Here are the latest odds on who is being backed with real money to become the next Newcastle manager. This is from William Hill’s and is the latest betting taken right from their web page.
Mike Ashley – we think he will make choice within 48 hours
Here’s the latest betting on the Newcastle manager:
Kevin Keegan 6/4
In the last 24 hours Kevin Keegan has come on strong after saying he would neither rule himself out or rule himself in. But he hasn’t turned down the opportunity flat, which is good for most Geordie fans. He has now been installed as the favorite overtaking Mark Hughes.
Mark Hughes 5/2
Wouldn’t be a popular or exciting choice for Newcastle fans, but he’s looked a solid and good manager at Blackburn and Wales, and will only get better with more experience.
Alan Shearer 4/1
Apparently Chris Mort called Alan on his vacation in Barbados last Thursday just to let him know the situation and he said they weren’t thinking of Alan at this time. However, he may be willing to link up with King Kev initially at St. James’ Park so he learn the ropes a little – say for a couple of years. Would Bobby Robson be able to act as Shearer’s mentor if Alan took the job himself?
Gerard Houllier 7/1
We think Gerard is definitely the dark horse. He has a good record at both Liverpool and Lyon, and he could do a job at Newcastle. Watch out for Gerrard because he could come through and be the surprise choice. We think he would be a good choice at this time.
Steve Bruce and Martin Jol are joint in 5th place at 10-1. Harry Redknapp is next at 12-1 and Jose Mouinho has been cut to 16-1 in 8th place.
Mike Ashley returns from the Pacific Rim tomorrow and he could be able to arrive back in Newcastle late tomorrow morning. There would be plenty of time to meet with whomever is his choice for new manager. So we’re sure the press will be trying to find out where the candidates are situated tomorrow.
We expect a new manager between now and the start of the game against Stoke City on Wednesday evening. That’s the latest we have on the manger front, with definite movement by Kevin Keegan.

Comment #161Hay craig chisholm – Have you got the link to the article..
Just watching Sky Sports News and Setanta sports – Fed up of TV Pundits saying who should and shouldn’t be considered – what’s it got to do with them, its our club – don’t even start me on those fans who don’t even support NUFC from the south or what I refer to as the anal region..

If it takes until the end of the season to find the right Man for the job then so be it.
I’m very happy that they want to talk to a lot of people bfore offering one of them the job.
This is a very important appointment to make and I’m sick of the quick appointments of the past that just couldn’t deliver the goods.

Comment #174Sparky’s our boy. I’m suprised at 3% vote. He plays on the ground, good tactician and man manager. Overachieveing at Blackburn with no money.
If we don’t get him we’ll regret it, I can feel it in me water
