Ryan Taylor Through The Door At Newcastle?

Ryan Taylor presumably has signed for Newcastle United in what is said to be around a £1.5M deal from Wigan Athletic, but we still don’t know if the signing is official.

Ryan Taylor – versatile and good player

Taylor, who started out as a right back at Tranmere Rovers, has been playing on the left wing for Wigan recently.

But of course the player is also comfortable at left-back and on the right side of midfield, so he can be played in lots of different positions at Newcastle.

Certainly Joe needs to plus the defense, and he could be played at right- back while Habib Beye is out injured.

We just have to plug the defense, which certainly needs to improve if we are top avoid relegation.

And Kinnear believes Ryan will quickly establish himself as an invaluable part of the Newcastle squad, and the sooner the better as far as we are concerned.

Ryan also has a long throw-in so that aimed at 6’4″ Andrew Carroll will be very interesting to watch in future games.

Kinnear told the Shields Gazette today:

“Ryan’s very versatile, and that’s the reasoning why I went for him,”

“He’s got a long throw, and I’m aware of that, and he’s also excellent at set plays.”

“He scores goals from dead ball situations. Ryan can play wide left, left back, right back and wide right.”

“If we have injuries in those areas, the boy’s capable of doing exceptionally well. I still think we haven’t seen the best of him.”

“He played for England’s Under-21s, and I think there’s more to come from him.”

We don’t know if Ryan will be able to play tomorrow against Sunderland, and there’s nothing yet on the Newcastle official site to say the signing is official.

There’s little doubt that Newcastle have secured a couple of excellent players in Taylor and Nolan, for a little over £5M, but we still don’t have enough players through the door in January, especially with Given and N’Zogbia likely to leave, and bring in good money to the club.

Surely there are still more players to come through the door before Monday afternoon at 5:00 pm.

We’ll be worried if there aren’t more players still to come in.

Comments welcome.

Presuming his injuy problems don’t start up again (which is typical Newcastle) and he actually has definitely signed, then we have well and truly bent Wigan over. He’s an excellent, really underrated player, not just for his set plays but also for his overall contribution. If he can keep himself fit that is two potentially brilliant signings from Kinnear/Ashley/whoever and I must congratulate them for that.

Still want the earth to swallow them up though and we still NEED more players otherwise we’re just as bad off as before. Another CM please now Guthrie’s out for ages as well, I don’t want Butt starting every week he just can’t hack that anymore – hacks players instead because he’s too slow.

We don’t think Newcastle will make much of an attempt to keep Michael Owen at the club, and they will bring in another striker in the summer to partner Martins EDdo you honestly beleive martins will still be here next season

what a difference 24 hours can make , yesterday morning when i woke up i was sure we would be going down , now with these 2 signings my belief is returning that we will save ourselves . If Given does sign for City then i hope a couple of thier players come this way as part of the deal . Sturridge & Dunne would do me . Then a swoop for Veolso & Saviola on loan

Nolan and Taylor are excellent buys as there combined costs are less then that for Nzogbia.
Taylor’s adaptability will prove to be very useful.
We need to invest the money from Given’s sale and I hope they are proven British players with experience who know how to be team players.

I’m hoping Martins is back to partner Carroll tomorrow 🙂

And I also think that we still need some more players, but whoever said Richards is surely dreaming? The best we can expect from City for Given is surely Dunne or Onouha? Which would be a welcome transfer.

if we could also get Dan Fox in from Coventry for 3m then our back line could have been improved in all ideas (Albeit some may be backup) for less than we receive for Given and Zog!

Veloso on loan is also a dream as they’re looking to sell him for 12m+ I heard today. Saviola joining on loan is a good shout, but talk of that happening has died down recently.

Chronicle reporting that he (taylor) is having medical today, charlie is likewise in wigan, but taylor will not eligible to play against mackems as registration for prem league not in time. Things though are looking up, joking ear says maybe one more signing by Monday deadline. Also ashley expected to be at st james tomorrow, lets get behind team and put differences to one side and see how things develop.

Fox is possibly the best left back outside the Premiership, Marco, and very highly rated by his manager and fans.

Can’t be worse than Enrique and 3m isn’t too much cash to stump up.

No, Taylor is a very underrated performer. He has been top quality whenever I have seen him for Wigan (and that’s not just when he’s scored blinders against the Toon) and he will add strength in depth to our right hand side for the future, as his set pieces rival Beckham’s for delivery.

Just get him signed definitely for God’s sake, I’ve seen them fall through when we’ve thought we had them before and I don’t intend on going through that again any time soon.

Is Kevin Nolan registered to be able to play tomorrow?

Tyne Talk Match Preview states: Joe Kinnear will be keeping his fingers crossed that new signing Kevin Nolan will be available to bolster the midfield, however he may have wait before debuting the former Bolton player as the transfer is yet to be fully completed. Anyone sure? Please tell.
