Three Will Be Back For Leeds

Chris Hughton has reported today that some of our missing players will be back for tomorrow’s clash with Leeds United.  However, Sabastien Bassong is not one of them that was mentioned.

Steve Harper – Won’t let in six against Leeds

The three players returning for the Wednesday night game against Leeds are Shola Ameobi, Ryan Taylor, and Steve Harper. Each player should get quite a bit of action and we would expect a much better performance out of Harper than we witnessed from our two young keepers this past weekend.

However one name was suspiciously absent from this list and that is our central defender Sebastien Bassong who has not played in any preseason games this season. Hughton did speak about Seb a little earlier in an attempt to clarify his situation.

He said,

“Sebastien’s now back training with the group.

“What he has done is a different program.

“Hopefully, he can play some part on Wednesday. He played a little bit later than everybody else (with Cameroon). He had a little problem towards the end of last season.

“It hasn’t been an issue. We’ve just needed to make sure we managed it.”

These comments don’t do much to clarify Bassong’s situation. It doesn’t quite sound like he’s injured and it can’t take him this long to recover from international play. This sounds like Hughton doesn’t really know too much about Bassong either.

Bassong was suffering with some sort of muscle issue a few weeks ago, something which i took as “he’s still a little stiff from int. duty” (god knows how, he’s a professional footballer), so all that says to me is they’re trying to keep him fit, so should/when the fire sale takes place he will go and we can try get a canny price for him. If he was going to be fit and play i reckon he would have by now to be honest. even just 15 minutes here or there.

Agree TG- i’m sure the faithful will voice our opinion regarding Ashley and Llambias tomorrow night like, but make no mistake if the players serve up anything even close to Orient, they’ll be on the end of a serious ear bashing n’all i’d imagine.

Sounds to me like Seb will be sold. Why keep him out and keep such a lid on the situation. My only hope is that we can bag at least 6mil for him.

TG- if I even *start* to see a lackluster performance, rest assured the lads will hear my voice yellin’ all the from Tennessee 🙂

TG-its all about getting back to the match asap mate! I was talking about our apparent “blind faith” last night and thought “well not me this time like”…i then immediatly hit the official to find ticket info for the first home game of the season. We cant help ourselves. If i could be at WBA i would be!

I’ll be at Dundee just for the craic like. Got mates from uni n that up there and its only 12 pund or somethin so i might aswell. Train prices are shockin tho and i cant be arsed driving it if im honest!

Alreet lads, Check oot the third bloke that’s interviewed on this video I found. I reckon he couldn’t do much worse than our current owner… and as you’ll see from the video he’s already got experience of running a sporting institution

It will take more than three returning ‘heroes’ to get me to part with my cash – I wont spend another penny at SJP or the dark lords sports empire until all the crap has been flushed out of hte toon – remember every pound you spend goes directly to fatash and not on improving the team!!!!!

As for all you “we must suport the team” fans – get real – they didnt perform last year and look equally uninspired this year. They are here for the money NOTHING ELSE
