Turkish Reports Say Fenerbahce To Sign Emre

There is breaking news in Turkey that top club Fenerbahce have agreed terms with Newcastle for Turkish midfielder Emre.

emre-095.jpg

Emre – reports that Newcastle have agree fee with Fenerbahce?

The Turkish club are hoping to build up on their current squad, and are reported to have agreed terms with Newcastle’s Emre Belozoglu, and with his club Newcastle United.

The Turkish International’s agent Ahmet Bulut has verified the report to be true.

It appears the total cost of the transfer will be about 7M euros to be paid to Newcastle and 3.5M euros per year to Emre.

This is about £5.5M in transfer costs, which is more than the £3.8M Newcastle are reported to have paid Inter Milan for the midfielder in July, 2005.

We do find it hard to believe that Emre will be getting about £2.8M/year at the Turkish club, that sounds unreal. Maybe that amount is over the length of the contract, but we have no idea what the contract length is.

At that time Emre signed a 5 year contract with the club when Graeme Souness was then the manager at the Tyneside club. That contract still has two years to run.

It is also being reported that Fenerbahce’s Chairman, Aziz Yildirim, will announce this transfer during his broadcast on FBTV on June 2nd, which is this Monday.

But we are rather dubious about this report, since there were reports about Emre leaving Newcastle last November.

They came out of Turkey, when Emre was himself playing there for Turkey in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, and all kinds of quotes were being attributed to various officials. and even to Emre himself.

And those reports turned out to be made up nonsense, as we learned later, even though they were widely reported.

They even had Emre saying he wanted to leave Newcastle, and Emre later clarified the situation, by saying he said no such thing, and it was all made up in his homeland.

As far as we know Keegan and Newcastle do not want to sell Emre, and Keegan has said more than once that he sees Emre in Newcastle’s future.

The reports also suggest the signing will not take place until after the Euro 2008 Championships, which to us sounds a little dubious and strange.

Add to that the reports that the Galatasaray club’s board are trying to prevent this deal from going through, and it looks like somebody is playing a joke.

These reports are coming from Turkey, but once bitten twice shy, and if we were pushed we’d have to say we think these reports were made up nonsense.

We want to be signing new players in the summer, and not selling the good players we already have.

But we’ll see – at least the reports are definitely being aired in the Turkish press, we know that.

Comments welcome.

well, at least one positive can be carried out from Emre’s transfer.
It seems that our board playing with their card closed to the chest during all negotiations processes.
look at the Emre thing – nobody heard a word about it, and that was about 3-4 hours between the first rumour appeared and the deal was actually done (as it seems from the news from Fener’s official web-site).
Hope this is the case for all transfer talks between Newcastle and other clubs.

David Luiz sounds great from what Tom_Toon is saying. With a bit of coaching and experience he may conceed far fewer fouls and become a near perfect defender to partner a big physical defender.

We really should get Tom_Toon onto the scouting staff, to at least direct attention to certain players who many of us haven’t heard of.

    Arshavin anyone?
Van der Vart is said to be injure prone.
    Diego – may be unrealistic.
Who else we were linked with?
Moutinho? not sure – when I saw he hadn’t impressed me.
    NZogbia?

get a grip gooderz will you, i think ppl with inside knowledge of football who travel around the world watchin players know a bit more than some kid on here who obviously just drops players names to try and make it look as though he knows everything about football, tom toon changes his mind every other day as to who are class players tht we shud sign, he keeps talkin about this luiz kid last few days as our new cb where as last week it was bruno alves who we shud buy, he talks out his arse mate and ppl like you take it as gospel

van der Vaart is also very unrealistic.

    Moutinho wont suit the prem.

There isnt too many reall good AMs we could get.

Id certainly try for Kahlenberg for about 5 mil if we cant get Arshavin.

Carlos Martins, Tiago (not such a playmaker but a good CM), Kallstrom (same as Tiago).

pfff ot does seem like he’s gone….shame really, i liked him, always thought he’ll come good. a very strange transfer indeed, on Newcastle’s part and on Emre’s part too. i have to say i am very disappointed.

i can’t help it but i have that feeling again, like i had when the Fat One started gettin’ those “just a blip” results, i sense a dark summer coming, we will offload many players and i genuinely can’t see any betters players coming in…….

ur national team makes no diffrence, uv never seen him play in the prem so u cant judge, nobody can until hes actually played in prem, watchin him in another league proves nothing about how well he’d adapt or even change his game 2 suit the prem

Watch him in the uefa cup or cl against premier league teams, hes absolutely lost. He’d be immense in la liga but he hasnt got the pace, strength or fight to be in the prem.

marat i was thinking the other day about the whole arshavin thing, the fact is he stated that he would be interested in coming to newcastle, this was in january, during a time which we were possible relegation fodder… who says we wont be able to get him now

Leo, the thing is – are we really interested?
Arshavin stated he would come, Arda stated he would come.
the ball is on Newcastle ground now. We’ll see.

I just hope that we will not sign some James Harper from relegated team for replacement

canny gutted about emre, i was a big fan of him, thought he’d stick with us through the second era cos he seemed pretty passionate about us.
but, it looks like its happened.
Galatasaray fans will be happy to see him kicking about in a fener shirt before the deals even gone through im sure.

Well from England but half portuguese.

Hes pretty good against the lesser team i.e. setubal etc. But still not spectacular, hes steady against the better teams, when he first joined he was pretty good but he seems to have faded out a bit, but sporting didnt have the best of seasons, till the end at least where he has come back into it again. Hes not a standout performer in sporting but their fans think he is good, i think he is decent, shown some flashes though.

i mean how can we attract good players if we didnt spend nor paid high wages ??

Emre is a Gala legend surely? So to sign for Fenerbache would be the equivalent of Lee Clark signing for Scumderland….but 100 times worse…..utter bollocks

2 center mids needed for sure then… but kk wouldnt have let him go if he didnt have a plan…
emre showed flashes of genuis ( free kick against the scum, great goal against everton this season) but he is very injury prone and lacks consistancy and is very replaceable……..
doubt he’d leave london but what do you guys think about mark noble maybe?

Hey guys, I’m Nathan and I run http://www.fenerbahceworldwide.org – we’re the English-language website for Fener fans. I have spoken with some sources at the club and I’ve been told that it is not 100% official yet, but from what I understand, it’s about 90% complete. My understanding is that Emre will have the final say but that Fener and Newcastle have in fact agreed on a transfer fee.

Thanks for stopping by our site. I’ll continue posting the most up-to-date news on the situation as I hear it.

He said he wanted to play with Emre in the premiership, now he has no incentive to come to our club when Everton want him and possibly Spurs, both offering european football.
