After just completing a piece on Andy Carroll, and saying that we’ll need his goals tonight, news from the official site that Andy will be rested at Peterborough.
Nile Ranger – 18 year-old striker will start tonight
Thankfully there’s nothing wrong with Andy in terms of injuries, and we have to think Chris Hughton will now give a full outing to Nile Ranger, and maybe give a run-out at some stage to local lad Ryan Donaldson, too.
And we accept that fully, because some of our top players must be rested, and we need to have a fresh side that can do battle and take all 3 points at Ipswich on Saturday.
And the Championship is of course out very top priority this season, as we must maintain our challenge at the top of the league so we can get back to the PL at the very first attempt.
Nile will start this game and he needs a goal tonight, to keep his forward momentum going this season.
But in the last two games, when he’s come on, the tall Londoner has looked little short of awesome, so it will be good to see how he plays tonight.
If Chris plays a usual 4-5-1 then Nile will be the Lone Ranger up front.
We just had to get that one in, and Nile’s goal will obviously be to score tonight – excuse the pun. 😀
Howay The Lads!!

it was 11 straight wins actually and it was 17 years ago so, although it still is in living memory it was a long time ago. CH deserves alot of credit. i too are sick of the negative comments around at the moment. i would put a canny wager on the fact that many on here dont remember anything pre KK otherwise they would know what dire straights really was. we are doing very well at present so get behind CH

Comment #44Whumpie I can understand a starting attacking formation and changing to a defensive one later in the game but the other way round against teams low n confidence? No way. Of course what do I know as an armchair supporter? And you?

Comment #46@vivadavidkelly, memory is playing tricks on me today, but thanks for the statistics mate. You are right about most of the toon fans not knowing anything pre-KK, which to be fair to them there is very little of interest to report pre-KK unless you look back to fairs cup (and that was before my time). My first game had Gordon Lee in charge against Derby, stood in the old padock.

Comment #47Wow! Why do so many support a defensive 5-4-1, benching a promising striker, and generally giving up on cups already?
We have a decent chance at going much farther than many EPL teams in both cups, we have young players who, we hope, are playing premiership football next year, and we are way ahead in the CCC. Why the h*ll not go for it? Not trying to win is a recipe for relegation at the end of next season. We need to win, we need the young players to get experience against top flight teams and we can afford to go for it (aside from injuries, and I really can’t claim to have all the answers there, or even know exactly where we really stand).
Go for it Chris! Howay the lads!
