When Kevin Keegan brought Chris Hughton to Newcastle United in February, 2008, Chris never dreamed he would become the permanent manager at Newcastle United.
Kevin Keegan – brought Chris Hughton to Tyneside
Chris was asked this morning if he ever thought he’d end up as the manger at the famous Tyneside club, when he arrived 20 months ago to assist Kevin Keegan at the club:
“No, I never imagined being in this position.” “But it just goes to show that you can’t rule anything out in football.”
“And the way the game chops and changes these days you shouldn’t be surprised.” “In all honestly, I didn’t expect that when I came here.”
“But if you look at the circumstances over the last couple of years they have dictated where I am now.”
“I’m very honoured and grateful for the position.”
We still wish Kevin was at the club, but he was done the dirty on by Ashley and Dennis Wise, ably assisted by Derek Llambias, and that episode has meant that Ashley will never ever have the support of Newcastle fans.
We just have to hope the club gets promoted and Ashley moves out in the summer – he’s simply not wanted on Tyneside.
If Kevin was still here we’d be in the upper half of the Premier League – at least.
But hey, that’s all water under the Tyne Bridge now we suppose, and we have to get over it – and get on with it.
But we really hope Chris and the players can continue to be successful through May and get the club promoted – that would class as a mini-miracle indeed.

Comment #1Hughton “you cant rule anything out in football” apart from yourself being a successful manager, as i have ruled that out, i have once again written off the season too.

Comment #6I do agree with what is being said here however Hughton is not the enemy. If he didnt take the job MA would simply find another yes man and a manager change now would spell certain doom for the toon. And remember we are top of the league you have to give him credit for this we cant ask any more of him at this stage.
What im saying is we should be supportive of Hughton and the team they have a difficult challenge ahead and if the fans arent behind them 110% they wont have a chance.
