Whoops – how embarrassing – it looks like the Kevin Nolan injury story this morning we put out was just not true – as Kevin is in the starting eleven this afternoon.
Let’s delete that article rather quickly – OK we’re whole again. 😀
So in truth there is only one change from the side which beat Preston North End 3-0 at home last Saturday, with Wayne Routledge (calf) and Jose Enrique (hamstring) still not fit, but hoping to be ready  for next week’s home game against Barnsley.
Leon Best comes in for Peter, and it looks like Chris may even play a 4-4-2 this afternoon with both Carroll and Best starting.
Newcastle are trying for their first win in 8 away games, so we have to hope we can indeed capture all 3 points today, and if the lads can do that things will start to look rosy in the Newcastle garden.
Watford include two Newcastle fans – Cramlington-born Martin Taylor and Gateshead lad Danny Graham, and former Redheugh Boys Club center-forward Liam Henderson is on the bench.
Let’s hope these players are not too inspired against the Magpies this afternoon.
We need the win today! Â Â We’ll be back after the game.
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #1Another surprise with Hughton seemingly going for the 4-4-2 again, good to have Nolan in though.
On a side note a big 😆 @ Chel$ki, 3-1 down and down to 9 players.

Comment #3Why play Guthrie on the right wing?
Week in week out he shows everyone he’s a central midfielder…
This is a bad thing for our team balance…
Still, I’d take a point today but I’ve got a feeling Best will get off the mark today.
2-1 Newcastle, Best and Carroll.

Comment #8Not sure about the balance – would have preferred to see Guthrie in centre and (strangely for me) Ryan Taylor on the right, with (even more strangely for me) Nolan advanced midfielder instead of Best.
Yes, that’s 4-5-1! – but away against an attacking team – and that’s what brought us our gritty away wins early on – as opposed to our recent draws and especially the bad slip against Derby (when we played 4-4-2).
Hope I’m wrong – come on the Toon!

Comment #9Nice to see you back, Toon Graeme.
I’ve got a bad feeling about Guthrie on the right, but whatever.

Futbol Smart
Ring.bg
Setanta (Canada) (delay)

Comment #24You know, I honestly do prefer those white shorts to the black ones. Stops the money saving on doubling them up as third kit too.
White shorts = home kit
Black shorts = third kit

Comment #29Gotta say, so far we’re playing some nice football. Passing is decent, no stupid long balls when unrequired… good fight.
I’m very worried about the pace of Watford, though =/

Comment #32Despite being in the lead, I think we’ve been awful, yet again.
We’re so one dimentional and there’s no support from the midfield. Where’s Nolan today?
Guthrie IS NOT A WINGER!!!!!!!!
Still, will be nice to “grind out” another win.

Comment #33Another thing, Watford are playing 4-5-1 and are doing us in midfield.
Outplayed yet again…
I hope Watford got to a 442 in the second half.
Would be nice to get Guthrie in the middle too, off you go Nolan…

1. Ref is far too card happy! Wouldnt be suprised to see a red.
2. We were out played for half and hour in the 1st half lucky to be ahead.
3. Pitch looks shocking.
4. Best is shocking.
5. Jonas, Carroll combination looks the best bet for goals atm.
6. Midfield are getting dominated, bring Guthrie into CM and bring on R. Taylor, he seems to want to prove him self at last.
Need a better 2nd half display and CH to kick them up the ar5e at half time.
