Alan Smith, who is Newcastle’s captain when Nicky Butt doesn’t play has today welcomed the new boys to the Newcastle squad.
Alan Smith – welcome new recruits
Alan told the Newcastle Journal today:
“It’s given everyone a boost, the last couple of lads came in only two days ago and a couple of them played against Leicester.”
“That can be difficult, but they’re all good lads, they know what we expect and they know how difficult this league is, because they’ve all played in it before. That’ll stand us in good stead.”
“From the game against Palace last Wednesday night we’ve got nine games in a month, it’s going to be interesting, there’ll be lots of ups and downs and we have to keep battling on.”
Yes there certainly will be lots of ups and downs – and it was a down on Saturday night when we couldn’t best a 10 man Leicester City side.
Generally it seems the Newcastle fans are fairly pleased with the January transfer window, in which the club signed four players permanently, brought two in on loan, and saw Geremi leave the club.
Whether the four players signed can hack it in the Premier League, if we make it for next season, is not known, and seems to be one of the talking points since Monday night.
Comments welcome.

WE DO NOT approve one little bit and people will do well to remember that a leopard never changes its spots.
We do not think that Ashley has invested in the long term future of the club, he has only invested to try and ensure promotion.
We think that Ashley will own a team that is nailed on certainties for relegation next season should they be playing in the Premier League.
We dont think that Ashley can be trusted and we will be absolutely delighted when the day comes that either Ashley sells up or is incarcerated in Durham jail for price fixing.

Comment #2We need to change our mindset. If a team is prepared to play football against us we should have the confidence that we are the better squad and we can go on the pitch and outplay them. If they choose to sit back then we unleash hell on them until they start fighting back. Lets have a bloody go.
