There has been lots of news in the papers recently suggesting that Everton are the latest club who are keen on our winger James Milner.
James Milner – going nowhere in the summer
Other clubs interested in the 22 year-old are said to be Liverpool and Middlesbrough, and you can add in Martin O’Neil of Aston Villa, who would take the player in a heartbeat.
But when did we say we were going to let James move on from Newcastle?
Our squad is very small to start with, and the last thing we want to do is to start losing some of the good players we already have.
The idea is to improve the squad by bringing in new and better players than we have allowed to leave the club.
The 4-5 players Kevin keeps mentioning he needs is predicated on nobody leaving the club, and if anybody from now on leaves the club, with the possible exception of Ameobi and Rozehnal, they will need to be replaced.
It would also not go over well with Newcastle fans if we see good players leaving the club in the summer.
James has appeared 141 times for Newcastle, with 100 starts and 11 goals.
The direction in the summer is meant to be into the club, not away from the club.

Comment #3Thats what i thought for Emre aswell,we definetelly dont know how to sell a good player of Emre’s calibar.
After Euro’s Emre’s price will be 3 times bigger and the whole world knows that Fener has a lot of cash available, why are we letting him so cheap there. If Emre was playing for example in Lyon , despite all his injuries he had this season,Aulas wouldnt let him go under 10 mill pounds if the offer came from Fenerbahce.

Comment #4emre has done nothing to justify a price of £10m

Comment #7Chris F I agree, could someone just tell us how many matches he has played over the last 2 seasons where we are paying £4 million a year to him in salary.

Comment #8A lot of teams are just fishing, they are speculative casts, nothing more.

Comment #9we coudlnt possibly expect to get anywhere near 10mil for sumone we only paid 3.8mil for and he has went down hil drastically since he got here, his price should have dropped really based on his performance since coming here, so if we are gettin the 5.5mil reported then weve done well to make a profit on him

Comment #12i like the points about emre but this is the wrong article… like especially the point about the fact we are letting him go before euro’s where his value would rise.
anyway i really hope milner doenst go because he is worth his wages. barely injured always puts effort in and goes forward and tracks back also, model pro

Comment #16we are saying we need someone who can take a good free kick – that’s Emre. he would also get more games with us now due to Barton being away for the short term future – I think we still need a firing on all cylinders Emre who can stay injury free – he would thenbe a great asset to ther team – he will have a good Euro 2008 tournament – maybe then Kev may think twice

Comment #17sell him! He can’t provide an accurate cross, and those little step overs he does do nothing because he still doesn’t go past his man.
James Milners Stats for this season are 33 games played, 3 goals, 2 assists
I say SELL HIM for all we can get!
