Martins And Geremi Back For Leyton Orient

It looks like Oba Martins and Geremi will make their pre-season return against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road on Saturday (3:00 pm kick-off), but Seb Bassong is still struggling with sore muscles.

BRITAIN SOCCER

Oba Martins – back on Saturday!

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Oba will certainly be involved at some stage at Orient.” “And so will Geremi.”

“What we need to go through the lads in the next couple of days and assess any little problems, and then we’ll make a decision.”

“We need to assess Sebastien Bassong because he came back late.”

Bassong is doubtful because he’s still recovering from the the hard running in pre-season and apparently is having muscle aches.

But as we reported this morning, Nicky Butt is now expected to be out for about 4 weeks, after undergoing an operation on his hand.

Hughton talked about Nicky:

“We’re hopeful it might be less than four weeks, but he’ll be out for a few weeks, which is a big blow for us.”

“It was something that was quite innocuous.” “He’s a big player, and not only that, but he’s rarely injured.”

“We have been fortunate pre-season, and we haven’t really had any injuries.” “We’ll have to work round that.”

That’s the way things go sometimes, but we have to hope Nicky will be back quicker than the 4 weeks, because it is obviously going to be vital to get a good start to the season, especially while we still have our top paid players, which we will surely not be able to keep beyond August.

But with a block put on outgoing transfers, we’re really not sure what Ashley and Llambias are thinking.

Maybe we’re missing something here, but we don’t think so, and we’ll need to unload around 8 players in the next five and a half weeks, so why wait?

Comments welcome.

Stardust’s back on top form eh – he must have had his vitriol top-up jab!

His credentials sound so impressive one must wonder why he is still gracing this fine city of ours.

With his vast and successful experience and apparant mastery of high finances, he’d to be moving in very heady an gifted circles.

Stardust’s views and opinions say such a lot about his business acumen and entrepreneural dynamism. From them I’d infer that his friends and business accociates must have included the likes of the Mike Ashley, the Phoenix Four, Peter Mandelsohn and the late great Albert Spier!

Afternoon boys, back on the pc after a hard day’s “work” looks as if most folks are resigned to Ash keeping the club and lifting the transfer embargo while he still has time to sell a few players.
    Likely scenario:

    Hughton remains in charge
    4-5 senior players leave
    0 players arrive
widespread cost cutting while praying for decent results and crowds to make NUFC a more attractive proposition to potential buyers.

    How does that sound?

star dust i found youre response to one of lee ryders articles and just thought i would say this

Why do you choose to omit the cost of building a 52k stadium from your article? It would take around 200m in todays market.

As with the whole of this very poor piece you choose to make grandiose statements with no thought or evidence – very shoddy journalism – may I ask Lee did you learn your trade from Mr Oliver?

Ironically one of the only writers to have any credibility amongst the masses is George Caulkin of the Times. You have an opportunity to make the point of reference for fans yet you shoot and miss at the moment Lee – just like Mr Oliver. Remember not all fans have the inability to see the wood for the trees, write for those and your credibility will rise not cont plummet.

the notts county owners imo are probably the same as portsmouths they wanna take a small club with not a brilliant sized fanbase or a big stadium and take them as far as possible sort of like when i became darlo on fifa 09 and made them win the champs

From Beyethegreat’s link, I think they should come to take over Newcastle United is easier than buy the Geordies.

    Team for next year:

    Harper(c)

    Beye Taylor Bassong Enrique

    Lualua Barton Guthrie Duff

    Martins Carroll.

Bench: Krul, R.Taylor, Kadar, Nolan, Jonas, Ameobi, Ranger.

Get rid of Geremi, Smith and Coloccini.
There all on over 60k a week so them 3 will be great to get rid plus LuaLua takes Geremi’s place, We have enough midfielders/strikers to replace Smith and Tozer will replace Coloccini 🙂
    What you think ?? 🙂

just getting this off another site, probably load of shite like.
I have it from a good source that Shearer will quit by the end of this week when he has signed a contract to take him to the BBC for Match of The Day and their Championship Live games. And also that Alan Curbishley is rumoured (strong rumour) to be invited to a meeting at the Westbury Hotel in Mayfair London with your club on Monday 27th July. What do you all think?

Hitman-probably a load of rubbish RE curbs, but as for Shearer, i suppose all this guessing could eventually come true. The sale doesnt look like its going through any time soon and tbh mate im already preparing myself mentally for the only announcement to be made about the whole fiasco being that Ashley is AGAIN taking the club off the market. How long can Shearer stick around? He cant sit week in week out with the BBC wanting to offer him a job just hoping that everything will work itself out. He’ll naturally want to stay in work and the time has to eventually come where he gives up sitting waiting aimlessly and takes his punditry position back. What that says for who will manage us and or who will be playing for us next season, i have no idea.
