Kinnear Also Looking In Championship For Players

Joe Kinnear has again talked to Mike Ashley to discuss which players he is allowed to bid for next month.

John Joe O’Toole – 20 year old Watford central midfielder

Wolves star Michael Kightly and Watford’s John Joe O’Toole are two players that have been scouted by Dennis Wise this season.

Kinnear talked to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:

“I have spoken to him (Ashley) about various areas where I want improve.”

“We’ll wait and see.”“We need to strengthen the whole squad, there will be a cap.”

“I may have go into the Championship and buy there, I always have done.”

Well there are some good players in the championship, there’s no doubt about that, and one good player we have linked with is Irishman Joe John O’Toole of Watford.

He’s 20 years old, stands 6’2″ tall and is a central midfielder who has already played 55 times for Watford with 10 goals. He may be a good buy if could get him to the club, although we have no idea how much he would cost.

And speaking on the reference from Ashley this morning that Joe was his hero and better than England manager Fabio Capello,  Joe joked:

“I already knew that!”“I saw the article and was surprised in many ways it makes a change from the normal ones, it is Christmas.”

Well it was upbeat, as most of this week has been, and that’s becasue we got our first win in 6 games last Sunday, and it was a terrific display form the lads.

Now we need to keep up the good form and not have any let down, whatsoever against Spurs on Sunday afternoon. A win will send Newcastle fans off to a Very Merry Xmas indeed.

Comments welcome.

Neeraj…..In my book ”Big signing” means overrated, overhyped, overpayed bunch of Primadonas.

Take a close look at Hoffenheim…..tell me just 1 big signing they made during the Summer,NONE.
But that wont stop them to fight till the very end, those guys are putting their lives on the line for the club and their highest earner earns less than one of our lowest earners in our first team N’Zogbia.

I just read that Madrid will sign Ronaldo,Aguero,Diarra……..i could never ever support team like that, its ridiculous.

I don’t care if we buy from timbucktoo lge as long as they are sensible buys, hard working players that understand the pride in wearing the Toon shirt.

    Agree G,
last thing we want is to start getting our hopes up for big stars..those days are gone for now.

I have every faith in the club recruiting sensible buys and possibly some undiscovered euro talent no doubt they are working hard behind the scenes to get the right players in.

The dust seems to be settling at long last and an air of stability is coming out of the club at last I just hope we beat spurs as the boost it will give us and the players will be immense.

some cracking players in the championship but as someone said earlier a lot of them play for promotion chasing teams and would likely cost big money

    stephen hunt

shelvey of charlton is a class talent, seen him a few times and i know how highly the charlton fans rate him. he’s one we could definitely nab as charlton are really struggling and 3-4m would go a long way for them

Lallana, Ledley, Naughton, Beevers and O’Toole are some not necessarily in promotion certs.

    @ tom_toon

i didnt say they are all promotion certs, i said a lot of them are. ledley is a good player, heard good reports about naughton, and southampton have a lot of good young players so lallana could be worth a look. o’toole hasnt looked any good when i’ve seen him though, and that beevers is similar to what we’ve already got – young defender with potential but i think we need an older head at the back to cover for injuries etc

All this talk about O’toole. He is not even in ireland squad and is already 20 and ireland are letting ne1 into the team at the mo.I say poach leeds, nottingham forest, ipswich and southampton they have always had great youth acadamy.

O’Toole is one for the future. His goal scoring record isn’t bad either. Roughly a goal every 5 matches. Not bad for a 20 year old.

Think we should buy modric and put Ass’ole on the back and stick him in the reserves.

AO just out of curiosity why do you bother coming on here…I have a list of possible answers for you to choose from:

    1 you are lonely
    2 retarded
3 think you are slightly interesting
    4 deluded
    5 Ass’ole
    6 Dork
    7 Sad
    8 lonely
    9 Depressed
    10 Have no mates

Tick and send back for the Toon Boys enjoyment.

On the matter of buying from the Championship, I’m all for it. I’m tired of being linked to unknown foreigners.

It’s nice to be linked with young, up and coming talent from the British isles!

I’ve said before on here that I tend to watch more championship than PL footy these days. Perhaps I’m just scouting next years opposition? 🙂
Anyway O’Toole isn’t all that. Good back up nothing less.
Don’t bother list the Wolves players. They are all players I’ve championed again and again, but they will stay with Wolves unless they don’t get promoted.

I’ve no worry about dipping into the lower divisions or picking up snips from abroad. There have been some gems uncovered and and could nicely fit into the ‘one for the future’ category.

But, there is a need to balance that with the need for top-flight experience and I’m sure that Joe, along with (dare I say it) Wise, will do a decent job this window……. say I while touching wood and with fingers crossed!

Doyle is good but i think S Hunt is poor anytime he plays for Ireland he spends more time kicking his opponents shins than he does kicking the ball. Owen Garvan is a great prospect and he wouldn’t cost much either.

The Irish don’t like it though, but then the Irish are a bit obsessed with the British. I guess there isn’t much to do in Ireland except farm and build bombs.
