As We Expected – Jonas Committed To Newcastle

Newcastle fans will be pleased to hear that Argentine International Jonas Gutierrez is happy at the Newcastle United club.

Jonas Gutierrez – committed to Newcastle United
His agent has also said there has been no contact with Rome club, Lazio,  and that Jonas will not leave Newcastle after after the World Cup, but will see out the 3 years left on his contract.

There have been various reports in the last couple of weeks that Spanish club Atletico Madrid and more recently Italian club Lazio are interested in taking Jonas, but Jonas is not interested, and his agent has come out today and told the  lalaziosiamonoi web-site that he is in fact looking forward to returning to Tyneside.

Pedro Jimenez Bravo, Jonas’ agent told lalaziosiamonoi.it today:

“Jonas is a Newcastle player and still has three years left on his contract,” “He plays at Newcastle and is a currently in the Argentina national side.”

“No-one at Lazio has contacted me. A move to Italy in the future? At the moment he is only thinking about his current club.”

Jonas seems very committed to Newcastle and of course he will play on the left-wing at Newcastle – none of this right back stuff – which is where he has played recently for Argentina.

Not what you call a glowing endorsement.

Funny thing is that he still doesn’t feel like a toon player to me. In some ways he’s a classic exciting typical daft toon forward but he’s just so flakey in possession it’s hard to fathom.

His greatest asset is causing other defenses to panic and over commit – and therefore creating space on the right side of the box, where routledge and guthrie can stroke home. (hopefully)

isn’t Jonas Gutierrez right footed ??
Maybe thats why he cant cross the ball with his left foot

Of course he’s committed to the TOON, we’re the only mugs willing to pay his £85k a week wages for the next 3 years, I mean why else would he be committed.. lol

A winger who cannot cross and cannot shoot. Having said that, he does try…at least at home! The proverbial rubber man who falls over at the first point of contact with the enemy. One of NUFCs best players and we need him because he has some class which is more than can be said for many in the team.
Carroll for England? Laughable. Stay off the drugs Ed.

I was really glad when I read that. Good for him.
He’s gone even more in my valuation.
About his crossing, I think this past season it’s improved quite a lot. Seem to remember around halfway he was getting assists frequently.
    peterktoon – I think he’s ambidextrous.

He was the second most fouled player in the premier league 2 years ago after ronaldo. He scares defences and whilst I dont know how many free kicks he earnt us last season I’d say if we had someone to put them away we’d realise how much he brings to the team.

As solaid back said, nobody else is stupid enough to pay that kind of money in wages.

Maybe he does get paid to much money, but he was one of our best players last season. We need to keep him next season as he is certainly an asset to the team.
Did anyone see Jonas at the Bristol City game at Ashton Gate in March? He was the best player on the park by a country mile imo.

    “A winger who cannot cross”

Funny that because the first time I seen him play for us, against PSV I think in pre season he played a cross that Shearer would have buried, unfortunately Shearer wasn’t on the pitch!

Our best creative player by miles atm but we need more and better imo. His ability to hold the ball and understanding with Enrique down the left are his strong points. he needs more goals and more balls into the box, I know he can do it.

He should have been the best player on the pitch against Bristol City man, he’s an Argintina International against a 2nd tier team for gods sake….. He shoudl rightly been running circles around 99% of the Fizzy pop players… could you imagine Messi or Kaka playing in that division.. they’d be able to play on their own & still win the matches… lol

Hey Bucks mag @8……… peterktoon – I think he’s ambidextrous.”

So he can write with both hands ok but how does that effect his crossing?? 🙂 🙂

He wasn’t bought just as a winger, but as a player also able to boss the middle of the park – a fact that keeps getting overlooked. Personally I would like to see tried him in a more attacking role just behind Carrol in a 4-5-1.
