Can Newcastle Do A Loan Deal For Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka?

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton  is going to bring in some loan signings over the summer,  and while most of these will be young guns from the top clubs,  there could also be some experienced players available in August,  depending on what transfers the big clubs accomplish over the summer.

Nicolas Anelka – what happens to him if Chelsea sign Torres?

So this is a woulda coulda shouda story but we were interested to read that Chelsea believe the turmoil at Liverpool, with Rafael Benitez having left the Anfield club, and the ownership still uncertain, think they can sign Fernando Torres for around £70M.

That’s a little frightening to think that Torres could be lining up alongside Didier Drogba next season, and it could scare the living daylights out of a lot of Premier League side’s defenses.

But if that does happen what will happen to Chelsea striker Nicholas Anelka?

Chris Hughton has said he wants to recruit a proven PL goalscorer – and who would be better than Anelka?

It could be that Chelsea would want to keep him at Stamford Bridge,  but his playing time could also be limited and he could certainly do a job for one season on Tyneside..

Yes it’s true  he’s old at  31, but it’s not like Newcastle will want to sign him  permanently, but it would simply be a one season loan deal, and makes sense for at least a couple of reasons.

It would provide a proven goalscorer at Newcastle for our first season back  with the big boys, and it would also help to give young strikers like Nile Ranger and Andy Carroll more time to  develop their games.

This would all be dependent on Chelsea being able to do a deal for Torres, which would seem unlikely, but it’s these kinds of deals that could unfold this summer, that could provide Newcastle with some good loan targets in August.

It’s just a thought – but a potentially good one for Newcastle.

Have we been drinking the water out of the radiators again ED?

    1) Chelsea would still rotate Anelka even with Torres added. 2) If they saw him surplus then they would look to sell him 3) Since when do 31 year old internationals go on loan? 4) If all of the above somehow weren’t the case – why would he come to us?

Continuing the fantasy theme – Henri will be moving this summer – KK liked him and they say the boy can play a bit!?

I think Boyd is more realistic.

What a joke. How deluded to even think such a thing.

Just how out of touch can 1 person be?

If it was his long lost 33nd cousin, who also happened to be named Nicolas, although didn’t have any football ability, then maybe we would be in for him.

Nowt like a bit of headline grabbing.

haha…that is a dream that will never come true

we cant afford his wages, plus even if they sign Torres, they still need 3 strikers due to a lot of matches they will have to play.

and if I m Anelka, I will sit tight and wait for chances to play a part and win PL trophy, or even a CL trophy, why bother helping us in relegation dog fight

Nuttyward – If you think this team is g0oing to do anything other than scrape around the bottom of the Prem, then it means you live up to the first part of your user name.

We are going nowhere with the fatman in charge, nowhere. Name me one team who plans to not spend anything after being promoted?

Administration would be better than being lumbered with this fat cancer in the future.

how can you say that to ed? this is a man with high.. Obv very high, aspirations for his club. Granted he may be aiming too high but rather that than all these negative comments about how were gonna be relegated with no new players and how ashleys just plottin and schemin against the club that he owns, and you doubt his loyalty? For wanting the very best for his club? You my friend are a fool

Nice job, Ed! Way to get the everyone fired up. There’s nothing wrong with a little conjecture. Ain’t no fun if you take yourself too seriously. I don’t think anything could be going any better right now. I think in three or four years the club is going to be sitting pretty. I respect Mike and Chris for not freaking out and doing anything drastic. Just play it cool and dig in.

JSYproject – I want a Ferrari, but I would look like a nipple saying that I should get one when I haven’t got the money to.

    Same applies.

I understand he wants the best, so do I, and the rest of us. But come on, is it realistic at the minute? Or is it sympotmatic of someone who hasn’t really got his fingers on the pulse?

How about Ibrahimovic from Barca? Or Pele?

my only issue was the fact he was questioning eds loyalty, if anything question his sanity but to question whether he is a ‘real fan’ is rediculous. especially when the man owns and maintains a website devoted to NUFC.

JSY – Are you the unltimate ruler like? Nah didn’t think so. Your just trying to cover up a false staement you made about this blog being dedicated to all things NUFC, when clearly it isn’t?

If I wanted to read about Cheryl Cole and her latest squeeze I would buy the News Of The Worl and read it directly, rather than on here where just a few words are changed around from the original article itself.

I doubt Anelka would want to come and I doubt we have enough money to pay his wages.
