Even Newcastle Have Better Record Than Pitiful England

I watched the England – Germany win in 1966 and was really proud of our country when the lads lifted the World Cup that year, but that’s the only England World Cup victory I will ever see in my lifetime.

Wayne Rooney – an ordinary player at best For England
He let the country down again

If I was a little hopeful before yesterday then  the disgraceful performance of the England wimps, in front of a watching world we may add,  told me they are a million miles away from being a top country in the game we invented.

They are second rate and not much better than the US – if truth be told – and what’s really clear is they are nowhere near the Brazils, Argentinas and Germanys of this word.

England haven’t won anything at all for 46 years and even Newcastle United have a better record than that, having won the Inter-City Fairs Cup in 1969.

Yes – we know the comparison may be a dodgy one – but the point is that England have always had some of the best players in the world, and they prove it week in and week out in the Premier League.

And yesterday against an unproven and very young German side, they were simply torn apart, and I have never ever seen an England defense make so many schoolboy errors.

What I saw in each German player was a dedication, spirit and fight that was completely lacking in those players who represented our country yesterday – and that is something I personally cannot stand – and am offended by.

It’s OK to lose (we suppose) but when you give up in a game with 20 minutes to go, and even the English commentators are defending that because the game was lost –   that is inexcusable and that should be the last game for a number of the England players who disgraced the shirt yesterday.

There is something seriously wrong with the mental attitude of these English players – they are too negative and too scared – and they must be more positive or else nothing will change in the future.

We may win all of our European qualifying games for Euro 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine, and then be just as impotent as we have been in this World Cup in the European Championship finals, because our players again prove to be too scared to perform – the wimps.

Obviously Robert Green’s terrible error in the first game was just an example of things to come for England, whose defense was worse than woeful.

The one thing that made me very proud of our Newcastle team and players last year was their fight and spirit, and their pride in wearing the Newcastle shirt. But there seemed none of that yesterday with these overpaid, over-rated, over-pampered and gutless England players.

And Wayne Rooney needs to take a good hard and long look at himself in the mirror – yes we know that make him feel even worse – but this lad has never performed on the big stage – ever – and he’s very over-rated – at least at International level.

At least the Newcastle team will take some heart and now hope he’s in the Manchester United line-up for our first game at Old Trafford on August 14th. 😀

And our players can take some inspiration from yesterday’s game, that any team that plays with courage and bravery is always  in with a winning chance – and any team that plays scared and negative is always there to be taken apart.

Fortune favors the brave as we keep saying – but the Germans were the brave yesterday and simply annihilated this meek England side.

The German side yesterday proved that if you have confidence – but particularly if you have the pride, courage and belief, then anything is possible – and that’s one reason we are gaining confidence that our Newcastle lads will do OK next season – starting at Old Trafford in our first game.

Howay The Lads!!

Shearer for England manager!!!!! We need British based managers as foreign just don’t work with England! I know I will probably get slated but just look how Klinnsman and Loew have done for Germany with little/no managerial experience! Also Maradona isn’t doing badly with Argentina either!

To say Rooney has never performed for England is an exaggeration – in Euro 2004 he was our best player by a million miles and he’s done the business for us in qualifying plenty of times.

That being said, I’ve always thought Rooney has been overrated and, despite what the media wanted us to believe for the most of last season, he’s never been up with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

I said on the blog just after the Algeria game that I thought Newcastle could have beaten them.
