Does Martins Want Wolfsburg Move?

There are quotes today attributed to Obafemi Martins welcoming a move to VfL Wolfsburg. The quotes are out of the daily newspaper of Wolfsburg.

Obafemi Martins-Would love to play in Bundesliga

The comments seem very unlike Martins. He has had countless links to clubs like Arsenal but has never expressed a wish to move away from Newcastle. However, these are desperate times at Newcastle and who could blame him for wanting to leave.

Martins spoke of the Bundesliga and Wolfsburg,

“The Bundesliga is on the up and could soon become one of the best in the world, that’s why I am keen on joining a side that has recently become champions of that division.

“I am hoping this transfer is going to be pushed through real soon.”

Just yesterday there were reports that a £10M pricetag had been slapped on Martins. That would recoup what Newcastle paid for Martins when he left Inter Milan in August of 2006.

This would be a good deal for Newcastle since they would also remove his wages from the wage bill. Martins has been a fan favorite but has been far too inconsistent. While he would be great in the Championship next year, it would be best for both parties if this deal went through

Transfer embargo (at this time) so he wont go anywhere immediately – unless that was more bollox spat by the club.

Martins, Colo, Jonas, Nolan, Barton, Enrique I would say need to go to help the money situation.

Anyone know why Ameobi didnt play or Harper – not injured again??!!

If he move to Wolfsburg, Good for him (on reasonable fee, of course). We can’t blame him if he want to leave even he’s the only our forward I don’t want to let him go.

But “The Bundesliga is on the up and could soon become one of the best in the world” –> I don’t think so Oba.

A think if Martins left and we didn’t get anyone in, no one would score our goals that’s why a think if we got rid of Geremi, Colo, Enrique, Jonas – That would be good enough for wage reduce, for one season anyways because i feel we aren’t going to get anyone in so we have to keep Obaa !

In fairness.. if there’s something we HAVE TO take from Owen’s move and subsequent performances at Manure … we shouldn’t be picking apart the performances of our players (especially strikers) last season too much. A great manager can get average sides playing well, we had good individuals that failed to perform – that is a management, tactical and coaching issue…. it wasn’t one or two players it was most of them.

Look at Owen and remember that playing in a side with confidence and strong tactical game plans… players will be rejuvenated again.

I have little confidence that Shearer can put that together – the evidence suggests the opposite.

    Aye,
& the fact that manure play in the other teams half & have a creative midfield that release the ball early, how most strikers like it & all EMO has to do is slot it home…Unlike when he played for us!..

Oba’s a nice guy who has his heart in the right place but lets be honest if Wolfsburg or anybody else for that matter want to shell out some hard earned on somebody who isn’t really that good at anything inparticular then get the lads bags packed and reduce the wage bill before we go into administration.
There must be some barn doors in Germany that need missing:)

He’s a nice lad and seems to like playing for the toon but lets be honest there are barn doors in Germany that need to be missed as well!
