Zurab Khizanishvili could not get a game under Sam Allardyce once Sam took over at Blackburn earlier this year.
Zurab Khizanishvili – glad to be at Newcastle
But even so it seems that Sam was straight with Zurab about his position at Blackburn and the Georgian International has nothing but kind words when it comes to describing his manager Sam Allardyce.
Newcastle United’s fall from grace has been spectacular in recent years, and especially under the current owner Mike Ashley, but the club is still a great one and a proud one too, and supported by the best fans in the land.
Zurab talked about Big Sam and Blackburn:
“Maybe my style did not suit Sam Allardyce,” “I know Sam likes different players.”
“I knew from his time at Bolton, where he was a long time, he likes more athletic players, bigger than me, stronger than me. Not necessarily more intelligent players, but more physical, stronger players. That is his choice.”
“I prefer playing football from the back. That is my opinion, that is the way I like to play, the way I have always played, the way I was brought up.”
“Every previous manager has said to me ‘we like to play football.’ You can’t play the long ball, every game, every minute, you have to decide on the pitch.”
It’s true that managers like different types of players and Zurab will know he has no future at Blackburn, which is why if he keeps up his good form at Newcastle he could sign a permanent deal, maybe in January.
But we are getting a little ahead of ourselves (as usual), as the main thing now at the club are the results game by game, and we just have to keep up our challenge at the top of the Championship table.
3 points today against Bristol City is of paramount importance following our disappointing draw Wednesday against QPR.
Howay The Lads!!
