Former Newcastle United left winger David Ginola says that unfinished business could encourage Kevin Keegan to return to Newcastle United.
David Ginola – supports Keegan return to Newcastle United
Frenchman Ginola, who played for the Tyneside club from 1995-97, supported Keegan when asked about a potential return for Kevin to the Magpies.
Ginola told BBC5 Live this afternoon:
“Why not?” “When I was there, we didn’t achieve what we expected at the time.”
That was the famous 1995-1996 season, when Newcastle had a 12-point lead at Christmas, in the Premier League, but Manchester United still won the title after Newcastle collapsed in too many games on the run-in.
Ginola, who is now 40, continued:
“Kevin Keegan was the main reason I signed for the club. He really brought something special in terms of spirit,”
“He really was the man for the job, especially at Newcastle.â€
“I learned a lot about how to respect everybody at the club and I am sure this is why he was so loved and appreciated.”
Kevin is currently running his Soccer Circus in Glasgow and has been linked with a return to management at Newcastle. In fact, this afternoon he was installed as the new favorite in the betting at 6-4 by William Hill’s to take on the management job at Newcastle.
Owner Mike Ashley returns from conducting some business in the Pacific Rim tomorrow, so something new may come out tomorrow.
The sooner Newcastle get a good new manager in, the sooner we can start climbing that league table again, and the quicker the better – on both fronts.
Sunderland are getting a little too close to us right now. 🙁

Comment #5lets get one thing straight people. Sunderland(nil) are not, have not and never will be a threat to Newcastle United. they are the joke from up the road that lights up our Saturday night after another trouncing from some no-mark team from Division 1. They merely serve to remind us of where mediocrity lives and what it looks like. Fear not, keep the faith, and start believing all over again. No-one could do a worse job than Sounness and fat Sam. The future is bright. In fact it is going to be a hoot. Howway the lads!

Comment #6Despite my 40-1 wager on Keegan last week I don’t feel it is right to go back to the past. We need to look to the future – Quique Flores

Comment #35Why do so many of you keep on harking back to the past? I hope Keegan does not come. Look at how he walked out of jobs when the going got rough !!! We need a manager who is currently up to speed with the modern game. It has changed a lot since K’s Newcastle days. Too much sentiment not enough feet on the ground.

Comment #38Once a good manager, always a good manager.
It wont take long to get up to speed on the modern game. If he is appointed soon, then the rest of the season to get up to speed.

Comment #39Quique Flores for Newcastle. Best young manager available. Could be in place for Weds game if Ashley moved quick.
We should stop being romantic about the team and dreaming of yesteryear. We need to be clever. We need to get someone in who we can build a future with.
