Newcastle now have seven of their players ranked in the top 100 by Actim following this week.
Four of these players from Newcastle are new to the top 100 – Nicky Butt, Oba Martins, Michael Owen and Claudio Cacapa.
Newcastle players who have been in the top 100 and are no longer in include David Rozehnal, Steve Harper and Steven Taylor.
Claudio Cacapa – former Lyon captain enters the Premiership Top 100 in 89th position
James Milner has jumped right up to 23rd position but Charles N’Zogbia is still the top ranked Newcastle player and the only Magpie ranked in the top 10 as he holds 7th position. Charles is also the only Newcastle player to be ranked in the top 5 for each position category. Charles is ranked 4th in the midfield category.
The categories tracked are
Top 10 overall
Top 5 goalkeepers
Top 5 defenders
Top 5 midfielders
Top 5 strikers
The top 10 players in the rankings with their clubs and Actim score are as follows:
1 F Fabregas Arsenal 223 2 B Mwaruwari Portsmouth 214 3 B Elano Man City 211 4 R Ferdinand Man Utd 190 5 M Petrov Man City 174 6 E Adebayor Arsenal 169 7 C N'Zogbia Newcastle 156 8 R Van Persie Arsenal 154 9 G Clichy Arsenal 154 10 J Utaka Portsmouth 152
It’s noticeable that Arsenal, who are top oif the league have 4 players in the top 10. The Portsmouth striker Mwaruwari and Manchester City Brazilian midfielder Elano have gained quite a bit on leader Fabregas of Arsenal since we last published the ratings.
We will follow the Actim rankings periodically during the season becasue we know Big Sam looks at these and husges players by them. Once Joey Barton starts to play regualryl in the side we certainly expect him to finish quite high up in the rankings.
The players ranked from Newcastle are as follows
Name Actim Score Actim Rank Charles N'Zogbia 156 7 James Milner 136 23 Geremi 106 64 Nicky Butt 104 67 Oba Martins 94 88 Claudio Cacapa 94 89 Michael Owen 89 98
We publish the Actim Ratings for Newcastle players as part of our STATS – which you can get to at the top of the Newcastle United Blog site. Everything is right up to date for the season so far.

Comment #1Interesting that Geremi and Milner are our 2nd and 3rd top ranked players as people have been saying they havent been playing well so far this season where as Zog has been and Milner is only 20 points behind him!

Comment #4closer to 600 players if you take 30 players per side 20 sides, andsome teams have a lot more than 30, i know not all will play all the time cos of rotation (rafa) but weve never had so many players in top 100 and deffinately never had any defenders in there!!!!
howay the lads , win away at reading tomorrow for smiths and obas birthday on sunday!!!

Comment #5@gordon, although i to some extent can agree that these stats doesn’t tell you “the truth” i think you have miscalculated the number of players in the PL.
I would say: 20 teams * 22ish first team players (minimum) = 440ish PL players (and that ought to be a weeeeee bit more than “just above 2oo players”, right?)
