Damien Duff is attracting attention in the transfer market, and it appears that Burnley are the latest Premier side showing interest in the Irish winger (or full-back).
Damien Duff – attracting interest in transfer market
Duff said he would want to stay at the club, immediately following relegation but since then Ashley has put the club in jail, and nothing has been done.
And amazingly the Tyneside club has been without a manager since May 24th, the day the club was relegated.
But Duff said in the aftermath of relegation. following the Aston Villa terminal defeat:
“I’m as loyal as they come, whether the gaffer stays or goes.” “I’d love to try to get us back up.”
“I’ve loved working with him (Shearer).” “It’s been a proper football club for eight weeks, and it’s about time.”
“It’s just disappointing that we couldn’t stay up for him and the fans.” “I think he’s been brilliant, even though we haven’t got the results to keep us up.”
“It’s the first time in a long while that this place has felt like a proper football club.”
“Things are done right, and it’s been a breath of fresh air. If there’s one man to get us back up, it’s him.”
And of course Giovanni Trapattoni, Ireland’s 70 year-old manager, has said players remain great wherever they play, and he classed Duff as a great player.
So if he stays at Newcastle United, Damien will have little danger of losing his position in the Irish team, that’s for sure.
We’d like to see Duff stay on Tyneside.
Comments welcome.

Comment #43transfer window isnt officially open but the deal can be complete now, it just means the registration of the player to the new club won’t become officialy until july 1st, which makes no difference anway cos the ther is no training or matches until july anyway, so you may aswell class the window as open

Comment #44batty- he was a revelation when shearer came in and played him at LB, and we could see him back to his blackburn/early chelsea form in the CCC

Comment #46cheers batty funny enough I liked batty he reminds me of barton only barton is fitted with a self destruct button. Nick 69 I agree with you about duff but I think i said to you b4 that the players cant win they want to stay they are greedy bstarts and are only here for the £££s. if they want to go because they dont like being in the soap opera, then they are not loyal and dont give a flyin fig

Comment #51Toon_Factor The world is divided into two kinds of people: those who have tattoos, and those who have pre concieved ideas of people with tattoos.

Comment #54Sell him on, paying £70k a week in CCC for Duff would be madness. I’d drive him down A1 if somebody pays 3-4m for him.

This is genuine before everyone starts badgering me!
Big Fraser Forster was on a plane to London today on the same flight as my mate who was on his way to Canada (via Heathrow). Word is he could be on his way to Spurs!
Seems to have good potential and wants out of this bombsite, nothing concrete yet, just thought id post!
Cheers!
Keep the faith!

Comment #58Big Dave, I always wondered that about Batty mesel mate, but never bothered to ask – now I know!
Murray mints, Murray mints – too good to hurry mints.
…and you forgot ‘or piercings’ on yer tattoo quote Dave.
Toon_Factor, ye snob. I could think of far “more revolting” things to insert under my skin anyway.
…like woodlice, or dog vomit for example.

Comment #59Rod your right mate ( The world is divided into two kinds of people: those who have tattoos and piercings, and those who have pre concieved ideas of people with tattoos or piercings.) I have a few piercings myself and I must say attitudes are changing.

Comment #60Dave, I used to have hair down to mi ass in mi mid twenties anarl – I was totally gobsmacked at how differently people treated me going from pony tail to skinhead. As much as we’d like not to, we’ll ALWAYS judge books by covers.
I was having a conversation with mi Mam the other week about how bizarre it is that in the 60s/70s/80s it was totally acceptable for old women to walk around with died blue or purple hair and nobody would bat an eyelid – but stick the same hair colour on the heed of a young man and it’d be “phone the police, I’m gona get mugged!” 🙂

Comment #61…I’d agree though, attitudes are certainly changing. Having a tattoo these days can be a sign of affluence and distinction. It’s becoming far more the fashion accessory now and seems to be spread through all classes – not just ‘working’.

Comment #62Duff is pretty poor, old-ish and on 80k a week when Champonship players are on roughly 10k a week.
Get him out.
