. Its match winners NUFC need, as we are going for the Carling cup. And we have them in APLENTY here, more so than any other club I would say. Emre, Barton, Geremi, Smith, Martins, Owen, Viduka, Milner, Nzogbia are all capable of winning matches with important goals, and we have a defence which clearly has many goals amongst them also. For me, this squad is more than able to get us where we need to be. Liverpool were rejuvinated several years back when they won 5 trophies over a year. This year, lets win the carling cup. Next year, we should go all out to get the Uefa cup and Fa cup, and potentially defend the carling cup if we can win it this year, we would also get the opportunity to win the charity shield and euro super cup. Premiership is a too big a task in the near future. But the champions league is a victory in itself.

On another more realistically optomistic note, Platini has said he will push through his plan to open up the champions league to the winners of the FA cup from this season, BSA is a smart large cookie and could well be using this as bait to lure top players. Just imagine, Blyth Spartans top of the world!

JP – I belive the correct pronuciation is Casapa as the middle C has a cedilla below it which makes it a S sound ( in spanish anyway).

No one is going to get Hangeland, thats what the chairman of FCK has said in a interview today. It makes sense too, because they have a thin squad already, espcially in the defence, and the are to play in the UEFA cup this season.

Joe Cole? I was wondering when Chelsea were going to sell us a ridiculously good player at a knockdown price? He’ll cost a fortune though. Not that great that Chelsea don’t consider us rivals if they’re going to sell us JC. Such a pity that this is complete crap, would have been nice.

Just the latest in a line of players we’ve been “linked” with. Here are my favourite 10 over the summer:
    1. Sami Hypia – He was never going to leave the pool, but would have been amazing at the back.
    2. Gabrielle Heinze – We tried failed and went with an unknown Spainard instead. Heinze went to Madrid under Schuster, so he is faced with the same prospect.
    3. Edmilson – World cup winner barely kicked a ball for 3 years. Still… better than T%tf$*k Bumballs. Might still happen alledgedly.
    4. Ronaldinhio & Raul – seriously, did anyone believe?
    5. Tal Ben Hiam, Julien Beletti & Steve Sidwell – All three opted to sit on Chelski’s bench rather than turn out every week in front of the Gallowgate. Will any of them manage the 10 appearences to get a winner’s medal?
    6. Sol Campbell – Touted until the takeover. Out of contract next year. But ‘Arry the Geezer managed to hold on to the mentalist at the back.
    7. Hardly any right backs! – Which goes to show how few good fullbacks there are nowadays, considering we were stuck with Steven Carr and the centre of the U16’s defence.
    8. Joe Cole – I know it’s just on here and obviously fake, but he’s probably the best footballer Engerland have, and I love to watch the tricky disco.
    9. Nasri, Payet & Appiah – Young and overhyped. Everybody wants to be the one who discovers the next Christiano Ronaldo. Blogs are filled with these names, none of which do we actually know that much about. You’re mate might watch the Bundesliga division 2 cos it’s so similar to the EPL, swear blind that the new Zidane is there, but frankly we don’t really believe you. Why? Cos Sam doesn’t, and that is good enough for us.
    10. Deco – The one Galactico who might actually have come in as Michael Ashley’s statement of intent. He’s too old, not quick and strong enough and wouldn’t get enough time in the English game. But we all want hin in Black n White. Don’t listen to those who say they dont. They probably deny masturbating.
